She smiled at Nylain yet again,making it sure he knew that he was not going to be alone. She was going to be there by his side,"You know that I will stand by you,Prince Nylian, I will never leave your side."She told him,like Yume told him many times before. Which to some degree this was true, just as long she was in a good mood like today. Once again she patted his upper arm before taking a few steps back."Come on, let's leave him be until we leave."She suggested.
Once Yume walked off she stopped in a hall with slightly shaky breathe. The tone Nylian had used, he sounded so tired of all of this, and as if he no longer really understood why they did this.. Yume thought back to when Nylain often claimed Yuki was alive, the one boy she didn't care if he died,but the way he explained it made it clear that his younger twin was alive. Just another lose end she had to get rid of, even if that meant that she would get her hands dirty in the process Yume didn't care. "I won't let the little boy get away this time, Nylian can't know about what really happened."Yume said to her self.
Spot nuzzled Lathai's hand,taking in all the affection he could. The white and black rabbit loved getting attention from others,it some how him feel like he did something right and this was his reward. This was a good morning. He then stopped when Yuki's uncle once again spoke.Yuki looked up from Spot,he recalled the first time he saw Uncle Lathai fight. The man seemed happy to be in battle, and very very deadly. Involuntarily a shudder passed through Yuki when he recalled his first time seeing Lathai like that. So to hear that this war even go to him of all people, it did make him wonder what was the right choice.
At first, a strong feeling hope fluttered in Yuki's chest when he had heard that the small search party had returned, but after hearing they didn't find him it felt like some one had crashed that hope. As if it was as delicate as butterfly his hope was shattered. But soon,that butterfly faded into something much worse, angry, hate and revenge. He knew that Lathai was talking about Yume. Subconsciously his hand went to his side, resting it against his rib cage...that woman could have killed him that night with as hard as she hit him, or what she hit him with. Yuki recalled that she had broken his ribs, his left hand trembled in the memory of that night and that pain.
"..I'm glad to hear that Uncle Sina has helped us..but" He trailed off, he had been smiling but now he was glaring."..that woman..Yume. If she knows what is good for her health ,she will let Ny go..if she has him."

Nylian watched Yume walk away, waiting to see if her dark minions obeyed her. Those he could see, those possessing human bodies, they did so immediately, but the ones he could only sense…those one hesitated. Much to his relief, though, they left as well, giving him the peace and privacy he needed. However, rather than going down to eat his breakfast, he returned to the safety of his rooms, his appetite gone. Drifting over to the window, Nylian pressed his forehead against the cool glass, his eyes sliding closed, his heart and mind in utter turmoil. He grew tired of the fighting, of having to go out and fight a way he no longer believed in no matter the cause. Yes, he wanted to avenge his parents and uncle, he wanted blood for blood, but sometimes he wondered if all this death was worth it. Nylian wasn’t even sure he’d reclaim the throne he was once destined for, so much sorrow, so much loss weighing his young heart down. Unfortunately, he couldn’t admit as much to Yume. He wasn’t entirely sure how she’d react, but he knew he wouldn’t like the results. For that reason, he eventually accepted he could not escape this and began preparing for the battle, pulling on the heavy black hooded cloak before walking out of his room.
Lathai turned to study his nephew, his gaze shifting down to note where Yuki’s hand rested. A scowl once more marring his elegant features, he shook his head, his own thoughts turning to that night and the moment he realized how seriously injured his young nephew was. Yume’s minion hit Yuki, little more than a toddler at the time, so hard Yuki had several broken ribs, one piercing his lung. Fortunately, the healer survived and was able to save the young prince’s life, but Lathai didn’t fool himself. Yume intended for Yuki to die, that only troubling. However, he had a greater concern, at least considering Yuki didn’t die.
“My brother is happy to help in any way he can. If he could, he’d be standing here beside us leading the campaign to bring Nylian home,” he murmured, Lathai looking back out the window, hoping he did the right thing in telling Yuki his true thoughts. At the same time, he never lied to Yuki and he wouldn’t start now. “I’m worried, Yuki. She set out to kill you, that we know, and I can even wager a guess as to why. What we don’t know is why she took Nylian, why she staged the attack to get to your brother. That…that worries me to no end.”

