Looking at the burnt hole Markus was confused as he had never seen any weapon like it. "This ships hull is nearly two meters how could something blast through it with no sudden shrapnel or anything no ash from an explosion nothing." He turned and pointed his gun to the wreckage behind him believing to have heard something. "I don't like this. Let's hurry up and get that data." He said a bit nervous scanning the area.
There was no denying that what happened to the MSS4 was strange indeed, but she quickly took to action and crawled into the opening where warmth from the blast, or whatever it was, lingered. She was careful to avoid sharp edges though there wasn't many and she dropped into the storage room that looked to still be in decent condition and thankfully were stored in labeled containers although they a passcode needed to be entered in for access. She muttered a curse under breath seeing that there was no power and if she wanted to get in she had to break in.
"How is it going down there?" Markus said briskly. He was scanning the area as if he was ready to be attacked. Looking at what appeared to some kind of cupboard he saw something moving. Moving closer he opened it up to see a karu bird. Karu birds were a native bid that was about the size of a crow and had dark blue feathers. "Oh god. This place is making me jumpy." He said to himself waiting to hear from Iveth.
It was silent a moment until she called up to him, "Do you think you can break through this? I can't get in, power's out." Her hand pressed flat against the metallic glass as she tried to see the more vita hardware she could take that hopefully weren't ruined.
"I won't be able to fit into the vent but I can drop you my pistol as long as you be careful. Shoot the main lock mechanism, get the data then get back up here." He said putting his pistol down the slightly angled vent and pushing it down.
It made a loud clamor as she heard it approach and caught it as it fell through the vent. Not often had she had the privilege of using a firearm, but that didn't necessarily mean she had no knowledge on using them. With a few steps back she aimed for the pallet and pressed down on the trigger only a moment till the lock was destroyed, and the audible clicking sound signaled that the metallic glass was now loose and could be slid open. The held the pistol to her side as she slid them open and searched for the vital hardware. "Here it is," she muttered to herself as she pulled it from the socket. Quickly she scanned over it, seeing that it was still in fine condition. "Alright, I got it," she spoke loud enough for Markus to hear before started her crawl back out.
"Ok bring it back up here quickly." Markus said to her. Then his radio activated. "Markus we were attacked by some kind of spider like creature. We recommend you get your ass here now as we don't know what it was but it is deadly and there could be more." The communication said. "Roger heading back now." Markus said. "Roger that hurry." Then the communication ended. "Hey you may want to hurry we seem to have unknown bogies here and need to leave." Markus said looking in the vent to see her only a few feet away.
By then Iveth was close enough to hear the information and she paused briefly, giving a moment of thought before emerging from the hole. "Spider like creature?" she almost said skeptically as she tossed him back his pistol and flicked the unwanted curls from her face. As though she suddenly dismissed the topic, she held up the hardware, "We can go." Iveth was also in a hurry, she was anxious to see what recent data had been put into it.
The two began running back to the ship were they saw one of the marines with one of the spider creatures on her face. "What the hell happened?" Markus yelled from a hundred meters off. "We can't stay here. We need to get her to a medical bay." Said one of the marines in the drop ship. They put the girl into the ship lying her down over three seats. "Iveth this data better be worth it." He said looking at her.
In seeing this, Iveth came to an immediate halt and refused to board the ship. "Get her out," she pointed at the woman, whose face was still covered with the pale spider like creature, its tail coiled around her neck. "Take her off the ship!"
"We have to get her back to base. We are not leaving one of our own behind now get on the ship. Who knows if there are more of them here." Markus told Iveth with a panicked but aggressive tone.
With her eyes studying the woman she was still a bit apprehensive. Usually they would have something like that contained. God knows what that creature is.. if it attaches itself to the face, an opening really, then there must be something it's extracting or inputting into her body. It was not safe. Sending a glare at the man she stepped into the ship, taking the seat farthest away from the woman.
There was an eerie silence as they headed back to the base. No one knew what the alien was or what it was doing and without medical tests they never would. They arrived back at the colony after a quick four minute trip. Rushing the soldier with the alien on her face into the hospital they set up a quarantined wing to examine it. "Let's examine this data and see if it was worth it." He said to Iveth.
Iveth gave a nod as he looked over the hardware then looked to him, stepping out from the ship, "Is there a computer I can use?" After seeing the creature on the woman's face, she wasn't sure what could be held in the data that should've held the last recordings of the ships condition before it had been attacked.
"This way. You can use the communications room." He said walking there with a sense of worry in his eyes. "You had any idea what that thing is? Was it on your ship?"
She followed close behind as much in a hurry as he was. "None," she confirmed, a bit offended that he'd think they'd actually carry any type of organism aboard the MSS4. There weren't many secrets that hadn't already been shared. "But it's bad enough that it's on the surface. This place isn't as safe as it was a few minutes ago.."
Entering the communications room Markus showed her a computer she could use. "Use it and quickly." He said anxious. He watched as Iveth went about the process of connecting to the computer his radio went off. "Markus the creature came off it tried to escape but we caught it and it died almost instantly. She is still out of it but she is alive. Once you have the data get back here. I don't know whats going on but I think this spider thing is connected to it." The communication shut off after that. "The thing came off her face and now it died. What is going on here?" Markus said. Over in the other room a group of people in charge of monitoring communications seemed to be having trouble. "What do you mean you have been hearing noises? And whats this about strange animals and some kind of ghosts?" Said one of the communication officers just in Markus's range of hearing.
Their conversation had also reached Iveth's ears and she was high on alert now. This was far from a joke. There were creatures on the planet who could do god knows what, and she felt as if they were completely unprepared.
After getting the hardware in she went through the data, the most recent which was recorded that morning. Everyone on the ship did everyday logs. When the video came up Iveth recognized who it was instantly. Peter, the aerospace engineer. As she listened through there was nothing out of the ordinary until it reached the end. The alarms had gone off, but not even a second before he was taken down by a large.. black creature. All she could see was its back, not being able to see what it was doing to Peter.

Watching the footage with Iveth Markus saw at the very end one of those spider like creatures. The large black creature held Peters head back and the spider attached itself to his face. "Wha. What the hell was that thing?" Markus said trembling a bit in his place. "I have never seen anything like it. Have you? It is related to the spider creature but how and what are they?" He asked again. "Wait they said it fell off. The thing on her face we should get back there and see whats going on with her." He said obvious fear in his eyes.
"Wait, wait!" She held up her hand to haul him back as the other rewinded the footage. "Look," her finger met with the screen, at the man's throat when the spider like creature attached to his face. There was something traveling down his throat, and she had an idea as to what it was. "Those spider things came first.. and soon after the bigger ones came. What do you think that means?"
