As she looked out on the water from the bridge, gazing upon the sun-glittered glass-like surface, Oriana sighed. Glancing over at Y/C, she spoke quietly, "How did we get to this point? The world is folding in on itself, and here we are. Where we first met, waiting to turn to ash like everyone else."
Basically our characters are waiting for the end of the world to finally show up, they're on an abandoned bridge, reliving memories leading up to this moment. There's a bridge around where I live and it inspired this idea.