From that night on Yuke had always thought that she had aimed to kill him,and at first when Lathai conformed this..all he knew for a while was terror. He hadn't liked her before,but to know that just made things so much worse. Yuke removed his hand from his side to pet Spot in hopes of trying to forget that for a little bit. Even if it was two minutes he wouldn't mind. Yuke looked at his uncle, slowly facing him as he talked about his other Uncle Sine..it had been so long since he had seen him. At this point he didn't really remember what the man looked like, there was only blur with a voice. Even so,to hear that he belied in Yuke and that he was more than willing to get his twin back made him very happy.
Yuke shuddered,yes, he knew she wanted him dead. That wasn't something Uncle Lathai needed to remind him of."..trust me..I know."The teenager muttered,biting his lower lip. Things like that made Yuke think about everything for many hours on end, at times weeks. Just what was that witch thinking? "..I know..if she really dose have him,I guess it's safe to assume that she is only using him."Yuke said, although it sounded like he was more asking Lathai about that. If he thought the same thing.

His frown deepening, Lathai returned to his nephew’s side, guiding the youth to meet his gaze, winking at the boy. “It doesn’t matter why she wants him at her side, that she’s using him. We will bring your brother home, Yuke. Do not forget that. Do not give up hope,” he whispered reassuringly, studying his nephew’s features, searching those ever changing eyes. “You know, I see more and more of your parents in you every day.” Pulling Yuke into a warm embrace, he held his youngest nephew, all the while being careful of Little Spot. Lathai just wanted to let Yuke know he wasn’t alone in the world and he never would be. “Come on. We need to prepare and head out. I will not let her forces too deep into the kingdom, so the sooner we meet them, the better.”
Yuke looked at his uncle, his eyes seemed to be changing again but to a paler color. Even so he manged a small smile for Lathai, he was right. "I know, I will never give up.."Yuke replied, Despite all that had happened Yuke had vowed to never give up, that he would remain standing for as long as he could. Yuke tilted his head slightly, his parents that had lost 275 years ago, from what he remembered they were amazing people. So to hear that made his smile grow a bit more, it just made it seem like they would have no reason to be upset with Yuke. The teenager blinked a few time he didn't expect Lathai to hug him, and he chuckled softly as Spot looked up at Lathai.
Right, battle. Yuke nodded silently, as he set Spot on his bed. "I won't allow that either, well..."He trailed off, within a few hours they would be fighting yet again. Well, Lathai and his men would be, and Yuke would probably be wondering if his brother was actually over there in the dark kingdom. Such a dark cold place, he really hoped that Ny had gotten away from that place..but knowing that no one could find him said other wise.

The heavy clash of thousands of hooves against the hard ground pounded through Nylian, the rhythmic beat thrumming past his sensitive ears, setting his nerves on end. He kept his unease and reluctance buried deep within, though, knowing Yume’s minions watched him too closely for him to dare a second of hesitation. Even if Yume weren’t right beside him, her dark entities surrounding him, Nylian had to be careful what he let rule over him, his steed rather spirited and apt to feed off his emotions. He couldn’t complain, however, Nylian rather fond of his mount, the rather high stepping beast standing out in a crowd, even one of thousands. Where the other steeds were almost all shadowy black or almost as dark, Thintrí was smoky white; his tail, mane and legs around his hooves dark grey. His mane and tail were longer, misty tendrils wafting from the constantly shifting ghostly strands of hair, granting Thintrí more of a wraith-like appearance than his darker counterparts. Then again, Thintrí actually was an unusual Caibhse, or ghost horse, for beast usually ranged from a rich mahogany to obsidian, paler breeds almost unheard of, and yet… Thintrí somehow fit Nylian. Neither quite fit in, yet both forever lost in a world far darker than their suffocating souls.
He turned away from such morbid thoughts just as Yume’s dark army came to a sudden and jarring stop. Slowly lifting his head, Nylian gaze out across the battlefield, studying the enemy, their armor glistening a brilliant silver in the bright sunlight, the warriors standing at attention, their weapons at their sides, their expressions cut from stone. A shuddering breath whispered through him, flashes of that night so long ago rising up unbidden, men fighting to protect the castle, struggling to survive, the dead lying at their feet, blood staining the marble floors. Nylian slammed his eyes closed and fought for stable ground, wrestling those haunting images back down, slamming the door on them. Then he felt it, that tug on his heart, that constant pull on his soul grew stronger, Yuke somewhere close by, his twin on the battle front.
