This Looking For RP topic is marked as closed, meaning it is no longer seeking new players.

(Huzzah! I'm back. ^-^ Friendly nudges are welcome if familiar faces would like to continue our existing stories of past. <3)

Hi folks! I look forward to crafting some awesome stories and see our characters connect with the tales below. Adventure, mystery intrigue, and slice of life prompts await. I'm seeking patience regarding pace and 2+ paragraphs on average so we have lots to work with, but I'm flexible on this request! I love to see inspired RP partners rather than a word count. 2-3 is my average with multi-para being consistent alongside me. Occasionally novella when I'm inspired! For pace, I seek rich writing with quality over quantity in mind. I welcome weekly posts with engaging RP buddies, rather than multiple posts a day of continuous internal dialogue, just as a random example! I'd say I write back within a 3 day span most frequently, or once a week when things get busy offline.

(RP goals:) It's also important that I connect with those who enjoy playing NPC's if the tale calls for them. I'm looking to create together, land partners who can take initiative, craft plot mutually and contribute 50-50. A friend said it best, "always the DM, never the player!" <3
I adore my groups but I'm not quite looking to play the role of DM this time around. The openers may be "mine" but the story is ours! With this in mind, I hope you'll consider them relatively freeform, tales you can add your own chapters to. If my RP buddy doesn't necessarily spark surprises or spawn NPC's of their own creation, essentially elements to collaborate and engage eachother with, I'll likely need to end our campaign politely. If these friendly requests interest you but you're feeling a little uncertain, there are handy examples at the bottom of this topic, too. ^_^ Lastly, I'll tentatively consider folks playing with anonymous characters, but I tend to favor public profiles out of personal preference. <3

(My RP style:) 3rd person, present tense. Fond of dice-rolls to gauge my characters dodging or blocking ability in scenes that might depict action, but not a deal-breaker if you favor the freeform style. Very flexible and welcoming with folks who favor past tense, as well as creative characters of original races and skillsets, unbothered by face-claim design. But I'd rather not write alongside say, 1st person POV, and I'd like to connect with original characters only. Flexible with writing different degrees of combat/injury, on the other hand. I'd rather not select characters on behalf of my RP buddy, please and thank you. You know your cast better than anyone, after all! ^-^ If the prompts below inspire your own ideas instead: gimme! It's certainly possible to alter these tales, too. Just depends on the proposal!

Tales of Adventure.

(All adventure tales/prompts require mutual NPC's from us both, preferably unprompted but even so, it's always okay to touch base if you're uncertain. ^_^)

Like Mother, like daughter?
(Abrupt meet-cute, action, combat.)
While traveling along the trail of a dense forest, YC is quick to take cover behind an accommodating tree, observing armored men on horseback, one after another in search of something. It's only after the heavy steps of those mounts move on, that a woman's voice can be detected in the distance. Quiet, seemingly hushing another. In time, a Noble woman of Devil-heritage can be glimpsed high in the air, snagged in a typical net left by a hunter, no doubt. It would be easy to trade in her location by the temptation of a reward, but a small newborn cradled against her person brings about more questions than answers. (Whether a supportive helpful sort aims to free the pair promptly, or a self-serving sort makes her location known to the tracking-party nearby, action & conflict is sure to follow. For baddies aiming to turn her in, I'll likely need some OOC/Player consent to "relocate" your taddle-tale.)

Fallen Hero.
(I suspect this one could be considered long-term, depictions of combat likely a given, action, war, with a challenge of intrigue at our finale. This one heavily depends on collaboration as I'm not quite looking to take the lead solo. <3 )
What happens when our Hero fails? When they fall during war, and victory slips beyond their fingertips? Your character does something that no one has in many a century; they resist death itself. Perhaps it's the resolve of their Soul, perhaps YC doesn't know or understand this themselves, but after passing away across the battlefields' brutal grounds, they regain consciousness just beyond the entrance of an afterlife, rather than appearing inside as all departed Spirits ought to. Fascinated by this curiousity, the Goddess of this space greets YC personally, intrigued that someone could possibly resist their own Departure. The talented hero pleads/explains their case before Her, and She considers breaking her own method by providing them a second chance to win their war...at a cost. Crafting the Fallen Hero into Her very own Risen Warrior...(Flexible for the plot details, an opportunity to explore adventure and intrigue if your character faced an early end. YC ought to be passionate and determined to win the war they fought for. Open to all mortal races, both genders welcome.)

