Cell Theta (played by Terel)

It had started out like any average day at The Hub. Another prototype had exploded in Tech's lab, causing him to get berated by Commander Dawn O'Hara, despite the fact he was nine years her senior. This caused her to be late getting her morning coffee and so she'd been in a bad mood when Arrow had come calling to complain about Jerian's latest prank.

Thus Jerian was quite unfairly (in his opinion) exiled from The Hub on a boring 'reconnaissance' mission. Which basically meant driving rather aimlessly around southern England until Dawn got enough caffeine in her system to calm down. It was by complete accident that Jerian found himself in the same neighbourhood as Safehouse Tau-Omicron-19. Since he was in the area the Paladin had decided to pay a visit to his childhood home.

The church was in an even sorrier state than he remembered. Either the years had been unkind to it, or he was looking back on the past with rose-tinted glasses. Either way the old church was clearly in disrepair; one window was bordered up, another was smashed, the walls were covered in graffiti and there were cracks here and there. Jerian parked his sleek black motorcycle outside and dismounted, slowly making his way inside.

The interior was little better than the exterior. Damp afflicted the ceiling and walls, floorboards were cracked or missing, it was dim and dust was everywhere. Most of the furnishings were gone. The place reeked of abandonment and disrepair. A vague memory tugged at the back of his mind... he'd read somewhere that the Safehouse had been shut down... though why he wasn't sure. Perhaps it was just no longer needed, and had been left to rot.

More memories, old memories, bubbled to the surface of his mind. Playing in the halls, watching Father O'Hara - later Knight Guardian O'Hara - as he wrote letters and worked on his computer, sometimes vanishing for hours on end on 'business' - out to fight supernatural creatures, or to work in the subterranean facility beneath the church. Memories of laughing, teasing bullies chasing him down the street, taunting the 'weird' kid... memories of nightmares, of creatures watching him, hating him... hating that he could see them.

Jerian pushed such old thoughts away. He was no longer a scared child who hid from the things that went bump in the night... such creatures fled from him now. The things he once had nightmares about now tossed and turned in their dank lairs, whimpering in fear of him and people like him.

This was the first time he'd come back here since he was fourteen, since he went to The Academy and became a true member of The Society. He didn't know why he'd come here now, or why he was rooting through the decaying building. What secrets could remain here for him? Surely Grandmaster O'Hara would have told him everything, he would not have kept back any objects or information and if he had... well he would have taken them with him to Central Command in Tibet, not left them here to be found.

And yet... and yet Jerian found himself drawn to the basement, as if something called to him. He felt around in the dark for... there! A part of the wall sank under his hand and there was a soft click. A hidden door opened and old lights dust-covered lights switched on to reveal a stairwell. The entrance to the Safehouse itself. Jerian didn't hesitate to descend the steps. He was eager to walk the corridors of his late childhood, and to see if this strange feeling had any basis in reality... to see if Safehouse Tau-Omicron-9 still had secrets for him to uncover.
Viktoriya (played by Freyya)

Viktoriya walked into the church, sweating and dripping with the rain that was pouring outside. This place seemed abandoned, and was probably the best hideout she'd be finding in the near future. She started walking around, trying to find a place where she could lay her head down and rest for a while.

She scavenged some loose pieces of cloth. They were filthy, but warm and either way, a lot better than sleeping on the rotting floorboards. She walked up to the altar and behind it. Her search was rewarded, a place was spared out underneath the altar that couldn't be seen from in front of it. She cleared out most of the dust and rubble and threw her blankets underneath the altar. Then she resumed to crawl underneath as well, rolling into the blankets and drifting off to a calm sleep. one she'd been looking forward to for a long time.

~

Stumbling in the church woke her up again. A quick glance at the windows confirmed that it was day, the light falling through them and onto the altar as if it was holy. She kept completely still, only to hear even more rumbling around. The blood froze in her veins, and the demon inside her felt it, starting to claw at her mental defenses, but only weakly. She managed to suppress him fairly easily.

Suddenly Vika heard a click, then footsteps going down stairs. She tried her best to recognize what it was, but couldn't be sure. When she finally dared to look around the corner, she stared straight at a hole in the floor.

Her curiosity won it over her carefulness, and she decided to follow whoever went in, and find out what this place was.

(O.o huge post, whoops!)