Caught completely off guard, Nylian once more lifted his head, his golden gaze sweeping over the enemy forces, a soft whisper escaping him, “No…”
Lathai left Yuke once he felt certain his nephew was situated and closely guarded, the men who protected the young prince elite soldiers. Still, he hated leaving the youth behind, in truth not pleased that his nephew sat so close to where the battle would wage. However, Yuke needed the experience, the exposure, especially being no one could see an end to this war. One day Yuke would be king, his duty to lead the battle, to ensure the safety of his kingdom, his people. If he went onto the battlefield green they’d likely lose yet another member of the royal family. Lathai could not and would not take that chance, so he ignored his desire to forever protect and shelter his youngest nephew and did what must be done. For the time being, Yuke sitatuated and well looked after, that was turning his thoughts to the impending battle and ensuring most of his men, if not all, walked away from this rather than being carried. Heading for the front line, his personal guard to his sides and behind him, Lathai’s expression grew hard, an eerie smile tugging at his lips.

Yume, even though the thundering sound of hundreds of hooves pounding into the ground normally bothered her, she seemed as peace. As if for once she found that rhythmic sound peaceful instead of loud and a bit annoying at times. The woman was simply in a good mood that day, but she soon grew slightly annoyed by what was waiting for them. This time they were ready, but Yume didn't let this bother at all. After all, there was certain things that made the two armies very different; the light kingdom's arms had morals, a conscious, but her own arm lacked morals. They only seeked the fear of other beings, the pain and the taste of victory. So, like many other times she doubted that there would be any issues, especially with Nylian by there side.
Her pale green eyes opened upon hearing a soft no from the teenage boy. Cocking her head to the side she looked over at him, wondering what caused him to say that. Yume thought for a moment, she recalled Nylain often claiming that Yuke was alive that he could feel his brother there. She set her jaw and scowled, Lithai must have brought the younger prince out to play, or stay behind in the back yet again. None the less, this was something, well someone she had to get rid of. Her hands tightened around the reins of her own Caibhse and kept her breathing steady.
"..Do you not let your nerves get to you now,Nylian. A clear mind will be and always will be your ally in battles." Yume said to him. She shifted in her saddle to where she would be facing the others a bit,"...ready when you are, don't be merciful to any of them."She said with a small smrik.
~~~Yuke~~~
Yuke sat straightly in his saddle,the young prince was surprisingly quiet since he was thinking about what Lathai had told him. He was always, dare he admit, afraid of what could happen to his uncle. There was that one day he told Yuke that he did fear that one day,that there would be one of his last battles..if that was today what would happen. Such thoughts made Yuke cringe, he didn't want to loss the person that had saved his life and raised him. Once again his hand went to his side, maybe if Yume had an actual mind she wouldn't dare try to kill him, or last her warriors wouldn't.
He looked at the guards surrounding him, with a heavy sigh he thought,'Might as well keep at the castle'Yuke understood Uncle Lathai's reasons of being so protective, but to be honest at times it was a little over bearing but he wouldn't dare say that to anyone. With another sigh he felt this tug in his chest,something was tugging at his heart and soul,urging him to break through the guards and follow the pull. He shut his eyes for a moment, hand over his chest when he realized this feeling.
"..Nylian."Yuke said softly, opening his eyes.
"..Nylian."Yuke said softly, opening his eyes.
Nylian tensed, never intending to speak out loud, much less alert Yume to what he’d sensed. Sliding a sideways glanced at her, his gaze lowered so that his thick lashes veiled his golden eyes, he nodded slightly and turned his attention back to the battlegrounds. What he hid was the turmoil boiling up deep within, uncertainty gnawing at his nerve, hope warring against fear. Yuke, his brother, his twin stood somewhere on the other side…among the enemy. Knowing that, could he do his part? Could he attack these men and risk hurting his brother…or worse yet, cause his twin’s death? No, and at the same time, Nylian knew what awaited him if he failed to do as Yume wished. Fully healed or not, he hadn’t forgotten the lesson learned with the last beating he received at the hands of the dark entities. There had to be a way, though, someone he could spare his twin and himself.