Hostage takeover.
(Short term, combat/action, political drama.)
The expecting Princess and YC (Noble friend, guard, handmaiden, servant/messenger, etc!) are confronted by the royal Advisors, accused of helping a person of interest who has reportedly escaped. In their desire to question them and prevent the Kingdoms' citizens from learning anything further, the court forces a lockdown upon the castle itself, effectively holding everyone hostage within. The Ruler and YC fight together for their freedom against this political insanity.

Enchanted forest, inconvenient Guide.
(Opportunity for comedy/light-hearted adventure. Action and enchanted combat with local flora.)
For one reason or another, your adventurer or traveler finds themselves turned around, lost within a magically-inclined forest. A curious child of 9 comes across them, reluctantly accepting their aid as a guide. Indulging their curious questions for the sake of leaving this forest in one piece. (My child OC can hold her own in the midst of combat, so not to worry. Purely a short term, classic adventure, no escort-mission is found here.)

Students become the Teacher.
(Magical mayhem, strategy, unlikely underdogs.)
While attending class as usual, the day unfolds like any other at a magical Academy. Our aspiring mages-in-training encounter the sensation of a swift drop, an intrusive pull, as if they missed a step in the depth of a dream. After an unknown stretch of time, our classmate-characters awaken at last, finding themselves freed where they were once frozen at their desk. However, fellow Students and nearby Tutors are both locked in place, as if their class had been preserved. It's the sound of intruders that prompt the unlikely underdogs to make themselves scarce, hiding themselves as they try to make sense of these strange happenings. The only thing they're certain of? The school has been invaded, and their powerful Tutors are trapped to time itself. (Characters of any gender and any fantasy-race are welcome! This setting takes place in a diverse, high-fantasy land. Minimum age would be 16, but with the Academy being a college-esq atmosphere, older Students are just as commonplace. Open to seasoned mages, new mages, senior Students and new arrivals alike. Unlike the other 1-on-1 prompts here, this is for a group RP only.)

To the Gallows.
(Strategy, drama, varying combat.)
Our characters have found themselves sentenced inside a prison reserved for the worst of the worst. Sharing both a barred wall and execution date, the pair hatch a plan to escape their fate. An intricate work of strategy? Brute force? Time shall tell. (Magically inclined prisoners are shackled with suppressive steel all but blocking magical means. The prison sits in a land of high-crime and corruption, making it plausible for both criminals and innocent characters to enter this plot, or those who have been caught committing minor crime yet sentenced to a major punishment.)

Secrets better left Unsaid.
(Flexible levels of combat pending partner's input, royal/political drama.)
The Princess and your character, a member of staff have been close for many years and share an almost sibling-like bond. (Humble servant, bodyguard, Noble Lord/Lady in Waiting, Knight, etc) Confessing to none other than her treasured and respected friend, the secret is about to stir the entire nation...unless your character can successfully deliver something irreplaceable to a sacred place of safety, navigating past enemy forces throughout. (With my royal OC staying behind to give yours a head-start, I will be selecting another character to join this quest. NPC's ought to be played mutually for this story sometimes, but the use of NPC's will not be continuous, either.)

Unlikely Heroes.
(Short term, flexible combat, strategy. Available to middle-class characters/Commoners; characters who do not possess magical skill. Magical characters can still partake if you're open to blocking this skill, tho!)
Your humble traveler boards an airship to reach their next respective destination when they come across a pleasant handmaiden on board, too. The pair are in the midst of friendly conversation when the airship is invaded! With the gifted fighters and talented mages locked away under close watch, the commoners on board are mostly overlooked beyond basic restraints. When the two Unlikely Heroes overhear their future fatal plans from the invaders, they use their unassuming nature and work together to take back the airship and save the lives of everyone on board. (Mutual NPC enemies needed. We'd both play the invaders throughout. <3)

Tales of Mystery.

For the love of God.
(Short term, mystery intrigue, no combat, great potential for reviving old characters, or for players who would enjoy this to "debut" with new characters.)
Mortals lead unpredictable lives until one day, it is time for their next chapter. When your mortal character passes away before their "time" among the lands of Tanbarune, the afterlife is not what they expect! They are greeted by the Mother of Souls herself, Conductor of The Inbetween. Is fate accepted and Her company enjoyed until Reincarnation, or can a deal be made for a second chance at their Past Life?

