Grace walked over and observed his work. "You seemed to be pretty skilled David." She complimented. "Emily, I hope you and the girls get along nicely with little David. He's the newest one here so make sure to answer any questions he has about his job here." Emily nodded. "I'll introduce him to the rest of the girls after he's had dinner." Grace walked away out into the dining hall and sat down in her chair at the end of the table.

(Sorry for late reply, I was making a new character.)
David smiled at Grace momentarily, pausing the carrot cutting. "Thank you." He said before she started to talk to Emily. When Grace left, David had an idea that he might be able to carry out once he was finished cutting. A couple moments later he put the knife down carefully and wiped his forehead with his sleeve. "All done." He declared, a broad smile on his face. "Hey Emily, can I ask you something?" David asked, turning to where Emily was standing.

"Well, the mistress said you could ask me anything you needed to know so what is it?" Emily said as she washed her hands.

David looked around, satisfied that all the other maids were cooking, and leaned close to her ear. "Can I bring out Mistress Grace's plate?" He whispered, crossing his fingers behind his back.

"Why of course you can, David." Emily walked away for a moment and then came back with a bowl of soup on a silver platter. "Here you are. The dining hall is connected through that door over there so why not go and take it to her." The maid pointed to a door at the right wall of the kitchen. "I'll bring out your food shortly."

David smiled and pumped his fist in the air with a little "yes" when Emily walked away, regaining his composure when she returned with the platter. He headed towards the door and paused, nodding his head at her last statement. Sticking his tongue out, he concentrated on walking to the table carefully and not spilling the soup.

Grace sat calmly at the end of the table with her eyes closed, concentrating on how the day had gone so far when he heard someone open the door from the kitchen. Opening her eyes, she was surprised to see David. "I see you've already easily made an impression on Emily. Good to know you're already off to a good start, David."

David smiled up at Grace but said nothing, fearful that he would lose concentration and drop the plate if he did. Once he made it to where Grace was sitting he gently set the platter on the table and took the bowl off, setting it in front of her. "Tada!" He exclaimed excitingly, clapping his hands together softly.

"Soup! And my favorite too! David you're amazing!" Grace picked David up and hugged him. After a minute she sat down and began to slowly eat.

David was surprised by the hug again, but didn't stiffen this time. He wasn't used to getting rewards instead of punishments, maybe he just needed a mistress that cared about him. Sitting down in the seat beside her, he tucked his bare feet under his legs and watched the grandfather clock tick in the corner.
(Lol, I felt like giving it a little detail. )

After a couple of minutes, Emily brought out a silver platter similar to the one she had given David to bring to grace. The maid put the platter down in front of the little boy and lifted it, revealing a couple medium sized pieces of ham alongside some mashed potatoes. "Its your first day so I wasn't really sure what you would want so I made you that. I'll be leaving now, mistress." Emily bowed and left the room heading back into the kitchen, where talking could be heard amongst the other maids.

David smiled and thanked Emily, his mouth watering from the ham. When she bowed and left the room he picked up his knife and fork, imagining how good the ham would be. He could hear the talking but ignored it, cutting a piece of ham and dipping it in the mash potatoes. "This is really good!" He stated, swallowing the food in his mouth before talking.

"I'm glad you like it. I bought Emily because the man who owned her would beat her and she was a good cook. You're not the only slave that lives in this house." Grace continued to eat her soup.

"Really?" David asked, taking another bite of the ham. He had thought that the servants were just that, servants.

"Really. Although I have to say you are the youngest I've ever taken in. Anyway, what do you think of your new home, david?" Grace continued to slowly enjoy her soup.

(Sorry it took so long for a reply. Had to go to kung fu.)

(Understandable. I'll be going to bed in another hour anyways.)

"Coolness." He replied to both questions with the same answer. "I really like it here, it's the biggest house I've ever been in." He continued, trying to find the right words to say.

Grace tilted her head to the side and looked at him. "Really? I thought most people who owned slaves could afford mansions like mine."

David shook his head, his blonde hair getting into his eyes a bit. "Not all of them can, but yours is the biggest one I've ever been in."
