I've been itching to do a roleplay about a group of friends who gain superhuman abilities and have a hell of a time messing around with them. I have a setting in mind and a plot which will set of a chain of events causing a lot of trouble for our characters, but this can wait until we've had sufficient time getting to know one another, pulling pranks on unsuspecting people and using our gifts for our own gain.

Too few movies really get to explore this side of gaining powers because the plot kicks in too early. I would love to explore the consequences of this scenario.

This is similar to the movie 'Chronicle' and 'X-Men' with just a slight touch of 'Spider-Man'.

The Setting:

---Defects/ParaHomosapiens---

A small percentage of the world's population gain abnormal abilities overnight. Whilst the official term for these people are Parahomosapiens a slang term of "Defects" has been coined.

Every Defected person gains an increase in Agility, Durability and Strength. As well as a unique ability. The more a Defect uses their ability the more obvious it is they're one of them, this can range from a long list of physical changes from a drastic change in hair and eye color, body shape, height, taking on traits of various animals or insects. The changes do not appear to follow any sort of logic, as each defect is different from the last.

Secret for now. Just know that it can be activated like a firing pistol to step things up a notch.

Would these "defects" also have some sort of realistic weakness along with their powers?

The Defects don't have any weaknesses beyond those they gain through using their powers. The more they use them the more they stick out as such. The real weakness is that society hates and fears them. Death by a thousand cuts. Or an angry mob. As strong as Defects are an angry mob, once caught, would beat the crap out of one.

I say I'm all in for this idea.

What's the age range? I've got an idea, but he's young. I can always age him if I really need too.