Assignment gone wrong: The blackmailed Assassin.
(Action/adventure, combat.)
With the target taken down by YC as intended, it's another smooth mission...Until the loss of your assassin's hair, then their skin in waves, even the loss of a finger or two. They discover that their now deceased target has bestowed a rotting curse as a parting gift. Unable to lift it without their aid, they are forced to undo the murder by journeying inside Hell itself to reluctantly retrieve the Infernal Noble. Their only chance at a cure. (Couple ways for this to begin! An opener from my RP partner that might depict the final "blow" of assassination, for those who are burning to paint their OC in the midst of skilled combat. Totally optional, because I can offer an Opener that depicts the curse itself from my targeted OC before they fall, then give a time-jump/progression in the same post to get things started. Happy to take the lead initially! ^_^ With this tale, I'm envisioning NPC's from my side at our beginning, the obstacles and Demonic foes. However, it'll be important to play foes from both sides when our characters make their escape.)

Tales of Chance.

(Chance encounters! One-off scenes to be considered platonic meet-cutes. They likely fit into the short-term slice of life variety. Great introductions to our characters with possibility of some character development along the way. Spontaneous freeform, compared to the structured Openers above. Whenever one of us feels ready to conclude/complete this slice of life story, one of us could initiate a farewell before our OC's part ways. (As one example!) I'd like us both to progress the IC time throughout the interaction. <3 But with good ol' communication, there's room for a tale to become long-term, for the initial meet-cute to evolve into another tale.

The Queen's Shadow.
Seeking original child characters! I like a scenario inwhich a little one bonds with the Queen among the royal castle/court. This child could be from Noble parents who are visiting/living in the court as guests, or instead the child of a stationed Servant. The age can be very flexible, perhaps a range of 5-11.
The Queen becomes mutually fond of the curious little one following her about, perhaps -- and ongoing wholesome scenes await. If we're having fun and this becomes long-term, I like the possibility of offering the future Princess/Prince OC to you when the Queen is expecting again. Should you become fond of the world lore and plotting together, that is! High fantasy setting with lots of diverse fantasy races.

The Witchy Woods.
A young apprentice no more than 9 years old is roaming along a wooded trail, the winding path in question leading toward a nearby township. She is tasked with an errand for the day. The little one offers your Traveler water when they meet upon the man-made path, sharing friendly conversation as they pause from the demand of a busy day.

Friendly servitude.
Both our characters are recent hires when they are stationed to the same post in a royal castle. Collection of fresh foods in the gardens, cleaning and tending to Pegasai stables, preparing meals in the busy kitchens as cooks for the afternoon, and so on. The pair exchange friendly "war stories" and work together to complete today's duties. Perhaps they're able to teach eachother new skills in doing so. In the coming days, they're relocated to a new bathhouse along the tourist district of this diverse Kingdom. Upon arrival, they discover there is more to be done for renovation, but potentially embrace the new assignment in the company of their newfound friend.

Her Majesty's newest hire.
In this setting, your servant-OC is successfully hired among a shorter contract to serve a "term" at the royal castle with generous wages, meals, and comfortable lodgings among the servant chambers. The Term acts as an opportunity for the hardworking middle class to learn new skills and further fluff one's resume for the future. Assigned to the future Queen herself, they are tasked with just a little bit of everything as the second pair of hands at her side. Wake up calls, drawing baths, dressing, stationed throughout meals or delivering them, and even work as a stand-in messenger to relay letters, formal word from the Court and of course sending word from the Princess herself as need be. All genders welcome! Simple slice of life and a cozy means of developing newer characters to your collection, perhaps.

(Retired prompts in storage!)

Defend the Walls.
(Closed to new partners!)
When the Princess learns that the royal castle is being taken over by another, she grabs the hand of your character and they escape into a secret room together. Your character could be anything from staff to Sunborn (royal) guard or another member of nobility, an honored guest from another land with terrible timing! The two put their heads together to evade detection and hatch a plan to end the invasion. (Ideally a small group RP with 3 players total in PM, but I am also open to 1x1 for this story.)

