As the sun rose over the town, a figure on the road followed it over the hill. She looked out of place in the temperate, grassy countryside. Her skin was dark but her hair was a bright, fiery red and her eyes seemed like smoldering golden embers. Colorful cloth was draped over her and it seemed she might have worn a cloak, but it was a layer of her wrapped skirt pulled up over her shoulders to defend her tropics-born skin from the morning chill. One arm held the wrap closed from inside while the other stuck out, hand clasped around a wooden staff in which there glowed a bright, yellow orb that itself looked like a tiny version of the sun.
She paused when the town came into sight and silently observed it for a time. It looked like it should be suitable to restock her supplies. She only needed to find the market once it opened. With a slight jingle as she walked, the woman continued on to the town as its inhabitants woke.

The sun turned out to be a rude awakening for one of these members of the town. The individual raised his arm up quickly to cover his eyes as it shined brightly into the area. "Why do I always insist on staying outside during the nights.." He rubbed his eyes and sat up on the rooftop, Which was able to see a large portion of the town. The man stretched as he looked over the town, But only now did he see an individual approaching the town. His jacket he was wearing seemed to be very light something that wasn't made for warmth. The wind blew through the town which carried a nasty chill that seemed almost unnatural.
The man looked over to the individual keeping an eye on them. It almost seemed as if they were radiant, Illuminating like the sun itself. But, further inspection showed that it was the staff that the person carried that let out the glow. His interest was peaked and he wanted to figure out what someone like this was doing in a small town such as this.

(("piqued" ))
Though the sun continued to rise to warm the land as she walked, she found that the chill seemed to linger more in the town. Perhaps it was merely the shadows cast by the buildings along the narrow dirt streets that kept the warmth at bay. It didn't matter.
At first she walked through the town in silence as a mere observer. Eventually she asked one of the townsfolk where the market was. Her voice was thick and heavily accented, more proof that she was from far away. She also expressed no emotion, but was polite enough to bow slightly in thanks before she continued on to the market.
Stands were still setting up when she arrived. She found a spot out of the way, sat down, and closed her eyes to wait.

(Whoops didn't even realize Haha)
The man scurried off the rooftops and hung off the side of one of the buildings. He seemed to stay out of the sight of the civilians, Perhaps it was the fact that he wasn't welcome to lounge on their roof tops after dark. With quick movements he moved along the the side of the building and managed to come out into the market. Compared to the other towns folk this man stood out like a sore thumb. The colors of his outfit didn't manage to fit in with the surrounding individuals. The town wasn't exactly well known for its wealth, But it did manage to have a lot of people passing through. This had made this town a major hot spot for trading and marketing.
The man made his way through the crowds of people setting up before he made it to the far side. The man had thrown over a few occasional glances at the women sitting down. It was almost as if he didn't mind getting noticed that he was doing such either.

((It's a really common mistake. No worries.))
She felt it. There was a cold beyond cold, a cold that lay outside of physical perception. She opened her eyes halfway, and the golden-orange irises locked onto the source of the oddity. It was a young man looking right back at her. He was... dirty.
The boy didn't seem to pose any immediate threat, however. She closed her eyes once again and ran her hand slowly over the smooth wood of her staff. The staff lay across her lap and her legs were crossed as if she were meditating.

The man looked over at her again and realized that she had noticed him. It took him a moment to realize all the dust and filth accumulated on his attire from sleeping outside. He quickly brushed off the amount that he could and seemed to laugh just slightly. After the quick dusting most of it managed to come off. Perhaps a layer that just accumulated after the nights sleep. It took him a short about of time before he walked over to greet her. But, before he could get close he felt an intensity of heat growing ever so slightly. He looked over to her surprised. The same could be said on her side with the cold in the area becoming more condensed as he drew closer.
"Well, You seem to be generating quite a lot of heat. A bit more than I'm used to in these parts." He moved back and stood against the wall keeping a safe distance from her.

((Sorry, didn't mean actual dirt. More her perception of him.))
When the man drew near enough, there was something like a little flare from the orb but it quickly fizzled back to normal. A shiver ran through the woman. She opened her eyes when he spoke but did not respond to his comment or give any greeting. Her expression remained flat, but the was a slight, vague distaste as she appraised the young man.
"You are a dead man," she stated plainly, the words pronounced carefully and heavily. Between the low pitch of her voice and the quiet way she'd spoken, it could almost have been a growl. It was not meant as a threat though, only a statement of perceived fact. Perhaps as a proof that it was not intended as a threat, the temperature lowered, down from what she was more accustom to to what was more natural in the area. His presence was already chilling her anyway.

