In the land of Aurelia, alliances and trade agreements have fostered prosperity among kingdoms and guilds. However, the tranquility is shattered by the sudden appearance of portals. These portals lead to a single odd, mysterious dimension. It becomes evident that Aurelia is inexplicably connected to this strange place, with magics blending and structures being forcefully fused with others near said portals.
In response, guilds within Aurelia seize the opportunity to undertake expeditions and quest into the mysterious dimension along with work they already received. They take on jobs related (and unrelated) to these portals, exploring the unknown, uncovering mysteries, and facing the unpredictable consequences of the convergence.

Near future, perhaps cloning and genetic manipulation
Combat is woven into the storyline and could come to the forefront if the characters seek it out.
Romance is desired but not required, and will balance evenly with other plot.