A soft murmur among the troops drew him from his thoughts, Nylian looking over to see a sight that floored even him. There, caught unawares on the battle grounds, trapped between the warring armies was an Earrachdadh, or an Eara…a spring bringer. Two feet tall, the little imp like creature stared about it with those large yellow eyes, the white rose like appendage atop the tiny beast’s head shivering and trembling visibly. A second later, all traces of a docile, adorable beast vanished, the Eara opening its mouth to reveal rows of razor sharp teeth. Hissing viciously, the spring imp bolted between them, darting for safety, all the while looking from one side to the other, warning both armies to keep their distance or risk losing a limb. Likewise, the soldiers on both sides of the field watched the Eara in stunned silence. Even when the spring bringer disappeared in the distance, the warriors leaned forward on their mounts, staring after it in amused disbelief, their steeds watching in just as much dumbfounded shock.
He felt the tension begin to rise, the unease rippling between the two armies growing strong enough to choke a man, the lust for blood building with each passing second. And then…all eyes were captured by a sight no one expected, even Lathai staring speechlessly after the Earrachdadh. Shocked the rather aggressive creature was caught so off guard. Watching as the deceptively small beast raced for safety, he just shook his head, recalling the one who’d followed Yuke through the castle like a loyal shadow for a little over a month. Exactly where Yuke found the Eara, Nylian had no idea, but he somehow wasn’t surprised when his nephew declared the carnivorous imp a pet, insisting he was going to keep the thing forever. That lasted for six weeks when Lathai finally put his foot down, one of the castle guards losing three fingers to the Eara’s nasty bite. Arching an elegant brow, he glanced back in his nephew’s general direction, wondering what that boy was thinking sometimes…if he ever thought things through where animals were concerned. Turning back to his men, he ordered his men to take up their weapons and prepare for battle, the spring bringer forgotten.
Yume's attention was soon drawn to the soft sound of the pit -pat of a smaller creature. Her blind gaze went to Earrachdadh,her head tiling to the side when an Enitity said what it was. She wondered what the tiny creature would being doing out here, or if it had realized what was about to happen. She received her answer when she heard the spring imp hissing and running, it was almost too adorable for words. A small smile tugged at her lips, clearly amused by the small creature and it's foolishness. Yume had heard about these Earrachdadh, the Eara weren't as innocent as they seemed and this one made it obvious. Well, the Eara was most certainly funny.
"My my, what a little show." Yume mused after the Eara had vanished in the distance. The blind woman took a deep brethe,"Now, the waiting has come to an end. Prepare your selves and go. Do not allow the enemy a chance to breathe. Cut them down!" Yume exclaimed firmly before turning to face Nylain.
"When you're ready Prince, but remember, there is no time to waste..so maybe when the two armies collide you should stun them?"She suggested softly.
~~~~~~~~Yuke~~~~~~~
As ran creature across the field anyone around Yuke could see how hard the young prince was laughing. Whether it was due to memory or how everyone reacted no one could really be sure. All anyone would know for sure that Yuke laughed well it ran across the field to safety, once the Eara had vanished he sat up.He saw his uncle looking at him and gave him a sheepish smile.

Nylian watched in silence as Yume’s army of bodies possessed by dark entities surged forward with a deafening war cry. Their blood lust almost palpable, he longed to turn away, to spare himself the sight of their ruthless savagery. He couldn’t, though, not knowing his brother was out there somewhere, joining this battle, but why? Yume swore to him Yuke died long ago, trying to use the loss of his brother to feed his need for vengeance. No, Nylian never believed her, although this…this he never expected. Why? Why would his twin stand beside those who killed their parents? Why would Yuke fight for the enemy who stormed their castle and destroyed their lives? He didn’t understand, his confusion only serving to undermine his focus, his concentration wavering, his longing to see his brother mounting. Then came that command, Nylian looking back at his self-appointed guardian before urging Thintrí, questioning all the while whether he could actually do this or not, knowing he could never harm his beloved brother.
