The Outcasted (played anonymously)

The worlds quite big if you think about it.Bigger than even humans imagine it to be.Imagine being only a few inches tall.Shorter than that of unattended grass.Smaller than some flowers.Smaller than most animals.

It was a sunny morning, and the sun was just starting to come into the sky.The grass was glistening with the wet morning dew, and all was nearly silent, seeing some people and animals were still sound asleep. But one small boy was walking through the grass, exploring the huge world in which he lived in.After all, everything's an adventure when your only around 4 inches tall.He looked up, seeing the house, that looked like a castle to him, he was heading back home from his morning adventure.

Olwyn gazed around her in awe at the newness of her surroundings. Perched on the first rail of a fence, which she had clambered up using the poorly hammered nails as a makeshift ladder, she had learned to be resourceful when it came to her height--or lack thereof.

Standing at only four and a half inches tall, she was about the size of a mouse, with brown hair that whipped in the slight breeze. It was still early, but birds were waking up and it wouldn't be long before other animals--and the taller human beings--did too.

Her eyes rested on the house in the distance. That was her destination, even as she hitched her light backpack up on her shoulders. She needed to stock up on supplies that had been dwindling since she'd left the last place she had called 'home'.

Hitching the small draw-string coin-purse up on her shoulders, she jumped down from her perch and headed through the blades of grass, making her way towards the house--her eyes and ears alert for danger.

Benjamin walked through the grass, for a human they would reach the house in not even five seconds, but for the four inch tall man, it took a few minutes, even if he ran- which he wasnt.A small breeze blew sending his shaggy blondish hair waving every which way, until the breeze settled.Benjamin looked up at the house and decided to run for it, maybe he'd get there faster. He adjusted the book bag that was on his back, and broke out running.Hoping, nearly praying that he wouldn't run into a threat.

Olwyn approached the house with fairly little trouble. Even the occasional glances at the sky for overzealous birds and ears tuned for cats, hadn't turned up any trouble and she was just beginning to relax when she caught movement.

She paused and turned, scanning the forest of grass blades for what had been the source of it. Already a few ants the size of her shoe were marching in a neat row several paces away, but they weren't what had made the movement.

She pursed her lips and then felt for the unbent and partially broken paperclip at her side that she used for a spear or staff or hiking stick. She didn't want to be mistaken for prey--but she often was.

Slowly she crept onward. Both eyes peeled for danger.

The young borrower ran towards the house, that was until he slowed noticed something move, and he slowed to a walk, drawing what he used as a sword.A simple needle with a green ball on the end of it.He looked t that particular spot with his reddish/greyish eyes, until slowly he started on his way again, trying his best jot to draw to much attention to himself. After all, he was open game to anything. He looked forward as he walked, but kept his 'sword' drawn just in case he was attacked. After a few minutes, when he thought it was safe, the world had other plans, and he saw a spider, bigger then himself, and he froze in place..

Nothing lunged at her or attacked just yet. She continued moving towards the house, before a strange sound reached her ears. A sort of scratching noise that was alien to her.

She paused and renewed her grip on the paperclip-spear as she changed directions briefly. Movement behind her again, and she spun to find a creature about as long as she was, but covered in fur, with big ears, a pointed nose, and a long naked tail.

A field mouse.

She felt her stomach churn. If it mistook her for an insect, she'd be in trouble. It ground its sharp incisors together for a moment, and she didn't move. Then with a minute shifting of its body, Olwyn realized what was going to happen.

She sprinted to the left, just as the mouse charged her. Oh man, this was not how she planned this trip to go!

"Please don't eat me!" she rattled off over and over again as she looked for an escape that would fit her, but not the mouse.

Benjamin stood there, frozen in place, almost like frozen in time.Anything could kill him, and this could too.He backed up a small step, then the spider attacked, jumping out to him, he jumped back to dodge it, then ran again. No, now was not the time to try to use a needle to attack. This spider jumps, which was a great disadvantage on his part. The spider followed him, like a cat destined to get a mouse, it wouldn't leave him alone! He looked back. Pesty little thing..

Olwyn dodged to the left and the right as the mouse darted back at her again and again.

Why did rodents have to be so darn fast and quick on their feet. And then suddenly they met at the same spot and she pitched over it with a yelp that startled it as much as her.

She landed face down, which was probably her saving grace, because the mouse buried its incisors into her pack instead of her neck. She slipped out from under, turning to thrust her spear at the mouse--wounding it enough that it dropped her pack and chittered grievously--before movement to her right caught her attention.

