With a deafening boom, the four reappeared just outside of what appeared to be Dasdanus, the city where Magnus first found fame and recognition as the White Knight of Flames. Him and Nashyll both crashed solidly into the ground, still being carried by the momentum of the blast they had experienced moments prior, while the two gods reappeared still entangled in battle. The knight sat up, still dazed, holding his head and looking towards the two combatants.
"Ugh... What just... happened?"
The armor-clad god landed another solid punch, the tentacled abomination making a sickening crunch as it seemingly collapsed and let out another wave, flinging them both through space and time again. This time though, the other two had been thrown far away enough to avoid the blast, sparing them from another nauseating traverse through whatever it was they'd just experienced. Magnus simply blinked for a few seconds, his face blank, his mind trying to find an explanation for what happened. Shaking off the confusion, he turned to Nashyll and put his hands on her once more to continue healing her, when he came to a horrifying realization.
"Wh-what? Why am I naked?"
The man looked down, bewildered, and became even more alarmed when he saw a blue gem jutting out of his chest.
"What? How did this... why is it in my chest? Oh god, is this an egg?! AGHAAAGHAAAGH, GET IT OUT, GET IT OUT!"
He looked around rapidly, crawling backwards away from Nashyll. His hands went from clawing the gem in his chest to covering his private bits and back again, trying to do both at the same time, as his mind raced with the horrible implications of having a dragon egg implanted into his chest.
"Nashyll! Nashyll, you need to... Oh god she's gonna see me... Nashyll! HELP!"

((All the lawls. All of them. Also, most epic opening ever. Even if it is more of a middle. ))
The silver dragon stared blindly as she tried to figure out what in the world had just happened. There had been pain, there had been chaos, there had been... something that left her dizzy and sick... and now they were in some sort of city, and the creatures that had threatened them only a moment before vanished just as quickly as they'd appeared. Cautiously, she reached out with her mind, just to confirm that Magnus, at least, still seemed to be present.
And then he was screaming.
Nashyll rose quickly to her feet; too quick, causing her to half tumble back down as the world spun for a moment.
'What's wrong? Magnus!' She awkwardly tried to get back up, unaccustomed to her dragon form thanks to having barely ever used it. Her head careened as her blue eyes searched, and found him at last. Naked. Again. It was suddenly very convenient that dragons didn't blush.
Nashyll's first instinct was to make some article for him to cover with - and then she remembered that she no longer had that ability. Something else pulled at her attention at that moment, though. She'd missed it at first as his hand tugged at it, but there, seemingly embedded in his chest, was a remarkably familiar stone. His personal situation suddenly didn't matter anymore.
Though she certainly didn't have his panic, her mental voice was still laced with a certain fear as she asked, 'The stone. Magnus, where did you get that?'

The man looked around frantically, trying to find something, someWHERE to cover himself. He decided on a nearby bush, which although thorny, would at least protect his dignity.
"I don't know, I just grabbed it from the black dragon's remains! I saw it, thought you'd need it, so I put it in my pocket. Now I have no pockets, and it's in my chest! OH GOD IT'S YOUR EGG. Is whatever that's coming out of here gonna eat like you?!"
Magnus' movements became even more erratic, clawing at the gem without success. His fingers slid on the smooth stone at every attempt, and he seemed to be unable to teleport or transform fully into flames.
"It's blocking my abilities somehow too! I can't morph info flames, I can't teleport!"
With a sigh of frustration, the man gave up on trying to pry the gem out, instead waving his hands and willing clothing into existence with his flames... or at least attempting to do so, having the technique fail completely. Magnus looked at Nashyll with eyes wide, a mix of confusion and fear rarely seen in the usually calm, jolly warrior.
"That's never failed before... What's it doing to me?!"

From the other body. He'd gotten it from her other body. Oh god he had her heartflame. Wedged in his chest.
'It's not an egg,' she told him plainly, mostly because she couldn't figure out what to make of the situation, nor what to do about it. She tried to avoid thinking of any possible implications.
Concern overriding care, Nashyll reached forward and pressed a heavy forefoot down on his shoulder to hold him in place him as she inspected the smooth, deep blue stone. She drew closer so that she could lift the other forefoot and pick at the stone with a talon, but it did no good; instead, it slipped, and she left a small puncture in Magnus' flesh.
'Sorry. Maybe... maybe we can cut it out.' The worry was finally creeping back into her mental voice. 'I don't know why it would do anything to you, but... but we need to get it out. It's mine. You... I mean... It shouldn't...'
The dragon pulled back, stumbling over her hind legs in the process, but managing to roll back up. She started pacing, the fact that Magnus was still naked now far from her mind. After some hesitation, she finally blurted, 'That's my heart! It's that stupid... stupid heartflame thing... It shouldn't even be like that! Mom wears dad's as a necklace! It's not supposed to embed... Magnus, why is my heart in your chest?!'