The bare metal of the underground sections of the Safehouse were dull, but not dirty. The Safehouse itself had been sealed for the past five years and though the air was stale the place was clean and it seemed as if the power still worked as the lights flickered on as he entered the corridor leading to the inner door.

Jerian laid his hand on the cold metal and closed his eyes a moment. It was an odd feeling of homecoming. He'd never really thought of it before, but this place had been home. A slight smile graced his lips, at least his new home was larger and better-kept and he had more company than just Knight O'Hara, almost like a real fam- Jerian jerked his mind away from such a dangerous thought and shook his head to clear it.

The door wouldn't open unless it received an authentic security code, a way to prevent people accidentally stumbling into the Safehouse itself. Jerian cleared his throat, "Mainframe."

"Online, power reserves... low. Functionality 72%," came a cool, almost emotionless female voice from hidden speakers near the door.

"Grant access to Safehouse Tau-Omicron-19, authorisation Jerian-Theta-Theta-12. Acknowledge," Jerian commanded.

"Authorisation code not recognised. Two attempts remaining," the computer replied coldly.

Two attempts until the automated defences activated. Most of them would have been disarmed when the Safehouse was abandoned, but some of the standard defences were difficult to remove, and in any case some might have been left in case someone tried to force access into the Safehouse.

Jerian cursed under his breath. This thing had been inactive for five years, of course it didn't recognise his security identification, "Mainframe, update archive records, search central database for file series Jerian-Alpha-0," he ordered.

"... ... Secure link established to Central Mainframe... downloading requested files.... accessing... Files accessed," the computer responded.

"Okay, now you know who I am... Mainframe, grant access to Safehouse Tau-Omicron-19, authorisation Jerian-Theta-Theta-12," Jerian commanded once again.

"Authorisation... confirmed. Welcome Elite Knight Paladin. Defences deactivating," the computer responded.

There was a click as the door unlocked and Jerian pushed it open, not bothering to close it behind him as he entered the Safehouse itself. Ahead the corridor ended in a T section, the left hand branch went towards the Virtual Reality training room and the armoury, with a side-corridor leading to the emergency sleeping quarters. The right-handed branch led to the kitchen, the archive and the recreation room. The wall of the T section ahead of him bore the three interlocked circles of The Order of The Nine, The Society, the five-thousand year old organisation of which he was a part, a kind of supernatural police force or military dedicated to protecting Humanity. What the creatures from beyond 'The Veil' called The Watchers.

The stale air began to stir as the air filters began to come to life and recycle the air, clearing it of the stale taste if nothing else. Jerian took a deep breath of the recycled air, more memories flooding in, "Well... I'm home," he whispered to himself, "Hope O'Hara didn't leave the kitchen lights on again, the electric bill will be awful."

Jerian allowed himself a chuckle and headed towards the kitchen. Most of the appliances would be gone, just like in the rest of the base - weapons, records, equipment, all would have been stripped out or destroyed when the Safehouse was abandoned.

Jerian found the kitchen to be bare and empty, the fridge, the freezer, the microwave and oven... all were gone, torn out, leaving big gaping holes in the counter-top where they should have been. The table where he had spent many evenings eating a meal with Father O'Hara discussing tactics, history and philosophy was likewise gone. The room felt depressingly empty.

Jerian looked around and sighed. what was he doing here? What was he even looking for? That strange feeling of anticipation, that something important was here was stronger, but still indefinite. The Paladin cast his gaze around and then shook his head when he couldn't see anything. He sat down on the floor and closed his eyes. His friends would be very surprised to see the irreverent prankster meditating, but even he knew the value of concentration when seeking for things, for reaching out with magic for secrets both hidden and plain to see.

He decided to concentrate on one of the few mantras he knew so he could focus, and once that focus was achieved he could weave a spell to help him in his search, "Om Tare Tuttare Ture Svaha... Om Tare Tuttare Ture Svaha..." He kept up the cadence of the mantra, concentrating on the flow of his breath in and out of his body, feeling himself calm, feeling his concentration sharpen, focus on the words.

Now he was concentrating enough he stretched out his awareness, invoking the magic deep within himself to extend his awareness beyond his body and into his surroundings. With a slight effort of will he suppressed the winds tugging at the extremity of his thought playfully, wanting to be free for mischief. This was no time to call upon his element, the wind was flighty and capricious and too easily distracted for this task.