As much as Nylian did not wish to do as ordered, he began gathering the power within him, his golden eyes glowing as the magic surged through his veins. When he felt ready he lifted his hands, his head tilting back, his eerie gaze locked on a point above the warring armies. A second later, a blinding flash ripped through the sky overhead, surging, pulsing, gone in the blink of an eye. However, in that brief time, countless men who stood as his enemy fell unconscious to the ground, others staggering off balance, their sight gone. Yume’s dark entities did not hesitate to take that opening, the twisted creatures launching at defenseless men and women, ending their lives in the most brutal way possible. However, as devastating as the effects were, as much of an advantage as Nylian gave Yume’s army, he’d held back, not using anywhere near the power he could, sparing not only his twin, but the vast majority of the enemy soldiers. He didn’t care, his only thought to make sure no one and nothing hurt his baby brother, the consequences be damned.
Lathai called the attack just as Yume’s twisted army surged forward, the enemy soldiers clashing almost dead center of the field. A deafening din rising up as swords clashed, voices rising up in cries of victory and wails of agony, marking the beginning of yet another bloody day. He himself raced for the enemy, his goal to somehow reach Yume, to cut her head from her body and bring an end to her insanity. What Lathai saw out of the corner of his eye caused him to hesitate, though, his pale gaze locking on the cloaked figure they’d all come to dread. Time and time again, Yume’s little ace in the hole crippled Lathai’s forces, tilting the odds against them. And yet, they’d all come to know what to expect, his soldiers learning to protect themselves from that blinding flash of light. Crying out in warning, Lathai did just that, lifting his shield, ducking his head, and slamming his eyes closed. Even so, the intensity of the brilliant flare was so bright he saw the veins in his eyelids, Lathai flinching and pressing his face against his arm, the sheer heat washing over him enough to cause him to break out in a sweat. The attack over a second later, he looked up to check on his men, the amount of soldiers who fell victim to the cruel attack infuriating him. Fortunately, far more survived without any harm, their vision intact, their determination strengthened. For that, Lathai was damned grateful, but he was done with seeing his men die to Yume’s blinding strategy.
He turned to the men closest to him, pointing at several, and motioning to Yume’s cloaked sorcerer. “I want him. Capture him alive and return him to the castle…broken and bleeding, unconscious, I don’t care. Just make sure he survives to see the inside of our dungeons,” he snapped, gathering several others. “With me! We take the blind witch out this day!”

Yume felt that heat,but she frowned. Something about today's attack seemed weak though it being fairly hot, but it didn't feel like the other times. As she thought about this she felt an entity tap her shoulder and whispered into her ear 'Nylian's attack was weak.'It had said. Her pale green gaze became icy when the entity had informed her of this and she had full intention to say something about this weak attack. However,Yume had heard Lathai,she rose her head slightly as if to look down at their uncle.It was like she was tempting him to come any closer, but at the same time her entity's were urging her to back off. To retreat.
The teenager shifted in his saddle, oh he hoped that this would end sooner than it had began. Once again he looked at all the guards surrounding him, front,left right and back covered. He let out a long sigh when that flash of light came. Yuke ducked his head, covering his eyes for a few seconds as the warm breeze ruffled his hair.'..what was that?'He thought, lifting his head up. He had to blink quite a few times before he could see things clearly again."..Wait..Uncle Nylian!"Yuke exclaimed, without hesitation he made sure his sword was on him and slid off of his horse with ease.Where that flash came from was the last place he spotted Lathai,'Oh he can't die, Not today..'He thought, breaking past the guards and thanking the creator for being tall as he ran out onto the battle field.

He heard the order from the enemy general, aware he was the sorcerer the man wanted captured alive, but not necessarily well. That alone should have had Nylian retreating to Yume’s side or cloaking himself vision, but he did neither, swearing he knew that voice. His elegant brow furrowing, he buried his lithe fingers in his silvery white hair, tugging at the silken strands. It couldn’t be…could it? Yume swore to him his entire family died in the attack on his home so long ago, that no one but he survived. True, he’d always know Yuke still lived, sensing his brother on the other end of the bond that tied them together. Still, Nylian never questioned Yume’s assurances that his parents and uncle died, having seen his father’s lifeless body, witnessing his mother’s death with his own eyes. Only now, if he didn’t know any better, he swore the man he heard shouting orders was his Uncle Lathai. No, no, that couldn’t be. It couldn’t! These people, the one’s Yume’s dark entities fought, they stormed the castle, killed his parents, conquered their kingdom. Uncle Lathai would never stand at their side, never!
