CAUSE I KINDA JUST DID.
(You know who you are.)
But yes! This got me thinking: Has there ever been a roleplay you've had that was exceedingly tragic? What about one that ended terribly for the characters?
Post about it! . Let's share stories.

Well it wont bas for everyone but my char fell in love with a prince who loved her back but ended up choosing another girl. After that my char fell into a fire and ended up dieing of a broken heart.
I love twists! I had my character fall in love with my previous gf's char, they led the resistance and my char died as well as free the people. The ex kinda hated me for doing it xD se got stuck to My char, Jaiden
Yeah, it ended like an hour ago and it was with YOU.
Seriously. That was the most incredible yet tragic roleplay. Ever.

I have literally cried during RPs. I've had so many that just rip my poor heart to shreds. I've cried during RPs much more than I would like to admit!

I know ;-;. I've never been so sad because of something like that aaaahhh....
It's such a long roleplay for me to attempt to explain though, I'm terrible at summaries.
@YOU OTHER TWO - Death in roleplays are very sad. I'm not entirely used to it myself lol.

I do sometimes, but it's usually when something exceedingly depressing is going on. I might have cried during my roleplay with Libertine ;. ;.
But I think if something like that can reach your heart so easily it must have been a good roleplay. .
I have, I truly have. It is not something that is thought about, when the two characters involved are enjoying themselves, but when it came to the scene that triggered a change and a choice, to choose one heart and break the rest...there was a -lot- of heated words and raised voices and fits.
I also believe that one character retired or, at least, took a break from having their heart broken by my character's choice.

My favorite thing was (and probably still is) breaking my old rp partner's heart. It didn't help that our characters were hopelessly depressing before hand. I'm a a cry baby too, so we were both sobbing wrecks once a month.
In particular was an emotionally traumatised girl who had her best friend fall in love with her. The twist was that her friend was actually a serial killer. It ended badly. UvU

That sounds really awesome, actually. . Sad, though. c:. But an interesting story nonetheless!
I actually remember a roleplay I had in the olden days of noobism. I used to play this banished prince type of character, because I was into those at one point, do not judge, and this character had bonded with someone else's and they became best friends.
It wasn't a sad roleplay or anything, most of the time it was just two beefy dudes being generally awesome and having fun. But at the end of it all his character just left. Turned out from our let's-call-it-a-boss-fight he got pretty badly hurt, but didn't want to tell my character because he'd be get heartbroken at his probable demise. So at the end of it, he just left, festering wound and everything. No note, no nothing. Just gone.
At the time it was pretty touchy, it was a sudden realization that everything comes to and end at some point, which made my character bitter and angsty I was a teen give me a break. But yeah, that was a pretty gut wrenching moment, the reality of it all.

It was a modern RP, which I rarely do, but my character was a psychologist at East Haven Mental Hospital. A patient had broken loose from the asylum and he was researching the guy's paperwork to get a grasp of where he might've gone, which is when MadRat's character stopped by and started up idle chatter {he's a very withdrawn character but loves talking about his work}.
Anywho, he walked her home only to discover later that the patient was at her place!
They faced the escaped insane asylum patient, they laid the ghost of my character's dead sister to rest {all the while being chased by her creepy insane side eek}, were attacked/shot by a mislead vengeful sheriff, visited a thrift store {which was quite scary for my high-end man thank you very much}, and finally went to a beautiful cabin to get away from the madness in town.
Once there, my character's beloved was pushed out of a window by a jealous maid, where a pack of hungry wolves were waiting ._.
She survived, but AS IF THAT WASN'T ENOUGH, the poor girl's sanity snapped. She became a patient at EHMH, but because of their affiliation it would have been a "conflict of interest" for him to be her doctor. Her mental state began to deteriorate {she believed that reality wasn't 'real'}. Out of desperation my character attempted to break her out, but they were trapped in an alley by a squad of policemen, and when he realized he couldn't save her he pretended to threaten the cops with a firearm and was shot to death. His beloved took his pistol and killed herself at his side.
Happy Valentines Day.
Damn.

Omg your freakin' avatar makes me think of this guy:
Nah, I'm not judging! It sounds very fleshed out for noob rp anyway so kudos to you haha.
I can see that still being sad. I probably wouldn't cry if my character was in that situation but it'd hurt cause I'm a pansy. .

;-; Yep... Pretty much. That was a really great summary actually! Better than what I was typing up. .
GOD I feel the same way though. Like it ended perfectly but it still hurts so bad ahahahaha.

Ugh, My character Roosevelt fell in love with a character named AJ or Red (she was a vigilante). The problem was, she had an alien inside her and, well, long story short, that character was killed. Anyway, the funeral was so tragic that both me and the other player were both in tears as we wrote it out--and, I just haven't had the heart to play Roosevelt since. That was probably last year some time.
So...yes. I have had an RP that tore out my heart.
A more recent one was the death of two NPCs, one that happened to be an important member of Zeke O'Malley's team. Her death pretty much caused the team to blow up at each other....and yeah. And the other was Addison Scott's father. Neither was good. I was in tears for those too. But...it's kinda neat to be that involved with another person's character that when they're killed off, you end up mourning for them.

Speaking as someone rather sturdy when it comes to sentiments, it was very recently that my best friend and I came about writing the histories of our characters; we thought it would make an interesting project to expound on them and entwine them together.
This transpired on a complete and utter total whim, merely some measly suggestions that suddenly grew and grew as we came to discuss them more. Enthusiasm matured into exploit. Fingers hammered frantically against keyboards. The story on my part must be well over 20k words by now.
Think of it as writing a novel with your RP-partner. You feed from each-other in the exact same way.
We found that as we began writing out the histories from the respective characters POV (and also role-played out various scenes to act as the base) that there was a connection; the characters feelings were raw, as though we were experiencing their tribulations first-hand.
I can honestly say, so far these stories have lay waste to my feelings. I genuinely cried, ladies and gentlemen. Feeeels.

Mm, I've gotten excited about RPs, angry about RPs (usually when it was the player actually being a douche, rather than any IC issues), sad about the loss of some RPs and the ability to play with some of the players I've favored... But I'm not sure I've ever gotten particularly sad about an RP. I've had characters go through some pretty sad stuff, yes... but I don't know. The drama tends to amuse me. Maybe I'm just a monster.
I had a character who was begrudgingly falling for a guy and ended up dying for him, only to end up revived ages later in the body of a child, where she got to watch him develop a romance with another woman.
I had a character whose first romance was complicated by them being from different realities and only being able to meet in dreams. When he vanished for awhile, she gave up on him, only to find out (upon meeting him while awake) that he'd spent a much longer time in his own world searching for a way to actually be with her. Her guilt tainted her view of having any relationship after that, and she became that weird chick that defends her ex and his new lady by any means she can.
I had a character who adopted a lover's child, only the have him take that child away from her; then have two children of her own with her husband later on, only to lose her husband and one of those children, while the other child rejected her for being overbearingly protective.
I have a little girl who is still waiting for her mother to come get her, without realizing that her mother died protecting her.
Dunno, maybe it'd be a little different if so many of the RPs I've been in hadn't died out prematurely.
