Ah, so you've come. It's a pleasure to meet you. Don't worry about what this place is. You won't be here long. In fact, I imagine you'll forget about this place entirely once you've made your decision. What decision? Why, look around, my dear! Did you not notice the items on the pedestals?

The wooden figurine. The many-notched staff. The ballet slipper. The blue arrow. The crown of berries. The five jacks. The brass goggles. The gilded knife. The bloody violin. The grinning mask. The half-eaten carrot. The golden heart. The mewling kitten. The tattered toy. The water bucket. The bottled fur. The wilted flower.

Choose well.

Select your character and PM me their choice (they don't get to keep it, sorry). I'll respond with the corresponding character for an essentially plotless interaction. The point is not story, but character development and experimentation; aside from that, it plays just the same as any other RP.

As an alternative, if there's a particular character of mine you'd really like to test one of your own against, you can simply PM me with their name.

To help me identify the PMs, please include "GB" in the subject line.

Optional: For a more specific kind of encounter, you can include "Random Encounter" or "Let's Chat" in your message.
More info
If you choose "Random Encounter," the setup will be like any other RP. A scene is set, and whether or not our characters meet and interact depends on our mutual guidance of them.

If you choose "Let's Chat," a scene will still be set, but I will define your character's current location/situation and my character will already be talking to yours within the first post. How your character got into that situation will still be up to you, if you feel like defining it.

I will try to fit my character decently into the setting for yours, but I will give mine precedence in the instance of a serious clash. Also, be aware that some of the characters included are prone to violence and foul language; if this is a problem for you, let me know, and I can guide you toward friendlier sorts.

Please do not discuss which items are associated with which characters.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. :)

And, if you'd like, I'm happy to give input on your character and/or writing, though I am by no means a master and anything I say is my person thoughts only. If you ask for input and I don't really say much, it's probably because I think you're already doing just fine.

Original 'Just an Idea' post
(Not sure if this should be here or in RP Discussion, but meh.)

So, I'm not good with plots. I tend to sit in the extremes - following along with someone else's plot (in as much as characters cooperate) or else the plot is all mine and I ain't sharin' anything. Middle ground is tricky for me (which is kinda funny, actually... but that's unrelated). I consider myself to be stronger with character development and portrayal - and that got me thinking a bit. Perhaps it shows me as a bit self-absorbed, but...

I was thinking of a sort of game of scenes; no specific plot, just a sort of testing ground or development tool for your character. Something like... your character finds themself in a room with various objects. Upon selecting one of those objects, one of my characters who coincides with that object would appear to interact with yours, perhaps pressing different mental/emotional buttons to test your characters reactions.

The idea of the objects is that your character would be selecting something they felt drawn to, whether consciously or not - so, for example, a depressed character who feels they somehow deserve their suffering might go for an object that's cruel or cold, while a similarly depressed character who truly longs for happiness might for go for something more comforting and sweet. I'd expect you to seriously consider what your character would go for and why, of course. I'm not sure if I'd swap out the objects to try keeping things mixed up or not. Or, alternatively, you could just pick a character to put up with for a bit.

Does this sound like something anyone would be interested in?
It sounds kinda neat actually. I think I may have to observe or participate to understand a bit better but it does sound really fun. C:

\o/ Interest!

I'm still not 100% myself on what way to go about it, but it should be just like any other RP. Just... focused on interaction, probably pretty short, and likely with a potentially surreal broken-incompleteness from being there and then not there. >.>

EDIT: I'm thinking I might do it as a presentation of the options, and just have people PM me with their character's choice. Not that the choices are likely to be terribly difficult to figure out, but maybe it can help a tiny bit with mystery. Especially if I get to throwing in some of the Temps characters.
Zelphyr Topic Starter

There. Now to see if anything comes of it. ^^;
I'm not even going to read your characters so it is a complete surprise for me. Expect a pm or two from me.
Zelphyr Topic Starter

Hehe, very well. ^^

So, this thing actually went better than I'd expected. Most of the responses I got seem to be tapering off now (as plotless interactions tend to do), so I figured I'd run it again and see what happens.

Just as an FYI, I think I was averaging about 1-2 posts a day with most (sometimes more, sometimes less), so long as my partner was also posting enough. For some, I had to be more patient, which I don't mind at all.

I also don't mind someone wanting to stop - though I do appreciate people mentioning when they want to stop, and not just going silent and leaving me wondering. ^^; Seriously, I won't mind if you're bored or anything.

On the other hand, I also won't object if you'd like to add a plot to keep things going.
This does intrest me. So basically I have to pick an item and PM it to you?
Zelphyr Topic Starter

Yup. :) Don't forget to pick a character of your own to use, too.
Okay I have just PMed you.
Zelphyr Topic Starter

Some of the items have been changed out. Muahahaha! Ha... ha?
Zelphyr Topic Starter

I've had things slowing down a bit, so I figured I'd boost this up again. :)

I think I'll toss this up again. Some of the items have been swapped out.
This sounds pretty interesting. I may have to try this.