The kitchen was as desolate and empty in his mind's eye as it was with his physical senses so he turned his attentions further away... on the extremity of his awareness he felt... something. A presence. Or was is two? It was... indistinct, difficult to read. Human? No... there was something there... there was something here with him.

Just before he was about to pull his mind back into his body and get up he felt a powerful flash of insight, a tumble of images, sights, scents assailed him, memories. Jerian's awareness shattered into a thousand facets as the torrent overwhelmed him. It was here. Something was here... something of his past... something hidden. The momentary joy of this discovery was drowned out by his desperation to pull himself back together and force his mind out of his surroundings, to force himself out of the meditative trance. He had found what he was seeking, or nearly so...

But he was not alone.

(shall we make it so that the events they met eachother in the first RP were actually there? Or are they complete strangers again?)

(Well in the last RP it was what I consider to be a possible or alternate future for the world if The Veil is ever destroyed, I generally fix the date for that at 2017, and keep the present year for the year the RPs are set in... so in short, I think it'd make more sense for them to be strangers since the world isn't being invaded by supernatural entities :) )
Viktoriya (played by Freyya)

Viktoriya was walking through the corridor, which whoever entered first had so carelessly left open for her to use. She sneaked through the corridor and the hallway, until she heard some stumbling in a room close to her. she hid in the shadows and crouched, listening in to hear whatever she could. For some reason the stumbling stopped. Fearing discovery, she quickly but softly moved back.

At that time, she shivered. Vika froze in her shoes, trying to figure out what it was that she felt, but she couldn't place it. It was as if something went through her, looked at her.
A deep rumbling echoed within her mind "He knows..." it said. Then went quiet again. She suppressed a curse. She wanted to go back out, so she rounded the corner. No exit. Great
Vika couldn't find the way out anymore...

Jerian stood up and brushed the dust from his jeans, "Mainframe, intruder detected. Initiate security lockdown, authorisation Jerian-Theta-Alpha-5."

"Authorisation accepted. Level Two lockdown protocol initiated. Level One defences active," the computer stated, "Alert; defences compromised. Automated defences in sections Alpha-1 to Beta-4 operating at 23% efficiency, defences in sections Beta-5 to Omega operating at 12% efficiency."

"Acknowledged. Mainframe dispatch Priority One message to Cell Theta, copy to Central Command. Message begins; intruder at Safehouse Tau-Omicron-19, threat level unknown, Knight Paladin Jerian investigating. Send reinforcements to apprehend the intruder... or neutralisation of the threat if I am... incapacitated. Message ends. Time delay... thirty minutes," Jerian ordered.

"Message recorded. Time-delay acknowledged," the computer replied.

There, if he was incapacitated the computer would send the message automatically once thirty minutes had elapsed and he'd get help. Nothing left for him to do now he would have to find this intruder before seeking out the... whatever it was that he'd sensed.

With the lockdown in place there'd be no way in and out of the Safehouse, all of the entrances and exits would be sealed and only someone with the right authorisation codes could open the doors or deactivate the lockdown protocols.

Jerian reached within himself and brushed the winds, the magic was eager to be set free, to play and to fight. The winds were difficult to control, liable to do whatever they liked, whether it be playfully mischief or terrible anger, the wrath of the hurricane and tornado.

He held a tight grip on his magic, forcing the winds under his control as he left the kitchen, pulling his handgun from his pocket. If worst came to worse he could use the knives he had with him as well, but he hoped that the intruder wasn't hostile.

"Mainframe, intruder location?" He asked as he quietly made is way out into the corridor.

"Unknown, sensors are compromised," it replied.

Great, they'd removed almost everything when they'd abandoned this place. no matter, he'd just have to do this the old fashioned way. Jerian checked the armoury first, in case whoever it was already knew the layout of a Society base and had gone to steal a weapon, but with the armoury completely emptied he wasn't worried that they'd find anything.

With the armoury checked Jerian made his way carefully, quietly through the rest of the Safehouse... but that feeling... the calling... still it tugged at the edge of his awareness. The thing he'd sensed, the secret, its call was stronger now as if it had sensed his search for it.

Somewhere in the underground facility a necklace of three silver interlocked circles glittered in the dark. Waiting, calling. It had lain here, hidden and half-forgotten, for nineteen years. Now, finally, its wait was almost over. Its owner, its heir, was coming.

