Grace walked through the town's market by herself looking for things to buy. Deciding to go for a walk and stretch her legs a bit was a good idea. Being wealthy she could afford anything she wanted so money was no object to her. As she rounded a corner, she could suddenly hear a unique salesman selling some unique wares. "Slaves! Humans you can treat However you want! Step right up ladies and gentlemen and bid on the healthiest slaves before they're gone!" Grace walked into the large crowd gathered around the stage the man had built for himself and began to examine the slaves, making sure to meet eyes with all of them.
The youngest of the lot was a young boy no older then seven, a collar around his neck addressing him as "David." He stared down at the ground while the woman looked at them, making eye contact with all the rest of the slaves. David didn't like being a slave and had gotten quite a number of whippings for trying to run away several times. The newest whipping could be seen across his face from his left lip to the corner of his right eye, not even healed properly. David shuffled his bare feet a bit, his pants rubbing the shackles on his ankles. He was one of the only slaves that needed shackles, but also the only slave to get jeans and a sweatshirt.
(If you need me to change anything I will.)

The merchant walked over and put his fat hand on David's shoulder. "Alright folks this here's David. He may be young but he could grow up to be a good slave. Do I have any bids?" The crowd was silent for a long time until someone shouted "$35!" Then the bidding began. Everyone continued with small amounts until grace spoke up. "$5,000!" The crowd went silent once again and the man looked at her. "Five thousand going once... Twice... Sold to The young lady!" The man offered her a hand and she climbed onto the platform. The man attached the equivalent of a leash on David and gave the chain to grace. The girl pages the man and then began to walk off the stage holding the chain. "Come along David."
(I need to get off but I'll be back on in an hour or two. )
(Alright.)
David said still when the merchant put his beefy hand on his shoulder, afraid of getting hurt again. He stayed quiet throughout the whole thing but let his mouth drop when the one woman bid $5,000 on him, knowing it would be a while until he could do a whole lot.
David stumbled a bit when the woman started walking off the stage, but he regained his composure quickly and sped up a bit so he was right behind her, afraid he might get caught in something or someone. He did not talk, or look at anyone as they walked off the stage and onto the cobblestone plaza.

Continuing to walk, grace began to try to make conversation as she walked to where she would be picked up to go back home. "So how old are you David?"
David looked up, surprised that the woman actually wanted to talk to him. "S-Seven." He said, stuffing his hands in his pockets and trying to step carefully so he wouldn't fall.
Grace held tightly to the chain as they walked through a crowd of people. "How many times have you tried to escape a master or mistress?"
"T-twenty S-Seven...." He said, ashamed that he had tried that many times. "I only got five whippings the first few times, then I got ten for every other time." He added, letting her know that he probably wouldn't do it again.
"Interesting..." When they got to the other side of the crowd a carriage was waiting for them. "Ah, right on time. Come along David we're going home." Grace walked to the carriage and the driver got up and opened the door for her and she got in.
David followed her in, having no choice in the matter, and sat across from her in the carriage. "M-may I ask y-you a q-question, M-Mistress?" He asked, using the name he was supposed to when you didn't know your Master's name.
Grace looked at him kindly. "Ask me anything you like David."
"W-whats y-your name?" He asked politely, folding his hands in his lap.
"My name is grace. You may call me mistress grace if you like." Grace looked closely at the boy. "Where's the rest of your family, David?"
"That's a pretty name, Mistress Grace." He replied with a small smile. The smile disappeared when she asked about his family, which had always been a touchy spot for him. "Th-they're dead." He simply said, not wanting to go into details.
"Oh you poor kid." Grace said sympathetically. Out of instinct she grabbed the little boy and hugged him.
David stiffened a bit with surprise but didn't draw back, liking the warmth of the hug. He laid his head on her shoulder and let a few of the tears cascade down his cheeks, glad that Grace bought him.
The drivers voice could be heard outside. "Mistress, we've arrived at the mansion." Grace let go of the child and opened the door, still holding the chain. "Come along David."
(Sorry I was eating.)
David got up when Grace let go of him, following her out the door. He stopped when they were outside the carriage and stared at the mansion, dumbstruck. "Wow, It's so big." He managed to say, his mouth hangind open.