His thoughts racing wildly, his mind in utter chaos, he didn’t see the men racing toward him, he didn’t realize how close they were. Without warning, someone tackled him, throwing him from Thintrí’s back and sending him crashing into the hard ground near his mount’s hooves. Instinct took over then, Nylian scrambling to escape, using the heavy folds of his cloak try and slip away. Just when he thought he might, a hand clamped down on his shoulder, dragging him back. Spinning around, Nylian caught a glimpse of a soldier’s fierce expression, the man’s meaty fist slamming into his jaw, his head snapping to the side, his mouth filling with blood even as his golden eyes slid closed.
Lathai led the directed attack on Yume, a smile washing over his elegant features as he and his men roared toward her. Already her dark entities surged to guard her, throwing themselves at he and his soldiers, intent on ripping their lives from them. He didn’t care, Lathai cutting down each and every one, refusing to slow down, to lose this chance to avenge his sister and brother-in-law. Did he focus on vengeance, no, his mind on the battle at hand, but he couldn’t deny he all but tasted victory. Perhaps a good thing he remained unaware of what occurred behind him. However, he saw the sorcerer go down, catching a flash of silvery white hair and golden brown skin. Nylian? No! Distracted for the briefest second, Lathai’s attention was brought back to the battle he fought when he felt the wicked bite of a razor sharp blade sinking into his side. Growling ominously, he slammed the back of his shield into the possessed being’s face, crushing its nose, his sword buried in its black heart before the thing could recover.
“YUME!”
The guards protecting their liege shielded their eyes as best they could, grateful they were no closer to the blinding flash. Nevertheless, they found themselves blinking rapidly in an attempt to clear their vision, unaware their prince dismounted and rushed toward the battle. However, a dark entity who sank deep into his enemies ranks caught sight of the young king to be. Grinning with cruel intent, he pounced the soldier in front of him, the man hitting the ground at the prince’s feet, crying out when the dark entity began ripping him apart, blood curdling screams tearing past his bloodied lips. Sinister laughter erupting from the dark entity, he turned his sights on the prince, boldly stalking his way.

Yume let out a growl as the enemy soldiers taking her defenses down, she had to get out of this mess or die at his hands. Knowing this,Yume didn't want to leave Nylian behind, more like she couldn't bare the very thought of leaving the prince behind. Although, when she had tried to get over to him a dark entity's showed what had happened she knew it was time to retreat. Her hands gripped at the reins of her horse, the images of the soldiers getting a hold of Nylian, and punching his in the jaw only made something stir inside of her. The desire to kill, to make them pay for what they took.
With a loud snap of the reins she turned around,her ghost horse now taking her away from the fray. The woman looked over her shoulder at where she had Lathai yell her name. Those green eyes narrowed as she scowled at him,"..I swear Lathai, I will kill you and the one boy have been protecting for so long. Mark my words, you will pay for this!"She snapped back before disappearing in a thicket of high bushes and trees.
~~~~Yuke~~~~~~~
Yuke stopped when he saw one of the soldiers fall at his feet, the prince wished to help him but that never happened. Instead he found himself backing up very quickly his hand over his mouth,trying to keep his breakfast. His eyes changed from an intense red to a pale pink, terror began to shine through like a beacon. Yuke's eyes widened when the entity's turned it's sights onto him, he quickly back-paddled only to trip over a fallen solider and letting out a scream the closer it got.
His heart raced when one of the guards pulled the prince back, and got him back on his feet. The other solider that had caught up with the prince kept the entity occupied. Without hesitation she slammed the flat side of her sword into the back of the dark entity's leg. Once he had fallen to it's knees she rose her sword above it and ran it through it's back,piercing the beings blackened heart. The dark entity was dead, calmly she slid the blade out and walked over to the other soldiers that guarded the prince."We head back to the castle now, we do not need a close call like that again!"The female solider ordered.
