Pretty straightforward, this is an interest check to see if anyone would be interested in joining in on a play-by-forum version of D&D's iconic (old school) Tomb of Horrors dungeon, but in a more narrative, character-driven, less rules intensive format.
-I would strongly prefer players who have not played any version of the Tomb of Horrors. If you haven't heard of it, one, thank you for checking this out anyway, and two, feel free to ask me about it (or you can also look it up to get the gist. It's a death-trap puzzle dungeon)
-Most kinds of characters are welcome, not limited to fantasy adventurers. If you have concerns, feel free to ask before presenting a character, and I'll ask questions if I have concerns with a presented character.
-Emphasis is on character interaction and dealing with deadly situations rather than getting SUPER technical and tactical about things
-Expected posting rate will be a once a week minimum, though if everyone posts faster than that things can be sped up. If something comes up where someone will need to be absent, this is okay and we can talk about it. There are a couple climactic moments where I may try to get everyone to be on at once for a scene, but this is also negotiable and can be discussed later.
-Looking for 3-4 players
-General RP etiquette (not over-riding other players' actions, not creating OOC drama, being considerate toward players, characters, game-master, and story, etc.) applies.
Writing style will be multi-para to help encourage people to write detail and specific description into their actions. Occasional dice rolls will be used, mostly on my end to see how things react. The Tomb of Horrors actually low-key strongly favors solving problems with detailed RP rather than just checks anyway!
Content and theme notes/warnings:
-Violence, death, and serious injury in a WIDE variety of forms. Listing them would be spoilers and really long, so assume any and all methods of causing grievous harm could be and probably are present somewhere in the dungeon, other than as noted below.
-Puzzles, traps, and consequences which may or may not be completely logical. I'm going to try to make it a little more fair and logic-solvable than the original, there are some luck-based parts there which I'm not a big fan of, but it's still a tricky dungeon that might not always make perfect logical sense sometimes. If you don't like puzzles or aren't okay with having bad things happen if you fail to solve puzzles, this RP will not be for you. (If you like having a character who isn't great at puzzles and ends up having problems as a result, this might be really funny for you)
-There probably isn't a lot of room for romance or related content here. I mean, if you want to get freaky in a deathtrap dungeon I won't stop you, but please be considerate of other players and magical space birds if you do decide to do this.
-Indications of creatures being magically bound to service in various ways, though not explicitly slavery
-There is no sexual violence in the Tomb of Horrors, and none will be permitted.
-If you have any other themes or concerns you would like to be made aware of that I have not covered, please tell me so I can tell you and/or take it into consideration if it isn't explicitly mentioned but possible so that I can avoid it.
If you're interested, please tell me below with a character you would like to use! If I get enough interest I will start contacting people by DM to actually start setting this up. Currently any plot to bring people there will be an excuse plot (being called or set to explore it, it's actually a training simulation, etc.), but it can also be made into more if people want! ^v^
If you've made it this far, thank you very much for reading, and have a wonderful day or night!

Magic is common.
Renaissance
Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.
Romantic themes are possible, but won't pan out. For example: unrequited love.
Details: Occasional dice use, paragraphs required, long-term RP partner preferred. Will be played with a small group of players.
Hello, this look like an insteresting idea. Can I join?

Currently this is mostly just an interest check, but if enough other people respond with interest, yes! In the meantime, feel free to DM me with any questions you might have about the Tomb, the overall adventure and/or surrounding plans. ^v^
I've mentioned before that I'm interested ^^ Not sure who I'd bring to the table yet, might see what other characters may be there and pick someone who fits the vibe.

Hooray! Sounds good! ^v^ If you have a particular character in mind, lemme know, and if you have any questions about the adventure or surrounding details, feel free to DM me with those questions!
With three people interested the adventure is definitely runnable, but a party of four is ideal and five is very workable given the daaaanger.
I'll start getting in touch with people who have presented interest shortly. ^v^

Hi all, I’d like to try and join as player four. Pretty new to this, but I’m excited to play with you guys! Can’t go wrong with classic DnD, in forum game format or otherwise
