2150, fifty years after the fall of civilization to the zombie plague. In Russia, a city has lit up again. Bright against the bleak world. New Petersburg. Filled with lost technology such as the translating mouthpieces, and more modern lights and tech. The city is filled with people, all wearing clothes that were popular in the fifties. Even a new currency has appeared, using casino chips as currency, giving 100 for any new person in the city. But... Not everything is as perfect as it seems. Some strange happenings have been going on, people going missing, buildings being deserted for no reason, and people being forced to stay inside for up to a day. Can you find out the dark secrets of New Petersburg?
----
Lee stood at the gates, the only real entrance to New Petersburg. It hadn't snowed in a while. He wore a common suit, with a vest that was normally in a tuxedo, with a white undershirt with long sleeves underneath.

Lee stood at the gates, the only real entrance to New Petersburg. It hadn't snowed in a while. He wore a common suit, with a vest that was normally in a tuxedo, with a white undershirt with long sleeves underneath.
A young girl walked up the road to the famous New Petersburg, rumored to be the best city in all of europe. The girl had ripped skinny jeans on, a black and bloodstained shirt, and an army jacket as well as weapons strapped to her thighs and hidden in her combat boots. Even though she hadn't seen a zom in a couple days, that didn't mean they were absent from the world.
She walked up to the gate, looking from left to right trying to find anybody. She spotted Lee over to the left, immediately going over to him. "Hey, is this New Petersburg?" She called, not bothering to keep her voice down any longer.

Kestrel jumped down from his guard post, landing next to her. He had a small visible metallic device on the roof of his mouth. He started to speak, but nothing came out until a brief second later in english. "Hello! Yes, this is indeed New Petersburg! Please follow me and your complimentary currency and clothing will be provided."
The girl nodded, noticing the metallic device on the top of his mouth. "Whats that? She asked, unable to keep her curiosity under check. She followed him nevertheless, looking around in awe at the people and structures.
"Vocal barriers that were once able to be translated died along with civilization. Nothing but translating people to get Russian to English, so we worked for years on a device that would instantly translate words." He said as he walked her through one of the city squares. Large upkept buildings all around. "Translaters stop our vocal sounds from escaping our mouth, process them, and put out what we are saying in the language we need to speak."
"Nice." The girl said, surprised that some places had advanced in technology and some had declined. "So does everybody have one?" She asked, curiosity fueling her. She was tired from the walk here, and that wasn't even including the zoms she had to fight on the way here. She had almost gotten bitten multiple times, and her right leg was rusted as well as her fingers on her right hand.
He walked her to a large building with the words "ACCOMMODATIONS" written overhead. "Not everyone has them. Mostly workers and people who buy them." He replied as they walked into the luxuriously decorated building.
The girl walked in behind him, looking at the inside of the building. "Ah." She said, following him all the way in. "So how many people live here?" She asked, the questions keeping her going.
"A few hundred." He replied as they walked into a smaller room. "We gain and lose a few every day, some people would rather live on their own." He said, handing her a pile of black and white striped clothes, as well as a matching hat. He put a pile of casino chips on top, five of them with the numbers "20" on them.
The girl shrugged and accepted the clothes, wondering why they looked like prison clothes. So she asked. "Why do the clothes look so much like prison clothes?" She asked, a forced laugh following. She picked up the chips and dropped them into her jeans pockets, understanding why people leave every day.
"Notice that the lines are vertical." He replied. "The black lines are much larger, it's common around here. The prison suits are orange jumpsuits." He explained. "The chips are the sturdiest and most common type of currency we find, that isn't bent or torn to pieces."
"Any chance I can keep my clothes?" She asked, not wanting to put on the dull black and white clothes. She understood why they were using the poker chips, noticing how regular coins and paper can easily be bent. The girl scratched the back of her head, moving her foot back and forth on the floor.
Kestrel shrugged. "If you want to stick out like a sore thumb." He replied. "We have lots of classy places here, might not want a blood covered person waltzing in. Makes them look bad." They weren't as fancy as they used to be, but they still had standards. "They have to start putting standards somewhere."
Alec Mason was walking to the gate of New Petersburg. He had an Old firefighters uniform on. And had a Fireman axe on his back. Along with a Revolver on his brown leather belt hidden by his fireman coat. His Axe was pretty clean, Only small amounts of blood on him and his axe. He never really encountered many Zombies. And when he did he often tried to ignore them so he often did not get into much combat. In fact he has not even used his Revolver yet. He kept walking along and saw two people standing talking, He took his small pouch of Chips and tied it together real well in case they tried to rob him. He then slowly walked over "Hello! Can you two tell me where I am?"
(They are in a building but let's just say you walked in)
Kestrel turned to him. "You are in New Petersburg my friend!" He said. "Ah! Two new ones in one day! Let me get you your complimentary suit, hat, and currency." He quickly put a black suit, bowler hat, and 5 casino chips with the numbers "20" on them. "If you have any questions, feel free to ask, or you can stick around with my friend here as I show you two around!" He seemed overly happy, but the more people he brought in, the more he got paid.

The girl decided to keep her own clothes, but find a place to wash them. "I have another question." She said, her voice lost in the one guy's excitement. She had owned these clothes since she was old enough to hunt zombs, so there was no way she was ditching them.
Kestrel turned to her. "Consider me your guide, ask me anything you want to know." He replied.
(Dang.... Forgot the question. >_< Ah well.)
"Why are there no zombs around these parts?" She asked, stretching her arms over her head. Liz put the clothes back where she saw the guy pick them up. She was pretty curious as to why there were no zombs around, not believing that they had just disappeared.

"You can thank NOVAC for that. It's our defense force." Kestrel replied. "They protect us, so they stay." He added.
Alec nodded, Looking at the clothing he was given. 'I'll change later' He thought, And then looked at them "I hear a town got over run last week, Apparently they were not following the safety guild lines and were all wiped out from what I heard" He looked around "Was this city built from scratch during the zombie outbreak? Or just rebuilt during it?" He asked looking at every piece of the stricter they were in
