Can anyone define this for me? I have no clue what it means. I don't really need a dictionary definition, but a definition that even a 10 year old could understand. (I'm almost 15, not 10)
A deity is a god or goddess that is worshiped by a given religion. In Christianity, God is the deity. In Greek mythology, all the gods and goddesses are deities.
In polytheistic religions, such as Greek and Roman, certain deities are often favored by certain people and places, or for certain situations, based on what they are associated with (such as Venus/Aphrodite being for love and beauty). A warrior might favor a a deity associated with war, strength, victory, etc; a mother or midwife might favor a deity associated with family, care, weaving, birthing, etc; a librarian might favor a deity associated with knowledge, philosophy, writing/scribes, etc; and so on.

A deity is only relevant for a profile if it's something that matters to the character.
My character Pearl has no particular deity to worship so I don't really include it in her profile.
My character Sulan on the other hand is largely driven by her religion. She worships Bane, god of fear, hatred and tyranny and this worship guides her actions and has been part of the shaping of her personality. It's pretty important, so I included it on her profile!
