Matthieu Vega (played by f0x1nth3b0x) Topic Starter

The room went lopsided and doubled before Matt’s perception slipped from him and he hit the ground hard. Ravik was stunned into silence, his ears flat on the back of his head. His chocolate eyes rested on who he thought was an ally but had now declared herself partnered with the mortal enemy. The jackal tried to get to his paws, but his leg injury proved too much. He was forced to stay seated while he remembered to level the gun back to Aramhan.

“You’re going to come willingly then? Well that takes the fun out of it.” The madman was presumably frowning, the blinding light around him made it hard to discern his features. With that, he dropped Lark like an old rag and his tendrils found purchase around Aceloqua’s wrists. “Unfortunately for you, I do not play well with others; despite your willingness.”

He pulled her wrists then, almost hard enough to snap her frail bones. Aceloqua was forced to let go of Julien and Aramhan easily lifted the tool with a blue protrusion. “Now with this, my wretched bird, you shall bring me to the Orb.”

Lark was a heap on the ground, sputtering to catch her stolen breath, plumes of bruising forming on her throat. The jackal’s eyes laid on her momentarily, then went back to Aramhan. The man seemed to have forgotten that Ravik existed now that he was getting his way and the dog man took that as his chance. Whilethe blue armed man was talking to Aceloqua, something crude that Ravik did not want to listen to, he powered up the laser on his gun. It took a few moments to get ready and Ravik prayed he had long enough to pull off the plan he had concocted.

“And now for the last piece.” Aceloqua was being held captive by the entirety of Aramhan’s blue tentacles; she was struggling and cursing like a wild thing. She was paid no mind so long as she was caught and with his free hand, the enemy bent to pull Matt’s lifeless form to himself. Unfortunately for him, he had grabbed the wrong part.

As soon as Aramhan’s skin touched Matt’s exposed bone, the madman could feel a strange sensation burst from his fingertips to his shoulder and then continue to travels along the lines of his veins. He tried to snatch his hand back but the peculiar phenomena held him in thrall. His mana light began to flicker imperceptibly at first, but the longer he was stuck, the more apparent it became that his magic was weakening. Matt’s body twitched as if struck with unseen electricity and Aceloqua’s bond began to dim and in some spots became ethereal and intangible.

Ravik saw his chance. He got to his paws and moved as far as they could carry him before giving out. The dog man found himself next to Lark, the reaper having just regained her senses near Aramhan’s feet. She was pawing at the ground as if looking for something when Ravik leaned against her and began to speak quickly.

“Hold onto me.” The Reaper was hesitant; she didn’t know this being and after recent events had no idea if she should trust him. “Hold on if you want to make it out of here!” The jackal was whispering harshly through a clenched jaw as he watched his friend go through… well, whatever was happening to him. Lark found the thing she had been groping for and with the reassurance that she was not going to leave it behind, laced a hand around Ravik’s bicep. The dog man took the cue and fired the weapon. At such a close range, the laser beam struck Aramhan with enough force to throw him off Matt, who’s eyes and arm were glowing blue. Ravik dropped the gun and grabbed his friend’s flesh arm, searching for the porter on his wrist. It took precious moments to configure and Aramhan was already steadying himself; his mana having come back in full.

“Come one, come one,” Ravik muttered as his mania lashed out in full force. Waves of blue struck at the walls and pools and soon the place was being ripped a part from the inside from the man’s anger. The teleporter was not working fast enough, Ravik was going to have to fight this creature off again and the thought mad his stomach drop. He reached for the gun, pulled the unconscious human onto his lap, but a hand on his shoulder stopped him.

“I will get us out.” Lark was already swinging her recovered scythe into the rock of the floor. She slashed an opening in time and space and pushed both men into it with her and managed to close it before the lashing tentacles reached them. The three being tumbled through the vortex in a confusion of limbs and weapons.

The portal spat them out into a strange land. It was dark, perhaps night time where the were and the sounds of the night air were a grand contrast to the once chaotic commotion they had just escaped from. Lark clutched at the bruises on her skin and adjusted her glasses nervously, her antennae twitching this way and that to take in the surroundings. Her hands shook with nerves and she fumbled with the handle of her scythe before mumbling nonsense to herself. "Ohh...this is baud. This is really bad!"

Ravik and Matthieu looked on as the new reaper paced back and forth in nervous canters. Matt felt as if his head was split in two, and even saw stars now that he was out of immediate danger. His vision was hazy and hazed in and out of being blurry and double. Allie had really hit him hard with her weapon and his heart felt as if it would break.

As Matthieu collected himself on what appeared to be a forest ground, the dog man regarded the panicked reaper before them. "Miss? --ahh" His leg hurt horribly as he took a step towards her, his calf still not entirely healed.

"That monster said he was going to become the god of Chaos!" Lark cried as she turned towards the who men. Her entire body was quivering with fear and she clutched her scythe to keep herself from falling over. "He-he kept going on about some orb of destruction and-and-and something about harnessing the power of death to feed his power." Her great black eyes were swelling with tears and terror and before the two knew it she was inconsolable with emotions. The reaper cried and whaled and kept going on about the horrible thing Arahman said he would do to her as a hostage. Anything to get what he wanted. Anything to the harpy.

Matt rubbed his aching head and slowly stood up, though only temporarily because a wave of dizziness overtook him and he was back on the ground in moments. This information he was hearing from Lark set a flood of fear through his gut and it was clear Ravik felt the same as his ears were plastered to his canine head.

"Miss." Ravik finally continued as he placed both his hands on the shaken reaper's shoulders. "Please, can you tell us your name?"

"L-Lark..."

"Lark, thank you for your assistance back there. It if weren't for you I don't think we would be here to introduce ourselves. My name is Ravik and my friend over there is Matthieu. We have been on the run from the Arahman for quite some time now. Please. If you could tell us all you know..."

"First tell us where we are! Can Arahman find us here??" Matthieu was hunched over regarding the both of them with bloodshot eyes from the head trauma sustained before.

"No" Lark spoke in a quiet tone, having calmed down some, though she was still crying. "At least I don't think so. I opened a portal to reaper training ground. A-as far as I know the plane of existence is unknown to anyone that's not a reaper." Though as soon as the words were spoken Lark's heart sank. "Allie..."

"Can she find us here?" The dog man questioned.

"It's hard to say. There are endless rhelmes to travel to...the likelihood of her finding this exact spot is low." She wiped her eyes with the back of her hand and let out a sign of relief.

Ravik seemed to be happy to hear this and nodded his head in a mental agreement with himself. "Then we shall make camp for the night."

The three of them traveled a short ways towards the strange forest that surrounded them. The trees were not trees yet they swayed with the winds that traveled the night air. Ravik had produced and expandable tent from his many belts and supplies and the three moved inside the temporary shelter for warmth. Inside, a few slow burning candles were lit and Lark told them everything she could. About how Arahman planned to use the orb and the power of death to become a god of chaos and distraction. How Allie was not one, but two souls inhabiting the same body. The one that Matt knew as Alacoque was kind, yet tragic. While her twin was cold and violent. It frightened Lark that Aceloqua had offered herself over to Arahman willingly. She may not have been a friend of that half but Allie was still attached to the same body that was now in Arahman's possession.

"If Arahman finds the orb before we do there is no telling what the consequences for this reality will be." Ravik's tone was grave.

"I'll help you." Lark offered in a shaky voice. "If not for the fate chaos but for my friend."