"Hey! That hurt! A little care, please? I AM just flesh and bone after all!"
As the dragon stumbled backwards, Magnus placed his hand on the wound, stopping the bleeding until his healing kicked in. Yet, after a minute, the wound still hurt just as much as before. Taking the hand off the wound revealed that, although a very thin line of bright white light could still be seen slowly restoring the flesh, it was far slower than the rate he was accustomed to.
"This isn't right... You say this is your heart? A dragon's heart... Maybe it's messing with my powers much like whenever I try to use them against certain creatures. I'm not sure why, but my flames have varying effects on other races"
Magnus stood up and began pacing, as he usually did when going into one of his speeches, still keeping to the area behind the bush. As focused as he was on the issue at hand, his nudity was still at the forefront of his mind, especially with Nashyll around.
"Most are affected by them just like any other flames, but demons are extremely weak to them, fairies seem to be entirely unaffected by the fire itself even when the ambient heat can still affect them, sometimes their dust will even cause the flames to change color. Some angels are strengthened by them, ghosts and ethereal beings will become corporeal but are otherwise fine, and something about dragons makes them resistant to my flames, with the added effect that their blood will dampen my abilities if consumed. I've been poisoned with dragon blood before and it weakened me greatly, I wonder if having this in my chest is having the same effect. I thought my soul pact with Skyblazer had solved this, but..."
Magnus outstretched his hand toward Nashyll, a flicker of flame appearing and quickly dissipating, the event repeating every few seconds. The man's arm muscles tensed, his brow furrowed in intense concentration, but he couldn't muster more than a pilot light's worth of flame. With an exasperated sigh, he returned his hand to the wound, wincing as he applied pressure once again to make sure the bleeding stopped.
"This is bad, very bad. I'm powerless, naked, wounded and broke, with a gem in my chest that I have no idea how to remove. If we try to cut it out, we run the risk of me dying, and I have no idea how long it would take for me to come back. Right now, I know nothing, and that makes me quite uncomfortable."
The man slumped to the ground, staying behind the bush to cover himself, rubbing his temples gently. But suddenly, an amused smile crept to his lips, and he looked at Nashyll with a teasing, playful grin.
"So, I have your heart huh? I always knew you'd come around eventually, no one can resist the charm for long"

Much as Magnus seemed to be calming himself down even as he listed off his current problems, Nashyll's concern was only growing. Why was her heart in his chest? What if it started doing to him what it had to her all of her life? Surely it would overwhelm his healing, even he it wasn't being hampered! But no, it seemed like that would have been noticed by now. Maybe it was dead, then - after all, that body was surely dead. But why was her heart in his chest?
She snorted at him, only further irritated by how well he was suddenly handling everything. His little joke was no help either, all things considered... With a growl, she told him, 'Mates give each other their heartflames as a sign of matrimony. You might as well have a wedding ring welded on.'
The dragon tilted her head. 'I mean... that bothers you, right?' She shook her head furiously and began pacing about the bush, not yet even aware of the small crowd that was already beginning to gather about the spectacle of a naked man with a dragon. 'Of course it bothers you. No one wants to be forced into something like that. Just... just cutting it out should do... but if it's messing with your powers, maybe not. It might... oh god I hope this isn't worse than just being embedded. Maybe... maybe my mother... No. No-no-no, she's always given terrible advice about this, and she wouldn't know anything anyway. If dad was around... but he's not. And there's... none of the others...'
Nashyll finally stopped and looked nervously back toward Magnus. Noting that the blue stone had actually shifted toward violet, her eyes widened, and her fear was fairly plain, even in her reptilian face.
'Unless you have any better suggestions... I think we need to find my grandfather.'