The prince didn't really like being pushed around, nor did he like what he just saw. He trembled heavily as he climbed back onto his horse and they rode off to the castle. What that thing did to that person..was mange to chill Yuke to the bone. The more he thought about it he started to feel sick again.
Back at the Castle~
Yuke sat in his room,there were guards standing outside of his room. Of all the things he had done everyone made it very apparent that this was the worst by far. For him to run out of the field like that was reckless and defiantly the dumbest thing he could ever do. A shudder passed through the prince as he flopped down on his bed, the images of what had happened an hour ago flashed through his mind. His stomach flipped."..what was I thinking.."He asked himself, burying his head in his pillow.
Lathai stalked through the castle with an ominous scowl that sent anyone he came across scampering out of his path. Not that he noted any of them, his thoughts on his nephew, on the one foolish enough to disobey him and race onto the battlefield and into the path of a dark entity. On top of that, he just spent near an hour arguing and fighting with the council, Lathai actually seething by the time he left the meeting with them. Ironically enough, between their success on the battlefield, Yume’s defeat, and the fact Nylian was home after so long, he should have been in a good mood, a great mood. Instead, he swore he still stood out on the field, facing off with his enemy, ready to kill anything that so much as dared to move a finger. Apparently, it showed, too, because the guards standing before Yuke’s door all but dove out of Lathai’s way as he stormed close. Again, he ignored them, flinging the door open so hard it slammed into the wall with a resounding thud, the doorknob lodged against the stone wall.
“What in the Abyss were you thinking?” he snapped without hesitation, his voice soft, but the anger carried in every word explosive.
Yuke jumped when the door slammed open,hitting the wall and echoing through his room. With a thud he hit the floor, the boy winced when he pushed himself up on a fore arm. He swallowed loudly when he looked up and over at his Uncle. A shiver passed through his body, now Yuke was in trouble. Slowly he sat up visibly trembling, he bit his lower lip. What could he say, how could he explain himself without angering him even further. He ducked his head, hiding the pale shade of pink his eyes had been for the past hour.
"..I-I thought that you were dead, or going to be killed! I thought that my brother was out there getting slaughtered b-by..."He stopped himself with a shudder. "..I c-couldn't stand by and not do anything, that's not how you raised my,Uncle Lathai!"
Any other time, Lathai would’ve found Yuke’s response to his sudden and unexpected entrance rather hilarious, but not then, not after the stunt his youngest nephew pulled. At the same time, he knew he wasn’t being fair, his infamously foul mood just as much because of Yume’s escape and the council’s stubbornness. Yuke just had the misfortune of being the most convenient venting point at the moment. Well, that and Lathai really was spitting mad after hearing what happened and how close he came to losing Yuke. Taking an ominous step toward his nephew, growling darkly, Lathai spun on his heel and paced away from the youth, turning back around to glare at the terrified teenager.
“Don’t give me that, Yuke! I know what happened out there, I know you came face to face with one of her damned entities! I told you! I warned you! You aren’t ready for what you’d face on that battlefield, not against her!” he hissed, his hands curled in white-knuckled fists. The deep pain his sharp, stiff movements caused him, Lathai paid no mind to, his only thought that he could be cradling his nephew’s cold, dead body in his arms rather than lecturing him if the guard hadn’t moved fast enough. “And I raised you to be obedient! To at least have the common damned sense to know when to listen to me!”
Yuke hopped to his feet, he knew how angry his uncle was but he could still speak. Yes, he might stutter and his voice might tremble but he would still speak. With a deep breathe he looked at Lathai despite that icy glare that his uncle gave him. His pink eyes seemed to grow more intense when he saw how bloody he's uncles' shirt was, those entity's had hit him. They harmed Lathai..the boy's eyes started to change again,now they were becoming a darker sapphire color. How dare they do that to him. And how dare Lathai say he raised him to be obedient, a word that wasn't in his vocabulary.
"That was Nylian, I was and never will be obedient and you know that Uncle!"Yuke retorted.
"That was Nylian, I was and never will be obedient and you know that Uncle!"Yuke retorted.