(My posts seem to be really huge for this RP xD )
Viktoriya (played by Freyya)

(that's fine xD character art is done btw! different from when I described it in our previous RP, but that's because I gave the artist free reins :) )

This place was much bigger than Viktoriya had anticipated. She turned another corner and saw the exit. A smile of relief grew on her face as she ran for it. At that exact time, Jerian activated the defenses and an steel door slammed shut, blocking her in.
Vika just stood there, unsure of what just happened. "What is this place?" she looked around and shook her head. No time to stand there, whoever that other person was, he knew she was here somewhere. She had to hide.

As she ran, Viktoriya gritted her teeth. Why did she have to chase after that guy? Why did her curiosity take over again? She realized she didn't get enough rest the last night and was already feeling it. She turned another corner and ran towards some large doors that were still standing open.
"God please, let there be windows..."
Cell Theta (played by Terel) Topic Starter

Since the entire facility was located beneath the ground, partly as a method to hide the Safehouse and partly for security reasons, there were no windows for her to escape through. Jerian was carefully making his way through Safehouse Tau-Omicorn-19 with a surety that only someone who'd lived here for five years could possess.

He loosened his hold on the wind slightly, murmuring, "Find the intruder and tell me where it is," with that order given he let the wind go and the magic rushed through the air with the eagerness of a bloodhound and the chaotic joyousness of a mischievous puppy. It would be best if he let the winds get some play in before a fight happened, that way at least the magic would be less likely to go off on a tangent at an inopportune moment.

"Mainframe, activate final log entry Senior Knight Guardian O'Hara," Jerian commanded. He may as well try and glean some information about that... whatever it was he'd sensed whilst he waited for his magic to return to him.

"Log files restricted. Clearance Level Four required," the computer responded.

Jerian frowned, "Level Four? But... that's Council-level."

"Acknowledged. Records were sealed upon decommissioning of this facility. Level Four access required until initiation of Alexandria Protocol," it said tonelessly.

Jerian made a face, "A hundred year wait? No thanks..."
Viktoriya (played by Freyya)

Viktoriya smashed through the doors, eagerly looking around. She had been right, this was indeed a door to a larger room. But she was disappointed to see there were no windows. Of course there wouldn't be, she was underground after all. She knew that, but she still hoped. Maybe there were some stairs going up somewhere... She didn't give up yet. She ran back into the hallway and went into a new corridor.

At that point she stopped moving completely. She felt something... Wind! air! that means there has to be an exit around somewhere!
With renewed hope she started running, unaware that it was no safe wind that had touched her, but Jerian's magic. Not only that, she was running to find the source of that wind...
Cell Theta (played by Terel) Topic Starter

Jerian felt a small fragment of the wind return to him, he felt it 'whisper' to him, not with words but feelings and impressions. The intruder was up ahead and coming in his direction, unaware of him for now.

Jerian allowed himself a smile and switched off the safety on his gun, his free hand falling to one of the knives belted to his waist so he could draw it swiftly if needed. He stretched forth his will and called the winds back to him, but still sending out some small amount of it towards the intruder to draw it closer to him, for it was obvious that it was following the wind.

Jerian stepped into a side room and waited in ambush for the intruder to approach. surprise would be on his side and hopefully he could subdue whoever or whatever it was and find out what it wanted here.
Viktoriya (played by Freyya)

Viktoriya kept running on, following the direction from where the wind came. Her instincts were telling her to be careful, she was rushing too much. But she also trusted her instincts when it came to immediate danger. She'd sense it, or at least so she believes. The first priority for her was to keep him in check, no matter what happened. As long as she could do that, they'd be fine.

With those words in her mind, she turned into the corridor where Jerian was waiting. Deep inside her, behind the magical seal, the demon smiled.
Cell Theta (played by Terel) Topic Starter

Jerian could sense the intruder by now. It was a... very strange sensation. She felt like any Normal, but there was an... undercurrent of darkness, a taint, similar to Demonic Possession but not quite. The dark presence was not strong, at least not strong in the sense that it had overpowered her will as would be the case in most possessions.

Perhaps she had an item to which a demon or similar creature was bound, or perhaps someone had laid a curse upon her. It didn't matter. She was an intruder and there was a darkness coming from her. That meant that she was dangerous and very likely an enemy.

