hi, my name is carbon, and i am both character and host of this particular writing profile. i am an experienced writer that enjoys the informal aesthetic of advertising in all lower case, and is not particularly retentive about general grammar rules. legibility can be lost to literacy, and i also just don't think hobbies should be stressful. i write 3-5 paragraphs, or i do chat rp, or i do novella with thousands of words, but novella burns me out if i don't love the characters, the ship, and the story line. which is fair. when was the last time you wrote five thousand words about something you don't like???
i am an lgbtq+ that writes lgbtq stuff. even when it isn't rp, most of my short stories focus on non monogamous, non monosexual, non traditional relationships of some sort. which is incredibly funny, because i am married with kids. well, engaged with dogs, but for me it is about the same. please ask me about my dogs. i will tell you all about them. i always have new pictures.
aside from all of that, the primary reason i am here is to find new people to write with. that isn't always easy because i don't always know what i really want to write. that is not true for me now though. i know exactly what i want to write, and it is an original (as anything can be) concept by me that i have nick named VKS. VKS is the name of a manor that exists in an interdimensional, magical world. The Lady of the Manor is the mysterious authority that keeps the house, and all of its occupants and guests, safe. She also regularly invites the best and brightest minds of all of those dimensions to visit the manor and meet.
your character could be anyone and be from anywhere, when they are invited to the Manor. there are many stories to be told here, but the primary stories i want to tell are:
a group of visitors that have never come before, invited to have dinner at the Manor with the Lady. Before they can reach the manor, they must first transverse the Garden. this beautiful evening stroll is rife with curious experiences and dangerous twists before they can reach the manor. this was originally a campaign i wrote for a tabletop rpg play thru before i realized i don't have the chops to gm. the social anxiety is real, y'all.
i also really want to write someone living and working in the manor. they could be someone laboring there as an apprentice or even just be a house keeper, but i want to write someone whose whole world becomes this magical house and the grounds that surround it. honestly, if they could come from a different realm and slowly lose that realm to the experience of this world, i think it would be fantastic.
i also want to play a group of guards for the manor. this ancient, beautiful house hasn't stood for more than a millennia through idol incompetence. plenty would want to use this rift between realities as a way to gain power, and it is the duty of the Lady and those that serve the Manor to make sure that never happens.
honestly, i could probably list more, but i have this *thing* about threes. it's my favorite number and i am constantly favoring it. i also favor writing romantic pairings, but that is from a lack of writing platonic pairings. i just need a connection and a motivation, and i find it very easy to find motivation in service of others. ideally, i'll be challenging myself with some of my characters in one on one and group stories.
aside from VKS, I'll definitely be posting other ideas and characters as i can.
If you are looking for a writing buddy, feel free to hit me up. Aside from VKS, I'll do my best to post a variety of other ideas, plots, and characters as I can, but I am also always curious about apocalyptic and post apocalyptic lines, as well as anything to do with elves, wizards, and dystopian futures.
Is there a proper name for the genre "post-modern social decay"? When it is, like, an indeterminate number of years in the future and everything just kind of sucks a little more? Everything is polluted, and the world is generally kind of grimmer and grayer than now? What's that called? I love that setting, especially for the most loving, hopeful stories to take place in. Just people helping people kinds of stories. It gets me right in the feels, and I have this one cliche af story about two people in a 300 story apartment building who happen to meet. one character is a street wise but overall kind mechanic and the other is a by product of the endless war and an amputee by bomb. both of them are surviving separately, but together they bring color and joy into each other's lives and get a chance to bloom.
I am also obsessed with the world that was going in The Memory Library by Janelle Monae. If you are like "I too like a grim future where love is still complex" I would 10/10 recommend this book.
I would also HIGHLY recommend the Locked Tomb series by Tasmyn Muir. Gideon the Ninth is a book that drags you from one cover to the next without letting go, and I loved it and both sequels equally. Honestly, Harrow the Ninth is actually my favorite, but that is because I love Harrow so freaking much. If nothing else, if absolutely nothing else, the books are an entire Vibe because of the Necromancy in space. The "Nine Houses" are also each a Vibe, and Harrow has bone magic. She raises giant skeletons and kicks ass constantly. Gideon is also a delight. The badass master swordsman who [redacted]. It's everything.
Also, ironically despite my recommended reading, I tend to prefer to write androphilic characters, but I am open to giving anyone a shot. Just know that the character profile for Carbon is going to be my "Carbon Copy" character. This bih can be skinned and reskinned to fit into any story, and he is who I typically write. Of course, for different stories that require different characters, I will come up with something fresh. It's just nice to have some building blocks in the atoms of my characters.
If you have any questions or curiosity, don't hesitate to hit me up. I use discord and email equally, but I don't touch google or google docs.
Alright, I think that just about winds it up. Thanks for reading and have a great day/night/week!

Welcome
Welcome to RPR, we hope you enjoy your time here and find the rps and people you are looking for!
Hey there welcome to RPR 😊 This is a great community.
Hello Carbon! Welcome to RP Repository!
VKS does absolutely sound like a great ttrpg! The 300 story apartment prompt also sounds nice. I loove "world sucks but love" stories too!
Looks like you have plenty of ideas. Looking forward to seeing some RP ads from you, and I hope you find what you're looking for soon!!

Hello and welcome to RPR!! I really like these ideas you have. They're really interesting!
What an epic introduction! Enjoy here!
welcome to RPR! please tell me about your dogs PLEASE-
I absolutely love that you know exactly what you're looking for in your writing. I would give anything to have that kind of resolve. My issue is commitment, but I can wholeheartedly say that my hyper-fixations and how quickly they change make me the biggest transient I know. 😅 But the characters I currently write for are some of the longest-lasting I have had in my manifest, so here's to hoping I can settle down and enjoy them for all their loveliness.
I love the premise of a dimensional waypoint for peoples characters to stumble upon -- we had that in a space station for a Star Trek related role-play. It was caught in a time stream that welcomed characters both original and canonical from all over any universe. My goodness, it was so much fun. The station was named Tempus-Zero. Ah, the good ol' days...
I really hope to see your work throughout RPR! It sounds very fascinating -- oh, and the other setting you spoke of is, I think, called post-apocalyptic. After the damage is done and the setting is grey and miserable, I think that is what that is called.
A suggestion if you don't mind, is you could create a group page for your VKS premise and spruce it all up. Then you can advertise it to the masses and folks will come-a-runnin' to see it. I know I would love to check it out. My time is always so sparse so dedicating myself to something in Discord would be difficult. I do much better with a forum or message-based RPs.
Also, I love your babies already because I have two daughters and they are the most rotten, overfed princesses in existence. They are a mother/daughter duo of calico cats. So I guess I'm dad and granddad? 🤔 Either way, I would be happy to share images of our precious infants! 🤩
I hope RPR turns out to be a wonderful platform for you to host your stories and world-building. I also hope you have a good time here -- check out the forum games if you want some amazing prompts that force you to really think about your characters. They are so much fun!
Take care!
