Howdy!

A few weeks ago I retired (this word makes me feel way older than I am) early from a wild career and turned one of my hobbies into a business. It's been dope, because now I have time for creative pursuits that I abandoned. Like writing, making art, and doomscrolling pinterest.

By my estimation I haven't actually RPed for almost 7 years. I don't even know if I can still write, man. So instead of making any promises around quality or interest (aside from romance and tragedy, I'm always a sucker for the feels), I'll simply say that I come to you heavily caffeinated and ready for some juicy plots.

I split my time between two countries and one timezone. As for hobbies/interests, someone told me the world was my oyster and I took that to heart. Now I can't stop collecting hobbies and subsequently junk in my garage.

So here's my request. Instead of just saying hello, gimme like, a hello and tell me a bit about a thing you're super into and love to talk about. Space, Barbies, your pet.
Hello! There, that's the obligatory hello.

As for a paragraph on something I'm into, that would be music and radio, and old radio stations and music venues, etc.. An example is encapsulated by my DJ character Marionne Seymour which I will use to greet you with. I guess you could say a 'vibe-check' is like an air-check'.

Music I'm into is most 20th century music, from early blues, jazz, big band/swing, early rock n roll, folk rock, surfer rock, psychedelic rock, hard rock, punk rock, alternative rock, dark metal, pagan folk.... and yes, classical. My favorite radio program is Subterrania hosted by 'Judy Jetson' on 4ZZZ 102.1 FM in Brisbane, and my character Marionne often uses the playlist from that show in her roleplaying.

So yeah. That is probably the most I said about myself here ever, including my own intro thread. :)
Hello, hi, welcome! 10/10 vibes, you pass the check.
As per instruction I will now give you a little ramble about sea otters. They aren't quite my favourite animal, because I'm too indecisive to have one of those, but I do love them and I also love collecting random trivia about animals (and other things) and for some reason sea otters are the first to come to mind usually. They're pretty adorable, anyway. One thing quite a few people know already, which I will share just in case, is how they hold hands while sleeping, to avoid drifting apart. One attaches themself to a kelp bed by wrapping a bit of the plant around their body, and the rest grab onto the little paws of the buddy next to them. Also, another sort-of-maybe-well-known fact, they're smart enough to use tools, like smashing open shellfish with rocks. They also have the densest fur of any mammal (sometimes one million hairs per square inch), and kidneys powerful enough to let them safely drink saltwater. They can also hold their breath underwater for over five minutes, which is helpful since most of their food lives on the seafloor. Because of all their neat superpowers, they can live their entire lives without leaving the water. Oh, and a group of them is called a raft, and the scientific name for them is lutra, which I always thought sounds pretty.
Oooookay thank you for coming to my tedtalk :> I hope you enjoy your time on this site! Happy writing!!

Hot dawg. This is amazing and your varied tastes are appreciated and SHARED. Psychedelic rock and math rock have been showing up in my playlists a lot lately. I'm glad you said so much about yourself because this is exciting and I've always wanted to write a DJ character or give foley/mixing a go. My DJ name would be "DJ Shakewell" because I can shake it... pretty well.

Cool! Make yourself a character or ten and have fun with this place!

Marionne is a 'DJ' in the old sense of the term. The modern term for her profession would be 'radio presenter' or something like that. 'DJ's nowadays are more live venue music artists with the turntables and such. Many a radio studio these days don't even have a turntable or even a CD player as all the music is computer files. Sad.

Thank you for the welcome and these 11/10 otter facts! You could keep these coming if you wanted I'd definitely be into them. Otters and especially Harbour seals are UP THERE in the hierarchy of things that make me squeal like a prepubescent girl. There's a marine mammal rescue in Vancouver that rehabilitates both and is so so incredible. Link for good things in the marine mammal world.
Hey! What a fun way to introduce yourself!
I hope you find fun stories to work with soon!

I personally enjoy almost all settings for stories, but I need to make the characters just a bit funny or nitpicky to keep interested in it ☺️!

Right now I'm working on a fledging a world to put characters in and invite people to RP in it, but it's a lot of work and I'm not sure I'm super good at it 😂 so it will be a mystery what becomes of it.

Response to Request: My interests change with my mood. However, one thing I have consistently stayed interested in is science. I follow several science news podcasts and channels. I recently saw a video stating that the James Webb Space Telescope has discovered about 750 galaxies outside of our universe.

Then there was an article that talked about how the JWST discovered a supermassive black hole that formed around only 570 million years after the big bang, which is actually a big discovery! Scientists are discovering all sorts of things that are redefining what we thought we once knew about our universe, and it is truly amazing how quickly science is progressing with each passing year.
Oh, this is a fun way to do an introduction thread! Hello, and welcome to RPR!

