Let's Ruin Prisoner of Azkaban: A Discord Roleplay Server
This is a Harry Potter Roleplay server for those of us whose relationship with the series can be described as... 'complex'. We love the series on some level. Many of us have spent long hours fantasizing about the Wizarding World and creating stories in it. But on various levels, we've come to understand that not only is the series' author a big bag of that one "oh no" meme, but that the Wizarding World was never anything close to the magical utopia it was sold as.
Originally this server was named "Hogwarts but #^$( TERFS", and that concept is definitely part of the idea. We don't take kindly to some of the nastier things JK Rowling has said, both about people in the real world (trans players and chars are perfectly welcome here) and the stuff she clumsily retconned into the magical world later on. (Sorry, no, wizards don't poop on the @&!*ing floor and any wizards who ever did are outliers.)
We further aknowledge that the Wizarding world had some pretty @&#^ed up elements from day one, and we embrace that for roleplay purposes as a deeply flawed society that our characters can react to and exist in. Some characters may be aware of some level of strangeness, but roll with it because everyone else seems to and authority seems to reinforce this oddness as normal. Others may be so ingrained in wizarding culture as to see anything outside it as intrusive and suspicious. Still others may be aware of problems in the wizarding world and actively trying to change things.
Our RP takes place during the events of Prisoner Of Azkaban -- which is to say, 1993 -- and part of the goal and expectation is that the RP will take the plot completely off its railroad tracks, in part because it's a large group RP discord concept and doesn't revolve around a single character.

Magic is common.
Modern
Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.
Some romance is possible, but the overall plot is more important.
Details: Freeform, adjustable length posts, long-term RP partner preferred. Will be played with a large group of players.
