(This takes place when Viola is 24 and out of college.)Viola decided that it was a good day to take a swim. It was her day off and most everyone was no where near the beach, or at least the part she was at. She was in a blue bikini and had a towel with her. Of course, she did plan on going swimming in her human form. She went ahead into the water and once she was in waist deep water, she ducked her head in the water and shifted into her normal mermaid form. She swam farther out into the ocean, close to the bottom. She swam about, seeing all the bright and colorful fish that there was to see. She was out there for hours on end, she loved it so much. She found it easy to make new friends with the marine life. When she was about to head back up, she ended up getting caught in the tide, which knocked her around. She kept trying to swim out of it, but only got pulled in deeper. Soon, she head hit her head against a rock wall and passed out. It wasn't long until the tide subsided and she ended up being pushed to the shore, but nothing could be seen past her waist so she looked to be just a normal girl with long black hair, though her skin held a slight, pale blue tint to it.
Ridiculous. They had done it to him again, inviting him out only to leave him behind at the last moment. He wasn't stupid in any means, he knew exactly why they did it, but it would be nice for once that they didn't do it so obviously. Nova sighed kicking at a rock that was in front of him as he walked. His hands were in his pocket as he stared down at the ground watching the rock bounce around before it came to a stop. He supposed that it was alright though, he didn't want to be around them anyways. Who needed them and mean words that were only nice on the surface, he was perfectly fine with his alone time at the beach.
The teal haired man sighed leaving the walk way to the sandy shore pulling his shoes off when he got further towards the ocean. He rubbed at the back of his head lifting his eyes up to look over at the open water. At least there wasn't anyone around today was his first thought before his attention was pulled away and towards what looked like a body... that wasn't moving.
Nova tossed his shoes to the side, running the best he could towards her. "Hey, are you alright?!?" He called out, slowing down as he got closer. A girl it was a body. Crouching down besides her he reached over to pull her further up onto the shore. That was the first thing that needed to be done before anything, even enough to occupy him to the point where he had yet to notice that anything was off.

As she was pulled more out of the water, the blue and black tail began to show. She drifted back into consciousness and noticed that she was slightly out of the water. She looked about but her eyes were still having blackish purple dots blurring her vision. She blinked a couple times and then lookrd over at the boy who was helping her. "You need to step back." She said, still winded form the tide.
She couldn't tell if he did as she said but she closed her eyes as all her long black hair was gone and replaced with short hair. Her tail slipt into two legs, the blue and black fading away and just leaving behind tan skin. Her lower half was still covered as well as her top half of her body. After a couple moments, she opened her blue eyes and looked at the teal haired boy. "Thank you." She felt the back of her head and found the wound the rock left was dried up so the bleeding was stopped.

His feet slipped from under him as he got a little bit further up shore, freezing in his position when he looked further down. He stopped from trying to get up staring wide eyed. Her hair... and then that color... and and and... what was he doing she was saying something to him. What was she saying. Nova shook his head in attempt to clear his thoughts as well as the slight burning at the back of his head. "...you... and the water...and not moving... and I'm sorry, are you alright?" He tilted his head to the side still unable to keep his eyes off of her. Eck he must have sounded really stupid at that, if not that rude but what did he just see? His head was more of a mess then it usually was.
He should just go... yes, that would be a good idea, but he was curious as well as wanting to answer the questions that swarmed in his mind. Oh god he was still staring... Biting at his bottom lip, he slowly turned his head away. "Sorry."