Now what? That was when she saw the multi-legged jumping spider and she panicked. Not those things again! She hated those!

(:3 I finally found accurate anime pictures of Benjamin)

The small, young man backed up a step once again, as if thinking 'hey, im a good guy, how about we forget you ever saw me, and we move on?' but sadly, arachnids cannot hear thoughts, not that they would understand simple English anyway. The spider made another move, and tried to attack Benjamin, and he swung his 'sword' cutting the spider across its face, making it back off, never underestimate the small people. However- his actions backed fired when the spider jumped at him again, and he barely dodged it, landing on his side on the dirt, but started getting up.He stood up, but something else caught his attention, and it wasn't just the spider that did..

The spider wasn't her problem however; it was the mouse that darted forward, its front paws with their sharp claws reaching for her.

She yelled and spun, whipping the paperclip forward and smacking its paws away.

"Stay back! Back!" she yelled at it. The mouse pinned its ears back and chittered, before jumping past her in the direction of the spider.

She let it go, before realizing there was a glint of silver over by the spider and she caught a glimpse of...someone... Her eyes widened and she scurried after the mouse.

"Hey! Hey! Run!" she called ahead to whoever or whatever was fighting off the spider.

Benjamin looked back at the spider, knowing it had it's eyes on him. But a faint voice he heard, "run" it said. It sounded like a girl speaking, but from where, no, now wasn't the time for self-conscious questioning. He did as the girl had told him and fled, just as the rat attacked the spider. He watched both creatures. Both beasts.

Olwyn saw movement that was neither mouse nor spider and breathed a sigh. Good. Whoever it was was mobile. Which meant he or she hadn't been attacked.

She sprinted after, giving the mouse and spider a wide berth lest she get entangled in the fight.

Casting a look around, she realized they were much nearer to the house than before. And that was about the time she stumbled onto the boy.

She tripped over a piece of soil in her surprise and narrowly avoided faceplanting in the dirt, clinging to a blade of grass instead.

"Got anywhere good to hide?" she asked him, saving introductions for when they weren't watching a mouse and spider battle for their respective prey.

He rsn and ran, fleeing from the scene, unaware that the girl, whoever she was, wad following. The boy stopped running quite the distance from the rat and the spider, not that he needed to be dinner anyway. He was hidden in the grass, and taking a second to calm his nerves. He looked t the girl, she was scout his height,"Well, I was going for that house up there" he said.

Olwyn brightened. "The house would be good!" She cast a look over her shoulder to see that nothing really moved in the dense grass. At least the mouse and spider were out of sight and hopefully a good distance away.

She brushed off the dirt clods that had collected on her clothing after her fall, and then sighed.

"Aw drats, I left my pack behind." She offered a tentative smile. "My name's Olwyn. Are you the only Borrower in these parts or is your family here too?"

(I didn't see you replied! sorry!)
(remind me to reply if I don't reply within a week :3 , cause sometimes my rps get lost in all the other rps I have)

Benjamin nodded and smiled a little bit. He to hoped the spider and the rat were long gone. They didn't need either of them getting hurt anyway.

His eyes made there way back to the girl before him, hearing her introduce herself, he introduced himself. "Hello Olwyn, I'm Benjamin" he said. "-I'm the only one.." he said to her, "well, besides you of course" he said. He had stupidly ran away from his parents a few years back.

"Oh, wow. You have an entire house to yourself?" The awe in her tone was hard to miss. "Talk about a smorgasbord."

She glanced around them warily. "We should keep going, I have a feeling that those creatures aren't the only things lurking around here."

Assuming Benjamin followed, she'd start towards the house again, grabbing the nearest twig for use as a staff or spear in case they ran into something dangerous.

"How long have you been here for?" An ant as large as her foot marched past and she gingerly kept out of its path.

"I wouldn't say to myself. They'res always the humans to worry about" Benjamin said. He didn't live alone, he always had to keep wary of the humans.

"Your right" he said and began to follow. Keeping his needle out incasd he needed it. It would be his luck if the second he sheathed it, something attacked. Danger lurked everywhere when your only 4 inches tall.

"Few months" Benjamin said looking around,

Olwyn nodded and made a face. "There's always humans about, but most of 'em are too dumb and slow to catch onto us." She offered a smile at Benjamin. "If you've been able to live there--here--for four months, you must be doing something right."

She kept her eyes peeled as the grass around them began to thin out a little. On the one hand, it made for easier walking; on the other, it left them more exposed, and she cast a wary glance up at the sky.
