With the exception of three characters, just about all of my others are modern. Then I have one that is best of both worlds. For modern characters, I have quite a long list (and I am absolutely not exaggerating), so I hope y'all ready. And most of them would be placed in the early 2000s all the way to 2023, possibly beyond. And a large majority of them have training in Martial Arts.

Alice Miyazaki - An LAPD Cop with a reputation as a loose cannon because of her hot temper, smart mouth and itchy trigger finger.

Ashley Hawksworth - Modern variation of Princess Aurora from Once Upon A Time. Also an original character and can be used in a Fantasy setting.

Brenda Lamoureux - A student athlete and aspiring musician that unexpected got knocked up following a one-night stand at a party and choosing to carry the pregnancy to term.

Brianna Rosario - A Weed Dealer who is ready to exit the game after unexpectedly getting pregnant, even though she was already planning to clean up her life.

Brianna Shimamoto - A former street racer and a pregnant widow who lost her husband in a grisly murder. To make matters worse, she's expecting twins, dealing with antenatal depression as a result of the loss and scared of going through labor and delivery by herself, which was her greatest fear as soon as that pregnancy test came back positive.

Crystal Gilcrest - A bitter ex-cheerleader who turned to street racing to cope with her Mother's death as well as family drama because she doesn't see eye to eye with her Father or Brother.

Emma Millier - A US Navy SEAL Veteran who has turned to violent vigilantism after her boyfriend was killed in a drive-by shooting, no one was arrested and law enforcement turned a blind eye.

Giselle Song - A former MMA Fighter going into Street Racing after being blacklisted from partaking professionally.

Harmony Ishimoto - An Board Sports Enthusiast and YouTuber expecting her first child.

Helena Quintrell - A pregnant Underground Boxer who should probably look towards a career change, but hasn't. Inspired by Suicide Squad's Harley Quinn.

Henry Saverino - An Extreme Athlete who became a Soldier of Fortune after being unable to find peace following his Father's death and avoiding jail time.

Jack Palace - A Student Athlete who is turning to sports to cope with childhood trauma inflicted by extended family. The feeling of being unwanted and unwelcome has also left him with social anxiety which became more and more difficult to overcome the older he got. Hopes to get into professional football after college.

Jasmine Minamoto - A US Diplomatic Security Service agent favored by her superiors for her proficiency in combat and counter-terrorism.

Jesse Nevins - An aspiring Auto Mechanic going down the wrong road to help his Stepmother make ends meet after his Step-Brother moves out to pursue a music career. His Father is currently serving prison time for accessory to murder. Also deliberately allowed his Step-Sister to go to Juvenile Detention for Vandalism, Assault and Battery because he was resentful of how she had treated him during his high school years.

Jessica Shin - A former Basketball star who's career ended abruptly after assaulting a cheerleader. Turned to Extreme Sports and Mixed Martial Arts for comfort while also taking care of her wheel-chair bound younger sister. After graduation, she eventually turned to street racing due to not being able to continue to play basketball after high school.

Justina Yang - An Extreme Sports Enthusiast that holds the Guiness World Record for Most Sports and Most Sponsors, considered one of the most highly paid athletes in the world as a result. Runs a YouTube Channel to both showcase and review sports gear. As she is expecting her first child, she currently does pregnancy vlogs to put out 'bumpdates' on her pregnancy and to show off sponsored maternity wear.

Kaiya Ashikaga - A former Motocross Star and Vice President of a vicious motorcycle club known as the Crimson Fangs. With an unplanned pregnancy, she is ready to set down both her sword and gun to go live in solitude and the decision is fully supported by the gang's president.

Kimiko Ren - President of the Crimson Fangs motorcycle club. Descended down a dark path after avenging her Brother's death after being unable to find peace or live an honest life.

Kimiko Tachibana - A Hot-headed and brash Diplomatic Security Service Agent known for taking down her targets fast and hard with little to no mercy.

Lorenzo King - An extremely skilled Athlete and Outdoorsman who practically lives and breathes sports. Also probably has too much time on his hands with all the sports and outdoor activities he is engaging in. Last but not least, he comes from a long line of pro athletes.

