I've yet to encounter someone on this forum who uses backhanded language yet. I might actually be one of the most crass people around here.

I try to be easy to be around, for the most part. I think I've been sarcastic with exactly one person in the 2 years I've been here and that was because they were being pretty rude to me and some others. They did not pursue it further. Maybe they'd never been checked before.

But yeh, folks are pretty cool here, tend to be pretty straightforward with their intentions, commonly gift each other stuff, still also respect each other's time and offline lives and the work of artists as being worth payment... It's a cool place.

Yeah I get that. I'm used to places online where everyone is like that and expects it.

It takes a bit of... well, time and effort to acclimate to a different environment

Also, it's hard to convey tone.

Tone tags can be useful but I actually get confused by them also...

What are tone tags?

They're things added to text that convey what is normally conveyed through vocal cues in speech.

Little tags at the ends of typing that're meant to convey tone. Like /j is joking, /lh is lighthearted... I don't remember others.

Some are... more useful than others.