Fog of the Forgotten.
(Survival, intrigue heavy combat/action at times, NPC's required from us both, strategy.)
An ominous thick crimson fog has been pouring across the kingdom of Tanbarune steadily, named for the citizens who have ventured within only to never return - forgotten. When all attempts fail at ending this nightmare, our characters take it upon themselves to explore inside, hoping to discover anything that could stop these disappearances. Instead, they are met with the conjured horrors from their partner's past in this fog. Still in earshot of eachother, they must literally overpower their greatest fears. (Your character faces the real, now sentient horrors of my character's past and vice versa!)

The Runaways.
(Mild combat, unlikely friends, potential for some comedy and character development.)
Your character is on the run, fleeing to the diverse land of Tanbarune when a small winged lass faceplants into their chest. It seems that she too was making a hasty getaway what with her fast flight. The pair agree to travel together to the Capital, evading those that may be on the lookout for their respective Runaways along the way. (My character for this tale is outspoken with a witty nature at times, so ideally the new companion will be someone compatible!)

Blood for your freedom.
(Heavy action, mild/flexible depictions of injury.)
Our characters are teleported from their respective homelands and arrive into an enclosed underground colosseum with unpredictable foes. Made to survive the fight of their lives for the entertainment of their mysterious host, one floor is cleared after another, fighting their way to reach the surface and freedom. (4 floors/battles total (negotiable), taking turns creating the type of enemy for that round. The gameplan is for my partner and I to play the NPC enemies opposite eachother's characters. Super simple mechanic that I can elaborate for those who are interested. <3)

Lend me your Eyes.
(Short term, classic adventure.)
Would your muse lend their eyes to a blinded Goddess? Well, a voluntarily blindfolded Goddess. She wishes to navigate the mortal realm to visit an old, cherished friend. The sentimental immortal seeks adventurers willing to accompany her along this journey. Shortest path takes them throughout the winding caverns of old, beyond the infested lake, and onward to a simple, modest village; the final destination for this nostalgic ancient. YC is also gifted a curious protective pendent, cautioned sternly against its' removal, unless they desire company. The incentive to join her along this journey, one might wonder? Why, almost anything YC's heart could possibly desire. Most requests are child's play for a God, no? Enchanted armor, unimaginable wealth, a loved ones' cure, a unique magical ability, everlasting life? Decisions, decisions. (Smol group RP, 3 of us total in PM. Seeking friendly or neutral characters that can play decently with others, rather than standoffish characters.)

(NPC jibber-jab, collab ideas and examples.)

RP buddies are always welcome, (and encouraged!) to converse OOCly where we can chitchat about collaborating. On the other hand, folks might want to read more about this preference from the original topic. So here we are!

Depending on the genre, the opener that catches your fancy, etc; I request that RP buddies potentially spawn NPC's such as baddies for short-term conflict, staff members within royal/court scenes such as passing guards, servants for RP flavor, something more abrupt like a fantasy monster attack, if and when you might crave the action. Collaborating could also mean kickstarting a hiccup; an obstacle or problem during our story that our characters need to resolve together.

As a smol recommendation so we don't find ourselves confused, I'd love to stick with playing separate NPC's. For example, if you spawn someone into our active scene, I wouldn't RP them/control their actions.

Instead, I'd enjoy spawning my own NPC, following your muse by crafting someone I can engage your OC with. If you spawn spontaneous bandits or another example listed above, I'd create my own that can approach your OC. Similarly, it would be a big help if the bonus characters I spawn aren't roleplayed by my writing partner. I hope these extra tidbits can help inspire some ideas, and I hope the examples can show how this might play out during roleplay. Always freeform with me, inspiration should never ever be forced after all, and at the same time, I'm after RP buddies who would like to join me with chapters/scenes of their own creation, too! <3

Feel free to comment below! <3 I shall keep this updated as more ideas come to mind.
Magic 100%
Mundane? What's that? Magic permeates every part of the setting. Almost everyone has access to strong magic.
Technology 30%
Renaissance
Combat 50%
Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.
Romance 00%
No romance at all will be included in this plot, period.

Details: Occasional dice use, paragraphs required,

Adventures with collab of NPC's and elements of other things in them. A mix of the prompts you made. Romance is kind of an iffy thing with me, since I like to play my character/s with intent to get affectionate, but nothing beyond that. Best example would be no erotica from me.

Beyond that, I enjoy creating/adding onto story-based RP's, injecting variant NPC's and a few other things to spice up the story. I can freeform/dice-roll since I am well versed in both styles.
rolled 1d20 and got a natural 4.

Note: Charisma, GO!!