Marissa Tamura - A Bakery owner who moved from a big city to a small town after having a falling out with her parents because of an unplanned pregnancy. She is expecting twins while her Older Sister is expecting triplets.

Nicole Stevens - A therapist who moved to a small town after getting her psychology degree and license to be a therapist. Happily married and now expecting her first child.

Richard Wilson - A student athlete whose bad decisions led to him being kicked out of his respective sports teams after using his family's wealth to escape legal punishment. Although he found solace in extreme sports, his life continued to go down hill and after a falling out with his Mother, Richard turned to street racing and eventually escalated into more criminal activity after joining up with a local ring.

Richter Soroka - A former mercenary who has set down his guns to living a quiet life out in the countryside. But danger is on the horizon.

Royce Santana - A former gangster who exited the game for a better life after being given a second chance following a violent rampage. Now a street cop for NYPD. Fresh off suspension following the death of his mentor.

Ryuuga Murakami - A retired hitman who is now living the American Dream as a billionaire socialite. Throws parties on the weekends and loves going to social events. But it's getting a little boring...

Shinoa Bradford - A young nature photographer in her senior year of high school who is living a mostly happy life with her family, her dog Max and fraternal twins that are on the way.

Sindy Tamura - A hardworking bartender who moved to a small town after exiting the tech industry and to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. As she settles down, she is also getting ready to not only welcome the triplets she has on the way, but the twins her sister is carrying as well. Sister goals!...Kind of.

Taylor Shin - A former US Army Ranger and the CEO of Odin Security Corps, a Private Security Company with the goal of providing employment opportunities to military veterans after exiting the military. Despite establishing a reputation internationally, the company has trouble establishing a reputation in the mainland U.S.

Theresa Elliot - A strict, but fair High School Teacher who wants to push her students to succeed, but will not hesitate to confiscate their cell phones. She teaches the subject of Government and Contemporary World Issues for twelfth grade students. Despite being stern, her teaching style is also much more laid back compared to other teachers, as she prefers to lecture and have open discussions or even debates with her students. Other then that, she only has them take notes while watching documentaries or write out 'response logs' to specific articles. Last but not least, she also has one day out of the week where she allows students to catch up if they are behind. In addition to being a teacher, Mrs. Elliot is also expecting twins.

Waverly Princeton - A Martial Arts enthusiast coming from a large, loving family. Underneath a hot temper and a fierce demeanor belies a gentle heart. After graduating from college, she followed in her Mother's Footsteps and became a Police Officer for the LAPD.

Newest Addition to my roster, the Tran Family (Currently Four Sisters and their cousin...and all the babies on the way).
Jessica Tran - The Tran Sisters' Cousin and an only child. Unlike her four cousins, Jessica went through a rough childhood, raised by her Mother and almost never seeing her Father, who only sent her a weekly allowance up until she was eighteen and spoke to her only once a month. During High School, she learned that her Mother was weaponizing her against her Father in Family Court. And to make matters worse, she eventually learned that her Mother was also alienating her from her Cousins. Because the relationship was already bad between Mother and Daughter, Jessica snapped and left home as soon as she became an adult. Now, several years later, Jessica is facing an unplanned pregnancy, but has opted to keep the baby. And keep her as far away from her Mother as possible. Although she is scared, she is very happy to have such a strong support network, even though all her cousins are expecting as well and she is still working on building a relationship with her Father.

Veronica Tran - The eldest of the Tran Sisters. Veronica grew up to be pretty tomboyish, being into videogames, sports, guns, cars, etcetera. Of course, that didn't stop her from playing dress up with her sisters, going to dances and even indulging in the occasional tea party, being closest to her Sister, Valerie. After graduating from College with a degree in Criminology, her life went downhill and she was frequently getting into trouble left and right, eventually becoming the 'family screw-up'. Rather then getting her act together and pursuing a career, Veronica instead joined a gang and engaging in drug trafficking, gaining a reputation as a hot-head with an itchy trigger finger. After nearly a decade in the game, Veronica made her exit, out of the game life and drug trafficking. After straightening out her life, Veronica reconnected with her family and is now expecting identical twin boys. Even though it was unplanned, Veronica has a strong support network and feels confident about being a Mother.

