"A couple... But they're all other cabin boys or officers... And none of them are girls..." he said softly.

"What's the big difference?" She asked, she never saw a difference between a a friend if they are different in gender.

"I've never talked to a girl without being a servant. You're the first. I've got no idea how to talk to you!" he told her with a little bit of irritation in his voice but he immediately calmed down, "I... I'd better go..." he said quietly and turned to leave.

Viola was surprised by the outburst, she hadn't expected that. "Wait!" She said, putting a hand on his shoulder. "It isn't hard to talk to a girl, there is no difference just because of gender." She didn't want to make him angry.

The gryphon went stuff when he felt her hand on his shoulder, then his wings drooped and he looked back at her.
"Maybe for you..."

Viola frowned, she wanted to figure out a way to try to become Percy's friend but it seemed to be so hard because he was so shy and fearful, as she would describe it. "It isn't as hard as you think it is." She said, she took her hand off his shoulder, finally deciding that it was probably hopeless.

He just shook his head a little bit and left the lounge room. He went up to the crows nest and just relaxed up there for a while.
He came back to Viola's room another three or so hours later and knocked on her door. It was about 6pm and the sun was low in the sky but the sky was still blue.

Viola sighed, wishing she knew what to do but guessed it was useless.

She sat in her room, twirling one of her ice stars in the palm of her hand. She heard the knock at the door. "Come in." She called out, crushing her star in the palm of her hand, it was thin, but it did cut her hand but she didn't care. The water melted into her wounds and healed them before a drop of blood could seep out.

"Good evening, Miss," Percy greeted, "Would you like for me toget you something for dinner?" he asked politely.

Viola shook her head. "No, I am fine. Thank you for the offer."

"Is there anything you need at all then, Miss Viola?" he asked her with a slight flutter of his wings.

Viola shook her head. "No, I fine." She said.

He bowed to her and began to walk away, "Just press the buzzer if you need anything. You may do so until midnight."

Viola nodded. "Alright. I will make sure to remember that." She said.

He paused for a moment then looked back at her. "I'm very sorry for being so rude to you, Miss..." he apologized, "I... I don't know how much of a consolation it is, but would you like to see something I've been working on?"

Viola was surprised at what he said then smiled and nodded. She stood up and walked over to him. "What is it?" She asked, curious as to what he is working.

"Please stay here. I'll be right back," he smiled timidly and ran off. He returned about ten minutes later with a small leather bag and he emptied it onto the table, revealing ten or so different animals made of clockwork and brass, all with little keys in their backs. He picked up a humming bird, wound up its key then tossed it on the air. It's little wings began beating rapidly and then it began darting around the room, it's metal wings pumping furiously.

Viola nodded then sat down on the bed as she waited for Percy to return. Once he did, she was even more curious on what he had in mind on showing her. She was surprised to see all the little animals made out of various metal pieces. She watched as he wound up the humming bird and smiled when it darted around the room. "Wow, you made these?" She asked.

He nodded and picked up a stag with antlers made of silver and two wolves. He wound up their keys and then set them on the table. The wolves howled silently then began chasing the stag around the table.

Viola watched in amazement, she didn't think that machines could possibly be used to make such things. "How did you make these?" She asked, smiling at the little wolves.