Jerian stepped out of the side room right in front of her and held his gun up, keeping her firmly in his sights, "Stay right where you are. You trespass in a Society facility," he examined her in a glance. She appeared to be a 17 year old girl, but that was always deceptive.

A frown flickered into place. He couldn't see her true nature. That was... strange. His True Sight had never failed him, no creature could veil its nature so well as to fool him. That sense of wrongness, of demonic taint was strong but vague. There was a connection to the Lower Planes here, but what he couldn't tell.

"Under the terms of the Golgotha Accords I command you to reveal your name and identity. Which Demon Lord do you serve?" Jerian asked. Even if the girl wasn't a demon herself, she was connected to one, and he was going to find out what it was!
Viktoriya (played by Freyya)

Viktoriya immediately skidded to a halt when she saw Jerian seemingly pop out of nowhere, and knew right away that she had been tricked. She had heard of the society before, a warning for them was her mother's final words. She couldn't remember her mother very well, but when he transferred to Vika, her mother was left dying. She spoke her final words "Don't let the Society find you". It was all Viktoriya could remember.

She grinded to a halt and immediately turned around and ran back in the other direction. Her heart was beating in her throat, and inside her own body she could feel him starting to growl
Cell Theta (played by Terel) Topic Starter

"They always run," Jerian sighed and chased after her, calling upon the winds again "The girl! Bring her to me!" He commanded and the magic obeyed, rushing down the corridors with a howl, ghostly fingers extended to seek her, to pull at her, to drag her and slow her down.

The paladin followed closely behind but as he passed one room there was a sudden increase in the calling from the whatever-it-was hidden here, it was so strong that it caused him to cry out and stumble and lose control over the winds. Without Jerian's firm hand the winds raced faster, howling with ferocity and unrestrained joy at their freedom. Soon their purpose was lost as they gusted around the Safehouse, tearing and whipping at things, it seemed as if they were whipping themselves up into a storm.

Jerian ducked into the room and away from the grasping of the wind, he stumbled towards a chest of drawers and gripped it to try and steady himself, but the calling was louder than ever and it pounded against his mind. He couldn't think, he couldn't concentrate, he couldn't assert his will over the wind any more.

On impulse Jerian tugged the drawers open violently and grabbed the object that had lain within for years. As soon as his hand closed around the silver pendant a flash of lightning drowned out his thoughts and he fell to the ground, hand clasped tightly to the pendant as a song roared in his ears. That was all he knew as darkness claimed him.
Viktoriya (played by Freyya)

The wind that was once gentle and controlled no surged forward and through the halways. Though at first it was definitely controlled by Jerian, but now Viktoriya wasn't entirely sure. The force slammed into her multiple times, but she felt as that was only cause she was in the way, not cause the magic wanted to hit her. What the hell is going on?

She would shrug if she could, but the girl needed all her force to hang on to the handle of a locked door. She tried moving away, but was sure the wind would take her wherever she wanted if she allowed it. So she didn't, gripping on tightly to the door.

The demon lord however, had other plans. He liked playing with new people, and if there was a good moment to do so, in his mind that would be right now. He started to boil up his powers and reached with his mind to Jerian, feeling it in a weakened state. With an unexpected and ferocious force it would start slamming against his mental defenses.
Viktoriya felt it, and her eyes went wide. Being connected to the demon, she felt as though her mind was being used as a weapon to slam against Jerian's defenses. She was now battling the winds, trying to suppress the demon and trying to fight a raging headache. She let out a loud scream and then gritted her teeth as she fought back

he was only laughing.
Cell Theta (played by Terel) Topic Starter

Even weakened, the Paladin's mental defences were strong and at first the attacks barely registered as his mind was swamped with visions, sensations and whispers from the object. The black-out had lasted only a moment, but he was still confused and disorientated, trying to fight the flow of information battering his mind.

Couple that with the sudden attack on his mind by the demon, Jerian was definitely off-balance. The barriers around his mind were primarily under subconscious control and so they were relatively unaffected by the turmoil of the higher mind. Even so the Paladin's defences were being overwhelmed by both the flood and the demon's more concerted, intentional actions.

Just as Jerian's shields began to crumble and he started to scream in agony something happened. A wave of power rippled out from Jerian's beleaguered subconscious, heat and light burned through Jerian's inner eye and he screamed anew as the pendant in his hand grew warm in his hand. He felt something... stir. Some barrier give way.

It felt like his mind was burning from the inside out.