Valerie Tran - The second oldest of the Tran Sisters. Valerie was very similar to Veronica growing up, being both tomboyish and into a lot of the same activities, just with different tastes. Hell, Valerie even went into a similar field in college, going for psychology. Willing to go through thick and thin for Veronica, Valerie also followed her into the criminal life, even if she didn't entirely agree with the drug trafficking. Eventually, the life became too much, and Valerie decided to exit the game, again following Veronica, but ran into more trouble during the process. Once she did get out, she got into a relationship, which has sadly ended rather abruptly. But she was left with one final gift with the end of that relationship. Now Valerie is preparing to welcome a darling little prince. Her only wish from here is for her son to have a strong male role-model.

Victoria Tran - The 'Middle Child' of the Tran Sisters. While not being into a lot of the same activities as Veronica and Valerie, who were 'glued together by the hip', the common ground for her with her two Older Sisters, were cars, which she had taken a great interest in, to the point where her Father began getting books for her on cars and auto mechanics. This eventually led her into Car Tuning, which led to Street Racing. So in her High School years, Victoria was quite the speed demon and a well-known racer. Well, at least until her Driver's License got suspended on the grounds of several tickets on reckless driving and speeding. The suspension lasted until she graduated high school. Rather then going to college, Victoria went to trade school to become an Auto Technician. Now she runs a tuning shop of her own where she doesn't only work on cars, but motorcycles too. And even works on many of the vehicles herself. Though recently, she has relegated to a desk job, as she is now expecting a little princess.

Vivian Tran - The Youngest of the Tran Sisters. Unlike her trouble-making sisters, Vivian was the most well-behaved, staying out of the trouble and mischief that her three older sisters were often engaged in. As a student, she was known for being very attentive and being a fast learner. By no means was she top of her class, but Vivian did become Captain of the Varsity Girl's Tennis Team. This was where trouble would come and find her as she became overconfident and started to bite more then she can chew, which began leading to burnout. To counterbalance the burnout, Vivian began taking focus pills to maintain herself. When teachers found out about this, Vivian was suspended from school for an entire month. During that time, Vivian worked on kicking the habit and slowed down, taking on one thing at a time rather then all at once. After High School, Vivian decided to take it easy and travel the world a little before attending University. Afterwards, she decided to travel a little more. Well, at least until that pregnancy test came back positive. So looks like those trips are being postponed until her little princess is ready to travel.

This is a seriously impressive list of characters - also I love characters with families. After years of TTRPG with a bunch of murderhobos, my main conclusion is that all characters are more interesting when they love other people

...I'm more into victorian/neo-victorian characters.

I guess that Nicki is the only modern day character I have. Although if we're going by what characters I have tagged in the Modern category, you could also include Mrs Mason, Pipes, Tensai, and Theo.

Marionne here is my radio DJ character I play either in modern day or recent historical. I try and include all my musical interests in her profile, and should I get more than an hour or two a month to work on it, it will take better shape. Clearly a work in progress.

I only have a few:

Chloe Sanderson - the 25-year-old girlfriend of the late Charles Donovan (who died in a helicopter accident on Isla Nublar and was two years older than Chloe) who survived the crash (the helicopter landed on its side and didn't ignite) and is now living on Isla Nublar along with Charles' aunt, Dr. Lisa Donovan and her colleague, Dr. Jonathan Morris. Charles and Chloe rescued some Compy eggs in an abandoned facility near Chloe's hometown in San Diego before commandeering a helicopter (luckily Charles had some lessons from his father that used to be a Navy helicopter pilot in his youth) and being shot down over what they believed were one of the islands of the Five Deaths, but was actually the island of Isla Nublar 85 miles to the northeast. These events take place after Jurassic World: Dominion

