Okay, I’m thinking I’m going to be a little more specific. I have been plotting! *rubs hands together, cackles insanely*
Time – Post Apocalypse – In the year 2136, an unknown virus spread across the world like a wild fire, killing sixty-eight percent of the population. Seventeen percent of the infected population survived, but they changed, becoming something forever caught between human, animal, and mutation. Their skin turned to a dark shade of gray, their eyes enlarging, their teeth razor sharp and lethal, and their ears elongated and pointed. In the process of their changes, they lost most of their ability to reason, to function in human society. What was left of society anyway, civilization crumbling, the remaining fifteen percent of human beings, the survivors beginning a desperate struggle for survival.
The Clans - What remained of the world’s population quickly abandoned the cities, fearing to remain meant risking infection. Soon they began traveling in groups, establishing their own hierarchy of leadership, protecting their own, while fighting others for limited supplies. Some took to roaming, traveling from place to place, following game trails, and hording water holes. Others found safe havens they claimed as their homes, rebuilding what they could, farming, raising animals, and building up their defenses. A hundred and fifty years later, those surviving groups are now clans, some nomadic while others are stationary, but all of them accept life for what it is today.
Technology – In many ways, what was lost in the past is lost, most of the technological advancements made before the virus forever gone. Not all, though, guns, medical science, some of the arts, and some luxuries (such as electric heat) surviving the apocalypse. That being said, the nomadic clans have less access to technology, their concern weapons and anything that will increase their chances of survival against the odds. In other words, the nomadic clans have guns, some medical technology, but little else.
Magic – No one is quite sure how or why, but even humans who weren’t infected by the virus were changed. People began showing signs of holding what could only be described as magical abilities. Within a hundred years of the apocalypse, individuals with the ability to heal, create fire, and even control the elements…the very weather were rare, but not entirely unheard of. Unfortunately, many become hunted, those with clans protected at all costs, those who remain clanless hunted down relentlessly.
The Cities – When the survivors fled the cities, the mutants took over, claiming the ruins as their own. However, they don’t have an established society or government, rarely even living in groups of more than two or three. They are more like animals, scavengers, their biggest worry their next meal. Some are savage hunters, aggressive, and extremely territorial. Others, though, are more childlike, skittish, and honestly harmless. Either way, they rarely see humans because, even 150 years later, people fear the cities and the risk of infection, very few daring to venture anywhere near the ancient cities.
The New Generation – More and more children are being born with signs of mutation despite the fact no one has been infected with the virus in over a hundred years. In some cases, the mutations can be put down to exposure to an ancient city and the mutants who live there, but others have never been exposed to anything. Some begin to think these mutations are simply a matter of evolution, while others are terrified and determined to stamp out every trace of the virus and mutants.
My Character - Saro Baptiste is a Weather Mage...very rare, very sought after...and he's being hunted. There are a few problems...1) he was never trained, so he doesn't have full control over his abilities, 2) he isn't interested in being used by anyone, and 3) he's determined to find his own path. He just needs a friend, an ally to help him along the way, a brother-in-arms...or sister-in-arms.
Your Character - Entirely up to you.
I do apologize for the lacking of Saro's sheet. I will soon update it and have plenty of information on him, far more detail. You can look at some of my other characters to get an idea of what you can expect when I'm done with Saro's sheet.
What I'm looking for... Simply put - in-depth, intense RPing. I don't do one liners. That means I'm looking for someone who's posts are at least one solid paragraph. I don't write short posts, so I'm not asking anything of my RP partner that I'm not willing to do myself. I also want someone who can make this idea grow, help me turn this into something...spellbinding! *nods*

And for some reason, even before you really mentioned the children, I got the urge to play a child in this nasty little world. Now I'm torn about whether or not that child would be mutated.