I’m a history buff myself, so I’ll share one of my all-time favorite history facts. After the famous duel in which Aaron Burr killed Alexander Hamilton, Burr was kind of screwed. Duels (and subsequent duel-related murder) was kind of illegal at the time, and lots of people were pretty mad that Burr had just killed the former Secretary of the Treasury. Burr basically became a fugitive, and went West…and was never heard from again, right?

Wrong.

A little while later, then-President Thomas Jefferson got some interesting news: Burr had been arrested (in the South, if I remember correctly. I’m writing this all by memory lol). Not for his duel, or for any other murders, but for trying to steal the Louisiana Purchase and crown himself Emperor of Mexico.

Wait, what?

Reread that bold line. Read it out loud if you have to. I couldn’t make this up if I tried: Aaron Burr tried to secede from the US of A.

Cut forward to his treason (!!!) trial. Jefferson took a personal interest in the case. Some people think it was out of some weird sense of justice for the Hamilton thing; I think it’s because Jefferson never liked Burr much anyways and also Bure Committed Treason. Anyway, Jefferson kind of tried to swing his weight around in this trial. Everyone knew who he was rooting for.

Burr, knowing that the evidence was really stacked against him (and also people were still mad at him for the Hamilton incident), went up to all the Jurors and basically said, “hey, I know you think I’m guilty, that’s fine, but just have an open mind and remember how law works.” The Jurors, despite the fact that they all were basically convinced of his guilt, heeded his advice, and Burr…actually was deemed innocent. Not because they thought he hadn’t tried to commit treason, but because the prosecution’s evidence itself didn’t prove Burr’s guilt. He was guilty, they all knew it, but the prosecution hadn’t been able to show that he was guilty according to their specific evidence.

Burr, realizing that maybe it wasn’t a great idea to stay in America, proceeded to move to Europe. While there, he kept a weirdly detailed diary of his love life, set himself on fire, and did not commit any more heinous crimes (that we know of!). He eventually moved back to America and began practicing law again.

The end.
Welcome to RPR
Welcome!
i didn't know you could doomscroll pintrest, but i suppose you can doomscroll any social media

like 3 years ago i started listening to the Revolutions podcast. and they examine like.. all the many different factors that contribute to the unfolding of a revolution, all the parties at play, how things fall in and out of place, etc. and it kind of rewired my brain? just in terms of how to view historical events and such.
so that's a thing lol

getting back into art and creative hobbies is hard after so many years, i had just forced myself to do so last year after like... 12 years? and man, it's been so awesome.. and especially with this community! i hope you find some amazing writing partners and get those plots in =)
Hello Vibe Checking Vandal! Welcome to RP Repository! :)

Right now I'm trying to enjoy the outdoors with my partner. We have been taking hikes whenever we have days off together. It has impacted my RP writing here, but I know there will be enough bad weather days to do all that.
OuhBjG0.gif

Salu-freakin'-tations! You are literally living the dream. I'd give anything to be able to pursue my interests and make them into a full-on business. I am so happy for you to have an opportunity like that. It's so few and far between, so it gives me hope. :)

As for writing, or rather, not sure if you can still write, it is still a pastime. It's there for you to enjoy whether we do it well or not or do it casually or go all out. Something that makes us happy is fundamental and I wouldn't want to take that from anyone. You're welcome here no matter your preferences or capabilities. RPR is a pretty chill community so I imagine that passes said vibe check. Hah hah...

As for talking about something I thoroughly enjoy, it's very difficult to do. I have two cats though! They're my everything and they mean more to me than other people. :O! My oldest is Kisa -- she's probably about 10, we think -- give or take -- because she's a Wal-mart parking lot kitty we rescued and she had her wee babbens which one survived that we kept as well and her name is Chocolate Chip. They are both ornery as heck.

My love of fandoms changes pretty consistently so talking about that is a cycle in and of itself! Hah hah... Take care, by the way and have lots of fun!
Hello and welcome to RPR!

I actually like many things and some of them also listed on my profile too. I also like aesthetic things as your icon looks~

Hi there,

I'm over 20 years old but under 30 (I don't want to say my age so "publicly") I haven't roleplayed in a few years and rejoined this site today, picking back up on my abandoned account.

I have a variety of interests including mythology, history, music, writing and reading. My hobbies include creative writing and I am hoping to make a career out of it.

I have a furbaby called Dougie, he's a Border Collie.

I'm very much into fandoms, something that I thought I would grow out of but just can't. Apart from Fandoms of certain bands/singers I like I am in the following Fandoms:

Supernatural
Game of Thrones
Twilight
Batman

And many more but I don't want to write a long list!

Oh, and my name's Victoria. Almost forgot to say that 🙈
