"Never seen it before." David admitted, rolling the top to the gummybear bag up and putting them under his pillow. "Are you hungry?" He asked, rooting around his little shelter for the food he had.
Nausicaä watched David as he rooted around his food shelter. "Not really" she said. She ate stuff before she left home.
David shrugged and finally found a sandwich wrapped in foil to keep it clean. He opened the foil and took a big bite out of the sandwich, savoring the taste. He had been saving this since this morning, only eating once a day.
As the boy ate, Nausicaä stood up and walked away a little bit to a little puddle, and crouched down beside it, and starting playing in the puddle with her hands. She was a little bit away from David, so he wouldn't have to worry about getting water on his sand which.
David finished his sandwich, tossing the foil into a nearby dumpster. Getting up, he stretched his arms over his head and walked over to where Nausicaä was playing in the water. "When was the last time you saw your dad?
Nausicaä splashed in the water with her hands. As most children her age she liked playing in water, or mud, or really anything. Nausicaä stopped a moment and looked up at David, "home" she said.
"Then lets go." He shrugged, taking Nausicaä's hands and wiping them dry on his shirt. The rain had let up a bit, but you could never tell when it would start back up. "Do you know how to get there?" David asked, walking back towards the street.
Nausicaä stood up, water dripping from her hands until he dried them off on his shirt. He followed behind David, she looked up at him. "Nope" she said. She didn't even know how far she had walked from her house, she just knew what it looked like. What color it was, and the fact it had two floors.
"Is there anything by your house? Like a store or park?" David asked, reaching the corner of the alley. He looked both ways before emerging onto the busy-ish sidewalk, turning to look at Nausicaä
Nausicaa followed behind David, trying to keep up with the boy who was taller, and a few years older than him. "Theres a park nearby I think.." she said thoughtfully, trying to remember. She didn't know distance, or time either.
"Ok, describe the park to me." He reequested, trying to jog her memory. "Does it have a swing set or sandbox? Or how about a slide?"
She tried to remember. Her dad took her to that park every Saturday, so she remembered some. "It has a swing-set, and a few slides, and a sandbox, and monkey bars, and a few other things" she said thoughtfully.
"Does it have anything special in it? Like something that other parks don't have?" David asked, smiling down at Nausicaä.
Nausicaä looked up at him and shook her head. Guessing that it didn't. She believed it didn't have anything special that other parks didn't already have.
David shook his head as well. "Well, then we might be walking for a while." He said, walking towards the nearest park, five blocks away.
Nausicaä looked down, stepping purposely in the puddles of water as they walked, making big splashes each time. At least she wasent bored and talking a lot.
Unlike Nausicaä, David avoided the puddles and mumbling to himself. "Now, I know there is one on Haledale and Harris, and another on East 23rd and Eagleboard.
Nausicaä looked up at David, still stomping in the puddles, just to make a splash. She had heard her dad say those address's before in the far past.
"So lets try that one first." He said, rounding a corner onto East 23rd and Eagleboard. He looked around and saw the small park tucked away in between a couple houses, a couple kids already there. "Ok, is this park familiar?" He asked, turning to Nausicaä.
Nausicaä followed behind the older boy to the park. Once they arrived she looked around with blue eyes,
This is it a voice in her head would say, hearing that, she looked up at David and nodded.