Lathai noted the shift in Yuke’s eye color, well aware his nephew realized he was injured in battle. Hind sight being what it was, he should’ve perhaps stopped by his rooms long enough to clean up a bit and change. He hadn’t even allowed anyone to tend the troublesome wound in his side beyond a field dressing, but everything happened so quickly, Yuke racing onto the battlefield, Nylian in the dungeon, and the council…what they wanted, Lathai wouldn’t stand for if he had to ship his oldest nephew to his brother’s kingdom. But then Yuke hit the nail right on the head, Lathai visibly deflating, his anger bleeding out of him, his brow furrowing as he lowered his gaze.
“About Nylian…” he whispered, shaking his head and sighing, meeting Yuke’s gaze a moment later. “He’s in the dungeon, but…! Before you go off halfcocked, you need to hear me out.”
The blue fire in Yuke's eyes dyed down when he saw his uncle calm down so quickly. Was it what he said that made him calm down, he didn't mean to do that to his Uncle,but it was true. Nylain had always been the one to listen to what others said, Yuke on the other hand always had a different idea.
His eyes started to change again as they widened in shock. His brother, the brother he hadn't seen in so long was here in the dungeon. As much as it relieved him to know his brother was close and to now have it confirmed that the tug on his soul was indeed their twin bond. However, hearing that Nylain was in the dungeon was what made it feel like someone had just run him through without hesitation.
Yuke took one step forward just as Lathai told him to stop. What else was there to talk about?!" W-Why my brother is down there!"Yuke said in protest.
-
Two baby bunnies whom had been resting until Lathai had so a rude and loud entrance was listening to all of this. The bunnies exchanged looks,they had heard of this Nylain person and now he was in the castle. The male bunny, upon hearing this news, quickly he hopped out of the room with his sisters quickly following. Next destination;the Dungeon.
Lathai quickly stepped in his nephew’s way, once again shaking his head. “Where he is should be enough to tell you why, Yuke. Stop and think about that one, about the fact he’s in the dungeon instead of up here, everyone hailing his return after so long,” he countered quickly. He didn’t intend to come across harsh, but he needed Yuke to understand just how serious the situation was, and how much worse brash actions could make everything. “You’ve heard how many we’ve lost to Yume’s sorcerer and that blinding flash of light he uses, and today you witnessed it for yourself. That was a weak attack, but we still lost quite a few men…and that’s the problem. Nylian…he did that. The council is furious and… I’ve tried talking to them, but right now…they wanted him interrogated and kept in the dungeon, their fear that Yume somehow turned Nylian against us, that she brainwashed him.”
His expression softening, Lathai gently cupped the back of his nephew’s head, pulling the youth closer. “I’m going to take you down to see him, but you have to swear to me you won’t do anything foolish. If you do, Yuke, you’ll undermine any ground I manage with the council while you visit with your brother. You do something stupid…like let him out and they’ll make sure he stays in the dungeon without the pleasure of your company for so much as a two minute visit. Do you understand?”
He woke to the sound of soft voices nearby, Nylian opening his eyes only enough to peer through his lashes, gazing about him in confusion. Soon enough, he realized where they’d put him, the cell door, the damp stone walls, the unbearable stench everything one would expect of a dungeon. What did this mean? Were his brother and uncle traitors? Did they now work with their enemy? Or was there some crucial piece to this picture he could not yet see? Unsure of the situation and himself, Nylian tapped into the power running through his veins, bending the light all around him, cloaking himself from those around him. Carefully sitting up, he gained his feet and backed into the far corner, taking extreme caution in every step he took, controlling his breathing. Invisible or not, noise easily revealed his location, that the last thing he wanted, particularly if the plan forming in his mind was to work. His hope that the guards would believe he escaped, open the cell to search for a secret door or hidden tunnel, he situated himself so that he was out of the way, freeing him to slip out of his cage should things go as he planned. There Nylian waited, revealing just how patient a young man he truly was, how much control he often exerted over himself.
Glancing back, the guard’s eyes growing wide, the man spun around to stare about the cell in disbelief. His mind reeled in denial, knowing the prince laid unconscious on the cot just a moment before, but now…the teenager was nowhere to be seen! “He’s gone!” he whispered hoarsely to his partner, shooting the man a look that spoke of confusion and outright fear. Prince Lathai would have their heads if Prince Nylian escaped! “The prince…he’s gone!”
