"No one wants me to work for them" she said. "Stealing things is one thing I'm good at"
"Why not? I'm sure there's gotta be a job for you somewhere. A legitimate one."
"I work better at night." she said. "And I'm still at school so I can't work during week days anyway."
"Maybe you should come to America…" he said quietly, "You can make a decent amount of money while working there… You're family is an issue though…"
"I would just need someone to give them to" she says. "What are foster parents in America like?"
He shrugged, "I dunno. I've never been in a foster home. For all I know, you could just stay with me and my family."
"I don't know if your family would want that" Holly said. She heard and saw rain starting to fall. "They don't even know me"
"They'd be fine with helping a friend, and at this point, I think it's safe to call you my friend."
"Well.. it's good to have a friend" Holly didn't really have any friends, she didn't seem to connect with even her half-siblings. The fact there was someone calling her a friend was good.
He smiled kindly at her, "It is," he agreed.
She smiled a little back at him, its been a while since she smiled. Holly went and sat down at the couch. "By the way when you are here try to stay away from all authorities as much as possible" she remembered that that was something he needed to know.
"Why?" he asked.
"Most of them are corrupt and can be very unpredictable" Holly said. She knew that from experience.
"Ah. Fair enough," he nodded.
Holly didn't feel it necessary to ask him if authorities acted like that in America. She glanced out at the rain pouring down. She preferred it when the weather was sunny. She remembered that this evening she would have to go out to meet someone. "So, what do people in America do when its rainy?"
"Talk?" he shrugged, "Go to the theater? I don't really know..."
"I guess we can talk" she said leaning forward. It was hard for her to decide what to talk about, she doesn't usually talk much. "Have you met any thieves?"
"Only you, officially," he shrugged.
"Oh" she said. "Me being one, am I what you expected a thief to be?". She didn't know why she was asking him these questions.
He shrugged, "I guess I know that some thieves only do it to survive. That's what you seem like. You're not a bad person at all."