Viola knew most humans didn't believe in any of the myths like mermaids and all that but she was a bit shocked to see such a reaction. He was completely dumbstruck, just starring at her like she was some hideous creature. "Uh..." she said, a bit bewildered at what to say to knock him out of his shock. She was glad to see him finally looked away form her and mumble an apologize. "It is alright. Let me explain." She said with a gentle smile. "I am a creature known as a mermaid demon, very rare but due to my mother's human genes, I was given morals and a human form. I am Viola." She held her hand out to him. Her vision was clear now and she was able to get back on her feet.
"Ah... um. You don't need to explain...I just... I've never seen-met someone like you before." He glanced back over at her when she told him her name lifting his head back up. Nova only looked at the hand that was held out to him thinking better of it and instead pulling at his sleeves so that they covered up his arms. The man stood up himself and rubbed at his shoulder before his stance straighten a bit. It took him a moment before he said anything else. "Nova. So a mermaid demon? How does one like that end up unconscious on the shore?" Adjusting his glasses he reached back to rub at the back of his head. Stay calm, no need to freak her out more then you already have, he told himself.
Viola stood up as well, actually completely dry expext fof her feet that had been in the water. She nodded simply then flushed with embarrassment at the mention of that. "Well, I was going for a swim since it was my day off and a high tide came in and I got swept in it. After a couple minutes of being crunched around, I hit my head against the cliff over there and I had passed out." She said, rubbing the back of her neck. She could feel the urge to bite at her nails, which were already bitten down as far as they could go without starting to bleed.
Nova nodded as she spoke taking a step closer to see if he could get a look at where she hit her head. "Ah, you should be a bit more careful then, you could have... hurt yourself pretty bad." At first he was going to say drown but he stopped himself at that. She was so calm speaking about him seeing it and finding out, then again so was he but it wasn't like it was any odder then what he dealt with. "Are you sure you're okay?"
Viola shrugged. "I am fine. I heal pretty quickly." She said then went over to where her towel and bag, picking them up. It was hard to see where she was wounded past her thick black hair. There was a bit of dried blood on the back of her neck but that was about it. She turned to look at Nova and smiled, "Thank you again for finding me before some psycho did." She knew all that could have happened. She was upset about someone had found out about her but at least it wasn't someone form her marine lab.
Heh... some sort of psycho, yeah. Wasn't like he was one... He slumped a wave of sadness washing over him as he thought back to why he was at the beach in the first place. Biting at his lip he rubbed at his shoulder. "Yeah, some psycho... um well, your welcome." Away, he needed to get away before he started freaking her out aahhhh but the curiosity he wanted to know. A mermaid demon was something new, nothing like the others he had met before
"Is there anyway I can repay?" Viola asked, she could see the curiosity burning in his eyes, she couldn't tell about his profession so much. "I have to rest of the day off form the lab so if you have any questions, I don't mind answering them." She said with a friendly smile. She understand the curiosity, it was only natural more so when upon meeting such a strange creature.
Nova smiled, she would really answer his questions. Wonderful. He looked back over to her letting his hands drop back towards his sides before he started moving, grabbing her hand and dragging her along with him as he headed back up towards the town. "Come on, no one will be there right now they're all out at lunch anyways, those bastards. Asking me to go with them and then leaving me behind." He started mumbling a bunch of other things under his breath before he stopped looking down at his feet. His sandals, those would be useful. Where did he throw them? "...Ugh, stupid stupid, where did they go..."
Viola was a bit surprised when he grabbed her hand but she followed him, wondering where he was taking her to. She was about to ask when she heard him mumbling, which made her frown. Why would they leave him behind? Whoever 'they' were, they didn't sound like such kind people. "That's cruel to do.." She said, somewhat thinking aloud. She looked around but couldn't see where his sandals were.
He frowned for a moment. Walking back without then wouldn't do. "Of course it's cruel, people are cruel! Find something that's different and they toss it aside like it odd or weird. Oh look at the wierdo he's at it again, stay away from him, leave him to his own- Ah, there they are!" Nova cut himself off when he spotted his shoes, going over to pick them up putting them back on his feet when he reached the sidewalk. The teal haired man turned back to glance back towards the girl. "Now then, it isn't too far, five minute walk tops." He was getting too warm again with his sweater on. Pushing his sleeves back up his arms, he gave her a smile entirely forgetting about all the burn marks on his arms.
Viola could understood how he felt, most of the guys at her lab would tell her to just feed the animals and say her ideas of trying to make a animal commutator was idiotic. She sighed and shook her head. She was going to say something but then he found his shoes so she shut her mouth. She walked over to the sidewalk and nodded. "Honestly, I don't see why they would do that to you. Nothing in this world is normal, not even humans. To be normal is to be the same." She said with a shrug then smiled. She noticed the burn marks but thought it best not to mention them.
He sighed as he started to walk. "Normalcy is a range a sort of thing that is looked upon as what is the majority... I just fit really outside the range. They do it to be mean, cruel, pity and then backing out, not wanting me around. Who cares about them anyways. Their opinions don't matter to me in the long run." Who was he kidding with that, he hated being alone everyone always left him, even his own sister didn't want to spend time with him. He scratched at the back of his head where the scar was that was covered up by his hair.
Viola frowned then smiled. "Well, then I'll be your friend. I don't mind if you are different, I am as well and I understand where you are coming form. The guys at my lab always say my idea of creating a commutator for marine life is plain stupid so they just tell me to feed the animals." She said with a shrug. When it came to her human form, they only thing that stood out of the norm was the bright shade of blue her eyes were but no one every cared to notice.
"That's different though, you can blend in. You can recognize and adjust. I can't, I can't help it, it all just happens and I don't realize it until after." Creating a communicator for marine life... that was something that sounded interesting. Just like he said it didn't take all that long to get to the building his lab was in. He pushed the door open and held it for her. There were several cages of lab rats along one of the walls including one that only held a lone chubby white one. Other then that there were several machines around as well as open counter space where he did his work. "Besides, that's what everyone says, telling me they'll be my friend and then they disappear one day."
Viola shrugged at that comment about how she can fit in the human world. "So? It shouldn't matter much." She said as they finally reached the lab she assumed Nova worked at. She wasn't so use to seeing animals in cages, so that was a bit of a set back for her but she didn't show it. She looked over at the lone white rat, which form what she could sense, it was lonely. She heard what Nova said and frowned at that. "That's the jerks you've met have done, not me. I don't care if you are strange and don't blend well into society, none of that matters to me. Being normal is boring in my opinion." She said.
"You don't understand! It doesn't matter who or what, weather your opinion is different or the same as everyone's! I ALLWAYS end up alone in the end!" Nova shouted slamming his hands down on the table that he was about to sit down at. He stood for a few moments glaring at Viola as his breathing stepped back down to normal. The man slumped down into the chair and put his hands over his head, pressing his face against the cool surface. "...I can't stop it. It always happens, not even my loved ones stay. It hurts and it only makes everything worse." He voice was quieter this time but he was almost in tears, closing his eyes to block out everything. The world never ended no matter how much he wished it could for him.