"A dead man? I never really thought of it that way. I just thought of it as an extended lifetime." He looked at her and the situation. He seemed to focus for a moment and soon enough the area began to become a little warmer. "I must apologize about the cold, It's not exactly something I can live without. Hopefully you can forgive me for the chilling introduction. I'm Blizzard, It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance." he looked over at the staff and the orb that seemed to be a replica of the sun. "I must say your staff is quite unique, Something I haven't seen before, especially in these parts. I presume you could say the same about someone like myself?" It was obvious now that Blizzard wasn't here for a confrontation. In fact it almost seemed as if the man was quite passive when it came to his actions.
The woman stared at the one who had approached her, never blinking as he spoke. When he finished she finally blinked, and answered slowly. She seemed to occasionally have to think of what word to use. "Yes. You are... 'unique' to my knowing, in some ways." The woman opted not to elaborate on what she meant. After another moment of silence she said, "I am Ananni. Why you do speak to me?"
"Why do I speak to you? Isn't it natural for individuals to talk and introduce themselves? I mean I suppose I can see why you'd be confused." he looked over at the crowd. "You could say I'm here for a daily basis, I don't really leave. I kinda took a liking to this place, so I just tend to keep an eye on people. I hope you can understand this." he leaned back against the wall and looked at the shops setting up. "Though, I'm not saying you're a suspicious individual. Your just new here so, I'd like to make sure nothing happens."
"I speak to strangers as needed only. I do not know d'at which you consider natural."
Annani looked beyond the man and to the market. She checked how close they were to opening and looked back at the man who called himself Blizzard.
"You say I am not suspicious yet you carry worry d'at I may do somet'ing? Or it is d'at you carry worry d'at somet'ing may happen to me?" The woman tilted her head. "You are a... protector of d'is place?"

It took a moment for him to think about the words that she spoke. "Well, I tend to worry about many people and their well being. You could say that I'm a protector of this place... Although these people don't exactly accept me for who I am. I guess they aren't exactly used to this kind of thing. But, I still can't let that get to me. So I decided to stay here for awhile. That is until I've decided to continue my travels else where. So tell me then, where have you come from. This may be a place of trade and a crossing point between major cities. But, it's always interesting to see people like ourselves pass through." Blizzard looked over at the market and sighed.
"You know I'm not sure why but less people have been coming through here recently. It's been affecting these people pretty hard. But, what can you do its life after all."

"You protect d'ose who do not accept you?" Such a strange man. Annani closed her eyes. "If you carry d'e worry for d'e world, d'e burden will crush you. If you protect d'ose who reject you, d'e pain of d'e heart will consume you."
The woman considered suggesting that perhaps the man himself was why fewer people were coming through. He had admitted himself that they did not accept him, and she doubted they were fond of the chill he caused. However, she knew that many individuals were prone to being overly sensitive, and she had no desire to instigate any conflict.
As for where she was from... she saw no reason to even acknowledge the question.

"Well Annani, it seems you view things much differently than myself. You see I've gone through hell and back numerous times in my life. I've protected those who reject me before and I'll continue to do it. I guess it's a way to make up for the sins of my past. The unfortunate lives I had taken when I didn't understand what I was. So now I go and make sure that I can protect those with what I am." he seemed to have spaced out for a moment thinking about something.
"Also, I've gone through so much pain in my life.. It's hard to surpass that which I felt so long ago. You could even say that I've been doing this for so long I've lost track of time. I feel like all the days are one anymore. Perhaps this is what you mean when you say it will consume me? I understand what you mean truly, but I guess there are some things I feel I must do to make up for my past." he sighed and looked up to the sky for a moment. Obviously this man has done some things he regrets in the past and it still has a mighty burden upon him.

The woman remained silent for a moment. The only sign she had even heard him was a slight twitch in her brow as he spoke. Annani took a breath and said, "It is a..." She muttered foreign words a moment. "...a t'ing of pride d'at you do. Ot'er side, why you do speak d'is to me? Your trouble are not mine. I will not accept d'em."
Selfish as she might seem, the vocal push was more a defensive maneuver than anything. It was not merely the stress of sharing any sort of burden that the woman feared, but rather what that stress might result in.

"For you to go and accept my troubles would mean I would have to give them away. I would of had to give them up in the first place. I don't wish for you to accept them. In fact it's my fault for bringing them up, I tend to ramble every once in awhile. That was my fault and I apologize for such." Blizzard looked over as they were just finishing setting up the market place.
"So what did you come here for in the first place? Supplies I assume?" he looked at her expecting her to get up and leave now that they had finished.

At the apology, the woman's eyes opened once more and locked on the man. "Your apology is recognized."
When he asked what she was there for she glanced passed him toward the market. Seeing that most everything was complete but for a few lagging behind, Annani turned her staff upright and hit the butt of it down onto the ground. She used it to pull herself up.
"Yes, supplies." On her feet, she promptly shifted the head of the staff away from him, expressionless as ever. "You will still... 'make sure not'ing happens?" Her question was more if he would follow her.

"I believe I can trust you as an individual. Some people who come through here have that feeling about them. Those are the people I can't really trust and have to watch. I believe you are to be quite... Trust worthy. But, going back to your previous statement... Perhaps it's best if I were to leave this town. Maybe I've stayed here long enough, I have to move on at some point right?"
He moved himself off the wall and looked over to the market and sighed. "To be fair I probably am a reason why people avoid the town now."

"Few enjoy d'e cold."
Annani adjusted how the extra fold of her long skirt draped over her and walked for the stands. She went to the food first, examining the goods at each table with a slight frown. There was plenty of hard breads, both raw and dried meats, assorted wines and various other things she was unfamiliar with. There was also fruit, but only the small, almost-flavorless sorts that grew this far north. The grapes seemed reasonable at least, and she purchased some to snack on while she continued to browse. A chunk of bleu cheese made her grimace. She didn't understand why anyone would eat such a thing.

"This is true, Unfortunately I was stuck with this curse and I didn't exactly get to choose what I enjoyed." He looked at the foods and realized there quality was much poorer than normal. "Well, Even the market people have seen better days at this point." He shrugged at the poor display of food. "You know, I'm curious now. Would you happen to be a magician of sorts, Or are you like me?" He stopped looking over the individuals of the market staring at him and giving him dirty looks.
