"It's a cure. No longer do you have to be different." she was told that more times in her life than, "I love you for what you are." Fact was, Alice liked who she was....
Extra limbs, tails and animal like ears, or even a little bit of change to the normal human form was considered a disease. It wasn't deadly until people wanted you dead. Scared people who didn't understand that there was nothing different about having the extra features and still having the human emotions, activities, or problems.
Alice had grown tired of all the ridicule. All of the pain and misfortune in her life was caused by people who just didn't care about her kind of people.
"They are an abomination and shouldn't be considered part of the animal or human species. They are truly 'aliens'."
"No...you guys are the aliens." she muttered as she watched the televisions in the TV store window. "Only you guys have no feelings or consideration for anything but yourselves." her ears twitched annoyingly.
She felt a pull on her shirt and looked down to find a little girl of about three. Human, innocent and loving. A smile was spreading across her face as she played with Alice's tail. Laughter and joy...this is what it should be like.
"CADENCE!!!" someone screamed and snatched up the little girl and giving Alice a 'you are a monster, stay away from my child' kind of look. "We don't associate with this...creatures." she tried to explain to the little girl whose only attention was Alice. The mother notice this and quickly started to walk away.
Sighing to herself, Alice turned back to the TV to see the crime scene that shook her, like it always had. Another one of her people, murdered. No justice, no jail time, just an sorry excuse. "The thing was in my way." or "I didn't see it."
It...always the term. No 'he' or 'she' just 'it'.
She had grown tired of this and began walking again....

Ceilibell had seen the scene the mother had made about her little girl being too close to someone different. It happened all the time and her red ears flicked in annoyance. She refused to let what inconsiderate people did to her bother her.
Her long red braided hair swung behind her like a second tail as it usually did. She wore a light eggshell skirt with a chocolate colored blouse. She held herself proudly, ignoring the looks she received, or rather, the people trying to look at anywhere but her.
She quickly caught up with the girl, her red tail swinging behind her. "Don't let it get to you. Most people around here are just ignorant."

She looked at the girl with a small smile. "It only gets to me because of horrible acts of murder to our kind an no one is there to take up for us." Alice closed her eyes. "It would be different if there was at least a few people that would stand up for us." they opened as she looked away, to see the crowded people of the city. "But at this point. I don't really see it happening."
The only hope they had now was the next generations, if they could prove themselves to the young children; like the little girl, they just may have a chance of a future and justice in this human world. Maybe her sister's murder would finally get the time in jail that he deserves.

Ceilibell looked at her with sad purple eyes. "I'm sorry about your sister. Lots of us have lost someone because of something senseless." She'd seen the news stories before, received the looks.
She shook her head risiliently at what Alice said. "We can't just let it up to others to stand up for us. We have to take a stand ourselves too. We have to be able to stand up for ourselves to show others that we're not so different. People are afraid of what they don't understand."

She gave her a side glance and realized that she may have shared more of her past than she should have. Even though the girl was one of her people, sharing stories was never intentional. "I'm sorry, I have been rude. My name is Alice." She gave a little bow and a slight movement of the tail. Sign of respect.
Alice wasn't old, but she was raised to greet others in this fashion because you never knew when you would see them again. It was the highest respect she could give. "I didn't mean you slow you down with my thoughts of the human race." She straightened back up.
"If I may, can I ask for your name?" She gave a small smile as she spoke. Even if all of her emotions were raging after the unpleasant memories that conversation had stirred back up, she still chose to hide the expressions of sadness that had welled up within her.

Ceilibell mimicked Alice's bow. Luckily, it hid her blushing cheeks. She felt a little embarrassed for getting so ahead of herself and shooting straight into ranting to a stranger. She never really did have very strong control over her emotions. A bit of irony, given her abilities. "My name is Ceilibell."
Her hand brushed against the golden flute at her hip, held in place by a clip on her belt. It was something she did unconsciously, drawing comfort from the cool metal.

Alice noticed the slight gesture and smiled. "Your a player?" Excitement lit her eyes and she couldn't help the feelings to repeat in her ears and tail. "I haven't heard our kind play in a long time. I remember singing in the festivals we held each year. Until they took over our land..." the sadness reappeared in her features.
Then an idea formed in her head, "What if..." she shook her head in doubt. Would they even listen? Would it be worth the shot? Her people were musical by nature, but many had lost the feelings of happiness to remember the lovely melodies they used to play. Alice decided, "What if our people held festivals again, but this time in the music we play, we could show humans that just like the music has it's different notes; the world....has different creatures but we can work together to make a song." She grinned again.
"And I would love it even more if you could play me a song, if you wouldn't mind that is. Its the start of a new era. We just need to convince more of our people to participate which will one of the hard parts." She straightened her clothes and held her hand out. "Are you with me?"

Ceilibell remembered the festivals as well. Thinking back to them always made her smile. So jovial and colorful. She'd even performed in a couple of them. That was also before she'd discovered the magic she could work with her music.
Alice's idea appealed to her. It was a good way of convincing people that her kind was simply a different kind of person. Not really any better or worse.
Ceilibell took her hand, grinning. "Of course I'm with you. I can't believe I didn't think of something like this before." Her other hand dropped down to her flute again. "And yes, I wouldn't mind playing a song for you. Whenever you like."

Alice shook her hand. "We will have to be careful though. Any humans find this out before it's time will make it even harder to accomplish. No telling what rumors or acts they my spread around. It may even kill more of us since we are trying to fight back." She was happy to hear that she would be listening to some of the music they used to play.
"We will have to find away to spread this around to more of our people without putting them in trouble. Do you have any ideas?" She looked at Ceilibell. If they could do this, then they could do anything. Buy there own houses, marry without fear that there mate will be murdered along with their offspring. They could be what they always dreamed they could be.

Ceilibell smiled a little sheepishly when Alice mentioned rumors and such spreading. Whether she was in or not, it would still happen, but if she joined then the rumors might have a little seed of truth. "Well...I do kind of have the ability to affect people's emotions with my music. Nothing really major...just amplifying emotions already there, or nudging them in a different direction. If we do this and humans found out, they'd wonder if I was manipulating them."
"That's exactly what I am talking about. If humans figure out some of us have abilities then they may result in violence." Alice started move away from the window. Humans wouldn't have been paying attention to their little conversation, but some of her people may go to the humans and give them away. Just to get on their good side. "We should start moving, it is getting late. Do you have a place to stay?"
(Sorry for not replying. I thought it had gotten abandoned and didn't check up.)

((That's ok. I broke my tablet which is what I usually RP on, and it took a while for me to get around to getting on my laptop.))
Ceilibell followed Alice as she started walking. She felt glad to have found someone who felt the same way about their people's mistreatment. She shook her head in answer to Alice's question. "I haven't been in town long."