"Matrimony? But I'm so young!"
The playful tone in Magnus' voice clearly stated his calm, as knowing that it wasn't actively causing him damage was enough. Even so, he seemed to once again have stumbled into trouble, this time with a tradition he was unaware of.
"I'm not really worried about it, Nashyll. I understand that your race thinks of it that way, but hopefully it won't be permanent, and we can go on with our lives just fine. After all, you really should avoid any permanent ties to me, you might have noticed already how hazardous to your health being around me can be"
As he spoke, the knight could hear muffled voices nearby, and so he turned to ascertain their source. He blushes slightly when he realized that there was a big group of people standing close by, watching their interactions. Seizing the opportunity, he turned to address them, making sure the bush would keep his modesty.
"Hello! We're sorry for the disturbance, but I am in need of clothes and medical assistance. My name is Magnus, and this is my traveling companion Nashyll"
At the words, a small child moved out from the group and stared at Magnus, his head tilted.
"Why are you naked?"
"I was... robbed when on my way here"
"By who?"
"I'm not sure"
"I saw the dragon on top of you, did it eat your clothes?"
"No no, it was trying to help me..."
"I've seen Mommy try to help Daddy like that sometimes. I think it's painful, because she makes weird sounds"
"That's... Um... What?"
"What's that light on your chest?"
"I'm not entirely sure."
The father of the child walked over to Magnus and handed him clothes, while the mother whispered something in the child's ear. The child once again spoke.
"Mom says you and your pet can stay with is tonight, as long as you're nice"
Magnus quickly put on the clothes and smiled, bowing thankfully.
"We will be, thank you kindly. Come along Nashyll, we need rest. Come come, don't be shy"
Please play along, I'm sorry to treat you as a pet. Just go with it for now.

'Health hazards never kept you from hanging around me,' she retorted.
It wasn't until he turned to address the crowd that Nashyll finally became aware of all of the eyes looking at them. She immediately crouched, tucked her head in, and wrapped her tail about her. The child's comments were no help either, especially the comment about the kid's parents. Being referred to as a "pet" though... she lifted her head at that and glared at the child. The glare was then turned to Magnus, and she snorted.
'Pet? I'm no pet!'

Yeah, well, my health hasn't really been a concern until now
The man walked slowly alongside the family, hoping that Nashyll would follow without problems. Not knowing where he was or why his powers weren't working, and having his companion just as confused about her current condition, the knight was at the mercy of the kindness of these strangers.
You're not, but they don't know that. And considering you're stuck in dragon form right now, I'd prefer then thinking you are my pet. Apart from the fact that you're as big as a house, look around.
The people around them, although seemingly calm, have off a fearful vibe. Magnus gave those he saw most nervous a smile and an understanding nod, trying to calm their nerves about the giant creature walking with them.
These people have very likely never seen a dragon, or might even have had trouble with one. If you're my pet, them that means I can keep you under control, and they're safe.
Walking up to the child, Magnus rustled his hair, the kid giggling and moving away.
"You'll really like the city, there's a lot of people and they're all really nice! We don't get many visitors here, at least not nice ones like you! The dragon's nice too, right?"
"Of course! You want to ride it?"
"YEAH! Can I mom? Can I, pleaaaaaaaase?!"
The mother looked at Magnus, concerned, a feeling which Magnus understood. He'd seen very destructive dragons before, rarely were they friendly, and even as pets they were feared. Even so, he did his best to smile and help her relax, petting Nashyll down her back softly.
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, just trying to be nice here!
"Don't worry ma'am, she's very gentle and great with children. You won't have to worry about a thing"
With those words, the mother nodded, her fears somewhat lowered. Her eyes did not leave her child as Magnus climbed and sat the child carefully on Nashyll's back, and it wasn't until she heard the giggles of pure joy that the mother relaxed.
Please, PLEASE be nice. I know, I owe you big for this, just roll with it.

'You realize I could just tell them I won't eat them, right?' she said, but followed along for the moment.
It wasn't even really the whole "pet" thing that was bothering her. It was everything. They had just been through battle after battle, at least one of which she had herself to blame for; she had personally split in two only hours before, only to then have one body painfully torn apart - just thinking about it still made her nauseous - and now they were somehow randomly in some unknown city; her heart was stuck in Magnus' chest; she, as was pointed out, didn't know how to shift yet; and apparently everyone was perfectly okay with this!
"You want to ride it?"
The line drew Nashyll's mind back to focus, and Magnus was already putting the child on her back. She resisted the urge to growl and instead cooperated, but assured him coldly, 'I hate you. I am going to rip my heartflame out from your chest personally, and there won't be anything you can do about it.'

