y/c is a newcomer to a sleepy town, hidden somewhere on the French country-side. You’re here to visit some family for the summer, before returning to work/school. Of course, though, you hadn’t been to this town since you were a child. You had no idea where anything was. Fortunately, you spot a quaint town square, filled with shops that seem to be open. As you walk towards the square, you spot a young, blonde, woman struggling to haul pounds of soil through her flower shop. Maybe she can help you with directions?

Magic is rare, but not unheard of. Mundane characters may or may not believe in it. Magical characters may form small and exclusive pockets for study, protection, etc.
Industrial revolution
Distant war may be part of the setting, but any scenes that happen to involve combat will likely be summarized, not played out in detail.
Romance will be a major feature of this plot.
