Even though he lived in a village filled with slave owners he was surprised that a young woman owned a slave. "You're a slave? Does she own any others?"

David nodded, confused as to why he was surprised. "Ya, but they are all older than me." He said, wondering when the doctor was going to fix his arm.

"I see. Well, your arm is broken but we'll get it bandaged up. Excuse me but I have to make a call." The doctor got up and walked out of the room and grace walked in, smiling but a look of sadness still on her face. "Are you alright David?"

David nodded to the doctor, glad that he would get it bandaged. When Grace came in he smiled, clearly oblivious to her sad mood. "Yup, the doctor is going to bandage my arm after he finishes making a call." He said happily, the arm barely fazing him anymore.

"I'm glad you're going to be okay." She said smiling. After a little while, a woman in a suit arrived with the doctor. "Are you Daniel?" She asked from behind dark sunglasses.

David smiled at Grace, the smile disappearing when the lady in the suit came in. "Yes, why?" He asked, clearly confused. He didn't like the lady in the suit as soon as she walked in, she looked evil behind her glasses. He reached over and grabbed Grace's hand for comfort, ignoring the stare of the lady.

The woman looked at grace and then at the doctor. "This is his gaurdian I'm guessing. Ma'am I'm going to have to ask that you back away from the child." Grace gave the woman a look of anger. "And why would I do that? He's in here because of me. Who do you think you are to tell me what to do?" The woman returned the look ten times worse. "I'm with child protective services. We're here to take David from your custody."

David looked from Grace to the lady and back, clearly confused as to what was going on. "What's happening?" He asked, scared all over again. "I don't want to leave Grace." He added, tears in his eyes.

"I won't let you take him." Grace said as calm as she could. The woman peered over her sunglasses at grace, her vulture like eyes locked on. "Obviously you don't know the best for this child. You're too young and irresponsible to be in charge of a child. We will be taking him. And we will use force if necessary." The woman reached her hand out to David and tried to act kind. "You can trust us David. We'll take you somewhere you won't be hurt by her anymore."

"B-but she didn't hurt me." He said, even more upset now. His arm wasn't even bandaged yet and these people were trying to take him from Grace. "I like Grace, she's nice, pretty, and reminds me of my sister." He said sternly, gripping Grace's hand harder.

"You don't have to lie because she's here, honey. If you're afraid you can tell us about what she's done to you." The woman persisted.

"She didn't do anything!!" He yelled, getting angrier by the second. He was already tired of this woman trying to take him away from Grace, the only person to show him love and compassion since his parents died.

The woman frowned a little and grace continued to glare at her. "David, I'm starting to lose my patience honey. Either you come along willingly or I will have you moved out to another hospital by force."

David sighed, jumping off the bed. He looked up at Grace and hugged her gently, making sure his arm didn't move much. "I love you Grace." He said, tears in his eyes. David walked over to the lady in the suit, giving her an evil glare that said 'I hate you'.

The woman smiled semi evily and grace grabbed David and pulled him back to where she'd been sitting. "Don't you dare think of taking him away from me!" Graces hands moved to her katana but found it wasn't there. "Just give up already, would you? You're lucky I'm not calling the police. Come along David, lets get you to a good hospital so you can rest up and we can find you a nice foster family far away so she can't find you."

Tears flowed freely down his face, unsure as to what to do. He turned to Grace again, leaning in for a hug. When he put his head on his shoulder, he spoke softly to her so the other lady couldn't hear. "I saw your number in the house somewhere, so if she does bring me far away, I'll make sure to call you." He whispered reassuringly in her ear, pulling away right after so he wouldn't look suspicious.

Grace began to cry a lot. "I'm going to miss you David."

"I'm going to miss you too." David said, walking back over to the lady in the suit. He had a look of pure hatred on his face, his arm clutched against his chest incase she tried to touch him. "I'm ready." He said, biting his lip.

"Good, then we'll depart. Come along young David." The woman lead the way out of the hospital to a carriage. "Go ahead and get in."

David followed her out of the hospital and got carefully into the carriage, making sure his arm doesn't move too much. "What are you going to do after my arm is fixed?" He asked curiously, scooting against the far window.
