Jerry eventually finishes his song, then attempts a spin. His foot gets caught on the chair he stood on, sending him sprawling to the floor. The moment after he eats floor, he stands right back up and take a bit of an awkward bow. "That was a particularly meaningful piece to me, making me think of home, family, and--" He suddenly stops short, dropping his smile for a split second, only to pick it up again. "So yeah! That's what I would call My Song!" He twirls the flute in his fingers and tucks it under his arm.
Novalyyn started clapping, until he crashed to the ground again. She half stood, but he was already popping back up to his feet, prompting a small smile as she shook her head and stood the rest of the way up.
"Very well done! You really should be more careful, though, Jerry." The elf put her hands on her hips, and opted not to say anything about "home" and "family" and other such things. "So then, what would you like to eat? And anything to drink with it?"

Jerry thinks for about a split second. "You got any burgers here? Without pickles, though, I don't like Pickles. Can I have a sweet tea with that?" He plops back down in his seat. "Woo! That was all I needed, another pratfall. I'll try not to break anything else tonight." He whipped out his flute once more and wiped off the mouthpiece with his denim vest. "Oh yeah, you never really told me what kind of place this is. So what kind of place is this?"
"Appreciated," Novalyyn said with a smirk. "As I said before, this is merely an inn and tavern. Think of it like a hotel with a restaurant attached. And yes, we do burgers and tea. Anything special besides no pickles? Cheese preference, mushrooms, bacon...? There's a pineapple teriyaki burger that many find surprisingly tasty."
"Oh! That sounds yummy! I'll try anything once." Jerry took his seat once more and looked at his host again. "So, you been working here long? I ran a diner once, but I was... NOT good at it at all." Jerry stopped and thought for a moment. "Come to think of it, I'm good at very few things."
"Pineapple teriyaki burger it is!" she said with a smile. "Yes, it's been awhile since I opened this place up. I always enjoy meeting the new people who come through, though. And you're definitely good on your flute, even if you can't think of much else right now."
The woman gave a little wink, then clapped her hands together and gave a slight bow. "If you'll excuse me, I'll go get your order started."

"I'll be here." He lifts his flute to his lips again and begins tinkering with notes here and there, feeling his way around some new song.
It wasn't long before Novalyyn returned, a plate with a burger and fries in one hand and a glass of sweet tea in the other. She set both before the young man, a smile on her face.
"Here you are! Can I get you anything else?"
"Here you are! Can I get you anything else?"
"Nope! Perfect!" He grabs his burger and takes a generous bite. "Hmm, pineapple." He chewed a little longer to figure out just how he felt about it. "It's different, I can tell you that. My taste buds don't know what to do with this."
While the young man enjoyed his seared cow, another patron slipped in through the door. Barely three feet and change, she made hardly a sound as she entered, nervously darting her head back and forth while shutting the door behind her. The young, black-eyed girl didn't stay out in the open for long, though; her two little legs carried her behind a nearby table, more curious about the empty spaces underneath than taking a seat herself.
For the most part, she seemed to be ignored, despite her odd behavior. Having weaved between the chairs without bumping them an inch, the dark-skinned child was now investigating something on the floor. Preoccupied for the moment, she wouldn't notice anyone approaching, unless they forced her attention.

"Well, I hope it's more positive than negative," Novalyyn said with a slight bow.
Meanwhile, the little mottled purple pixie that had looked like a doll on the shelf this whole time dropped down and flitted over to where the little girl investigated the floor. It settled down crosslegged on a nearby chair, watching the girl a moment before finally, cheerfully, saying, "Hi there!"

The effect was immediate; the girl's head whipped up from her revere, slamming into the bottom of the table with enough force to jostle it. Dazed and confused, she stumbled back onto her bottom, dizzily trying to focus on one of the three purplish blobs in front of her. It wouldn't help her much to know that half of every eye was now focused upon the jumping table.
With her head clearing a little, Shimi could now focus (a little) on the more immediate issue. Blinking, she eyed the creature before her, cocking her head a little in curiosity. Despite that, she remained cautious of the short-statured sprite, finally replying simply, her tone too coarse for such a young creature. "H-hello. You are...?"

Finally noticing the little girl o the floor, Jerry looked away from his "seared cow" and gave the new guest a look. "Hello there," he said with a smile. "Who do we have here? The name's Jerry, what's yours?"
"I'm Jzin!" the little pixie cheerfully replied. When Jerry seemed to speak in their direction though, Jzin turned its solid-black eyes to the man. It smiled, happy as could be, and waved - even though he seemed to be looking more at the small girl.
Satisfied for the moment, Novalyyn returned to the bar to wipe down the counter until she was needed again. As she worked, she hummed softly to herself.

Jerry then took a look at the pixie floating around. At first he made no discernible reaction, save for a blink.
"Uhhhh, what am I looking at here? Are you a fairy? 'Cause you look like a fairy. Not-no-not in the derogatory sense, but the sense that you have wings and... and you fly and... Hello!"

"Jee-shin?" she tried to repeat back, rubbing the new bump on the back of her head which was rapidly swelling. It was likely obvious that the little demon spawn was not the most articulate creature, with her difficulty speaking even basic words. She leaned in closer, sniffing at the newest... thing while another droned on nearby. Finally satisfied that her eyes weren't playing tricks on her, she nodded and replied "Am Shimi."
Returning her attention to the floor for a bit longer, Shimi finally grew bored of it and turned back to the purple pixie, her head again tilting to one side as she observed the anomaly. "Where... this is?" she hesitantly questioned, unsure quite what to make of her situation. Through the chairs she could see the lower part of another at the bar, but for now her concern was closer at hand.

The little androgynous pixie screwed up its face in thought, but quickly nodded to the man. It looked back to the child then with a giggle.
"Jzin," it repeated. "Zzzhhhin. Or you can just say Shin if that's easier."
It wasn't really all that picky.
"The is the Shootin' Star. Momma over there runs it." Jzin lifted an arm to point at the elf woman at the bar. "You okay? You hit yer head pretty hard. I can getcha somethin' if ya want."

"Momma?" Jerry looked over to the elf, then back at the pixie. "Wait, so baby elves are fairies? Is that a thing? I didn't know that was a thing." He leaned over his food with his hands on his head. "Magical creatures are confusing."
The little spiderling rubbed her skull where the bump had formed and nodded. "Am fine. Have... thick head." Despite the thing's 'explanation', it still did not really tell Shimi much about where she was, so she didn't press the issue any further; perhaps it didn't know itself, though its description made it seem like it was here along with the owner, despite their completely different appearances.
It seemed the elven woman was the one to ask, but Shimi was still feeling wary about leaving her spot. The amount of light in the room wasn't helping her decision either, but there wasn't much she could do for that. So for the moment she remained under the table, nursing the lump on her head, watching and listening to the others there.
** sorry, the girl is just naturally anti-social. I'll give her a nudge if someone doesn't next post **

Novalyyn chuckled when she caught the young man's question and called over from the counter, "Jzin is my familiar - my helper. It is not really my child, it simply prefers to call me that."
It was the truth, depending on how one looked at it, but the title the creature gave to the woman wasn't really inaccurate either. It was just one of those things best left unexplained, lest hours be spent explaining everything to someone whom it likely would never make sense to anyway.
"'Kay," Jzin said to the girl, and wiggled its feet cheerfully. "Ya' hungry or anything? We've got lotsa tasty food 'n stuff."