Of course you will. Would you mind taking a number? There's quite a line for that.
The child was ecstatic about his ride on the dragon, hooting and hollering, moving a bit too much to stay on the slippery scales of the creature. When he inevitably slid off the side, the knight jumped onto Nashyll's side, bounced off, caught the kid and landed in one smooth move. He tried to hide the pain the little one's weight was causing on his wound, handing him off to his mother with a smile. When they got to the house, Magnus sat down to rest a bit, still holding the site of the injury.
"I think you've had enough fun for today, haven't you? I know I have... I'll just rest here a while. Thank you for this, you've been quite welcoming to this humble stranger and his companion, I promise I'll make it up to you somehow."
The family nodded and went back inside, the child running around the house, trying to find some supplies to bring to Magnus. The knight looked up at Nashyll and sighed, shifting in place to get comfortable.
"You'll have to hunt around for some food, given your current size, I don't think this family will have anything to offer you. Don't worry about me, I'll be fine here, doing my best to not bleed out"
His eyes moved to a sign back over the entrance to the city, one that he hadn't noticed before, being too busy saving the child from a concussion. It was a familiar sign, and at the same time, he was certain he'd never seen this particular sign before.
Welcome to Dasdanus? How did we end up here? And no one recognized me? Have I been gone that long?

'I'm cutting in line. Just you wait.'
At the house, she positioned herself as out of the way as she could, lay down, and pulled her extremities in close. She let out a grumpy snort and tried to gather her thoughts.
'Hunt? Why would I- Oh. Right.' She sighed. 'Maybe I could just eat the townsfolk. I think I could grab a few before they could all run away. I could eat you too, get my heart back where it belongs.'
Not that she'd actually do any of that. In fact, even with the irritation, she felt no desire to harm anyone. Actually, laying there in the sun, she felt rather pleasant, maybe even a bit sleepy. She barely registered that Magnus seemed to recognize something before dozing off.

As Nashyll kept hinting time and again at nefarious intentions, Magnus' mood slowly became more somber, looking at her with a raised eyebrow and serious expression. Even if she was saying it in jest, the fact that they were in Dasdanus made Magnus much more protective about the lives of the people here, and he still didn't fully trust Nashyll. She'd always seemed on the verge of either attacking out of annoyance or simply leaving, and even though she had protected him a few times, these words cast doubt about her true intentions in the knight's mind. Without hesitation, the man stood up and walked to the dragon's side, placing a hand on her head and whispering softly.
"I may seem small and frail to you at the moment, and my powers may be weakened because of this heartflame, but it would be best if you watch your tone. Creatures far more powerful than your current form have fallen to my blade, gods have been silenced, whole armies reduced to ash. Even Delacroix himself, with all his boasting and bravado, tenses up at the mere mention of my name. You may have been my travelling companion for a while now, but do not delude yourself. Should you have any ill intent towards me or the good people of this city, I will not hesitate to end you, swiftly and without remorse... Do NOT test me"
Shortly after, the child came back with bandages, salves and a few pieces of fruit in a basket. Placing it on the ground near the two, the child giggled and ran back into his house, getting a smile out of Magnus and improving his mood slightly. After applying some of the salve on his wound, the man bandaged himself up and grabbed one of the apples from the basket, taking a quick bite from it before dropping it in his pocket.
"I'm heading out to explore the city, I shouldn't be long. I'll leave it up to you if you choose to hunt or sleep, but I do recommend you get something to eat before it gets dark. This city is famous for its night hunters, and having gone out on hunts with them before, I'd advise you to not cross their path"

Nashyll stirred just a little at the touch, but gave no response to it or to Magnus' words. In her mind though, despite how sleepy she was, there was a jolt at his warning.
How many times had she protected him and complete strangers? How careful had she always been with him, and how much had she done purely for his comfort? More than once she had nearly even killed herself to protect him and others from herself! Only a little earlier, she'd sent one of her strange duplicate bodies to be shredded as a diversion, not knowing if this one would survive, only to find that the idiot had run right back into danger! And now he threatened her over a joke?
He didn't know better by now?
'Fine. I will stay long enough to get my heart back, and I'll never trouble you or these people again.' As she told him, she did not bother to hide the hurt she felt any more than she bothered to move from her cozy, sunny spot.