Lisa Winchester - the daughter of one Sam Winchester and Eileen Leahy and the younger sister of Dean Winchester the second. Though her parents (especially Sam) didn't like the fact that she was entering into the world of the "family business" often try to convince the only redhead in the Winchester clan to get the anti-possession tattoo like her younger brother, Dean. Lisa's a lot like her late uncle, and was named after a former flame of his (Lisa Braeden),

Marida Grady - originally from the Blue Mountains in Middle-earth, she came across a "time portal" in an abandoned section of Erebor after a "falling out" with one Thorin Oakenshield of Erebor. They were married for about three years before Marida just couldn't take it any more and vowed to get as far away from Thorin as she could. It was the soothing voice of former Jurassic World Raptor Trainer, Owen Grady, that led her astray. When she overheard a conversation between Thorin and his advisor, Balin, about her going into the arms of another man, the thought never occured to her before, since she's been with Thorin for as long as she could remember (they first met when King Thror brought his grandson, Prince Thorin, to the Blue Mountains to inspect the cave-in that killed her mother, Michaela, who was a woman of Dale).

Finding that "time portal" that led to the tropical island of Isla Nublar was the best thing that's ever happened to her, because although the island suffered a volcanic eruption of Mt. Sibo, Marida never left, just went to live in an underground bunker with her new husband, Owen Grady. Owen and Marida aren't the only humans left on the island, one Lowery Cruthers opted to stay behind when learning that the co-worker he had a crush on , one Vivian Krill, was already taken.

When I was last here, I had listed out a relatively large number of characters from the Modern Day. Well, that number has gone up a little bit since and just thought I'd introduce some newcomers, having found a lot of old characters from other sites where their respective RPs have ceased and I wanted to give the characters a new home.

Ashley Carla Devereaux - A widowed paramedic who lost her entire immediate family as well as her husband. While one of her younger sisters is still alive, the two have become estranged following the funeral. Alone, Ashley has chosen to commit to her career as a Paramedic while preparing to be a single mom. She is very anxious about childbirth mainly because she is going to be in the delivery room by herself with no support.

Kasey Leona Madonna - A Software Engineer hailing from a Military Family. Robbed of her Happily Ever After following her Husband's death overseas. Along with becoming a widow, her dream of having a family has been shattered. Just as she goes into labor, Kasey finds herself trapped when the hospital goes into lockdown spurred by a possible zombie outbreak. (Originally created for a Zombie RP)

Leona Jin Kang - A former drug dealer and petty criminal once eager for a better life. Once she was able to, Leona would choose to go down a better path and became a Sniper under the employ of Federal Law Enforcement.

Linda Tran - A new addition to the Tran Family. Linda is Jessica's younger half-sister (Same Father, Different Mother). The two began a loving familial relationship when Jessica started rebuilding her life after cutting contact with her now-estranged Mother. On the other hand, one of Linda's Best Friends recently passed away in a Car Accident and has turned to her Half-Sister and their Cousins, whom she has also met recently, for emotional support. Because all these events took place as she entered the third trimester of her pregnancy, Linda needs the love and support from family more then ever. Guess it helps that her Older Sister and her Cousins are all expecting too...

Tracy Kim - The Youngest of Three Siblings in a working class family. Tracy's life turned upside-down after getting pregnant, with her parents kicking her out of the house and ceasing contact with her. Despite this, Tracy has started rebuilding her life ahead of the arrival of her bundle of joy with the help of both her older siblings.

Yoshimi Huynh - A former Yakuza Hitwoman who was betrayed by her own employer despite having spent much of her life serving them both faithfully and exceptionally after her love affair with the Boss' Son was discovered. This betrayal hurt more then the gun wounds. After learning that she's pregnant, Yoshimi was quick to return to exact revenge on her former comrades and her boss, armed with an Uzi and a Katana, effectively killing her way to vengeance. During an escape, Yoshimi and her husband would be swept up in a deadly car accident. While Yoshimi and her baby survived, her Husband...and her Memories...did not. Following a lengthy coma, Yoshimi would awaken once more during the third trimester of her pregnancy. Now also suffering from amnesia (To the point where she forgot that she's pregnant when she first woke up), Yoshimi struggles to rebuild her post-criminal life while also preparing for the arrival of her daughter.