The man paid no heed to the dragon's words, instead being distracted by the familiarity of this place. Certainly, Dasdanus had been the only city that Magnus had ever called home, the one place that had embraced his heroic persona. The knight walked through the streets where parades had been held in his honor, finding them full of people who knew nothing of him. He observed the fortified walls of the homes, once home to beautiful portraits of his exploits, now covered in the portraits of knights and landscapes. He went to the square where a statue in his honor once stood, among other great people who'd served King Dasdanus IV, but his monument was nowhere to be found. It was as if the city had been wiped of his memory entirely, its people unaware of his presence, and yet he remembered.
Even stranger was the fact that even the marks of his presence that he'd thought indelible had disappeared. Big Bear Beringer, the Beast of Dasdanus, walked by without recognizing him. Even stranger, the scar on his chest, inflicted by Magnus with his sword while he battled the man possessed, was gone. Even more than that, it seemed as if there had never been a scar at all!
The home he'd built for Nico Schweppes, visible from the city market, wasn't there. In it's place there was a shop he'd never seen before, with a person he didn't recognize, selling mundane trinkets that made children smile. The knight felt a pang deep in his stomach, a sick feeling he couldn't shake. The man sat down beside a fruit merchant, his head fallen, his eyes blank and lifeless.
"My home... This was my home... Wasn't it? Maybe the king can explain"
Shaking off the horrible dread that slowly fell upon him, Magnus got back to his feet and began heading towards the castle, intent on finding out what exactly had happened.

Nashyll dozed, and was eventually swallowed by dreams - real dreams, as she could no longer remember having experienced before. She drifted through it until she eventually opened a door to a familiar place, one her mind knew so well that she had arrived without even intending to. It was the tavern part of an in, with a cheerful fire off at one end, and her mother staring at her with an expression she couldn't quite identify. Confusion? Concern? Surprise?
Nashyll waved, and Novalyyn waved back. Aside from a forced smile, the older woman's expression didn't change. As Nashyll came more to her senses, she decided she should probably update her mother on recent... events. Some of them, anyway.
"Hi, mom," she said, a bit nervously as she walked over. "So, uh... I'm guessing you can tell something's different?"
Novalyyn nodded and leaned against the bar across from where Nashyll seated herself. "You... seem well though. What happened?"
"It's... kind of a long story. I don't feel like explaining it all, but, um... I was split. Your side from dad's, and the body that was dad's side is... gone."
She cringed slightly, waiting for the barrage of questions and worried indignation. Instead, Novalyyn remained silent, considering. When she did finally speak up, she asked simply, "And how did you get where you are?"
Nashyll blinked, stared at the wood a moment, then shook her head. "I don't really know. It just sort of happened." She looked back to her mother curiously. "Since when can you tell specific locations from here? And why would it matter?"
"Since you changed realities."
Nashyll stared at her mother, dumbfounded. "...What?"

Arriving at the castle gates, Magnus admired the huge structure, built from white stone that shimmered in the sunlight. As with most things in the city, the castle looked vastly different from how Magnus remembered it, specifically in its defenses. The fortifications he had helped build after Rathnos' attempted invasion were missing, as were the special crystal beam cannons that D'Argento had placed in the walls at his suggestion. This again showed that, whatever had happened, it was specifically Magnus' influence that had been erased, and nothing more.
"State your business or move, citizen"
The gruff voice of the castle knight woke Magnus from deep thought, catching him off guard for a second. Regaining his bearings and smiling, the warrior bowed, trying to be as courteous and non-threatening as possible.
"My name is Magnus Gallant, and I am here to request an audience with King Dasdanus. I have some questions pertaining the city that I'd like answered."
"If information about the city is what you need, there are others in the city who can provide it."
"I must meet with Dasdanus, it is of dire importance. What I seek cannot be provided by anyone else."
The knights stared at Magnus for the longest time, making him feel a tad uncomfortable, shuffling a bit in place. After a while, they moved aside and gestured for him to enter.
"Come with us, but be warned: take one step out of place, and you'll be thrown in the dungeon"
"Of course, I would expect nothing less. I shall behave, don't worry"

"Well if I'm in another reality, teach me how to get back!"
"Nashyll, it's not that easy!"
What had started out as just an awkward update now had Nashyll pacing about while her mother squeezed the life out of a washrag.
"Why not?" the younger woman demanded. "You know how to do it. I know you've hopped realities plenty of times! You can't just keep clinging-"
"It's not just that!" Novalyyn shouted, punching the counter. "No, of course I don't want you to go hopping around. I do want to be able to send you help when you need it. But it's also not that easy!"
Nashyll opened her mouth to argue back, but Novalyyn kept going.
"You can't just pick where and when you want to go! Even as long as I'd done it, I never got much control. It is difficult, it is exhausting, and it is dangerous. There were times that I was lucky to escape, and I can't put you through that!"
"Look how things have turned out every time you've tried to protect me, mom!"
Perhaps that one was too nasty of a bite.
