i'd like ideas for a guy who is

Perhaps the secret of this guy, lies in the reason he hides his face?
Like Mimikyu (from Pokemon), if someone looks at his face, it'll curse them.

It could be a curse of death, or something a bit less, well..deadly!

I imagine that a veil or a hooded cloak of some kind could help hide his face, or a really big, floppy hat!

Maybe this person hides their face because they aren't human? For example, they some small feature like stumpy little goat horns or a forked tongue which can be hidden by a veil. Or if you prefer, they could look truly non-human, and they need to thoroughly hide their face.

Since there's no set genre, I could imagine this person hides their face because some sort of hidden magic/genes were unlocked. (Either their parents lied about their heritage or it had been dormant till then.) But the character doesn't/can't embrace the change, so instead of being their authentic self. They use a veil/hood/whatever gets the job done, to hide the new features. In hopes of being able to continue their current life.

Playing off this, what if instead of a curse, the mysterious person hides his face because he's actually the void or something beyond mortal comprehension? Looking at his face or eyes could cause mortals to go mad as a result because they see this void, their fate, knowledge beyond reason, or something else.

He could also hide his face because it is just well known. He is the last scion of the kings family that had been slaughtered a fateful night, and if it was known that he was still alive, the current king would hunt him down to make sure no one with any claim to the throne is still alive.
Or he himself could've been a tyrant, who had been overthrown, and no lives in hiding in the empire he once ruled.
Or he just is a celebrity/former celebrated hero that wants to be left alone.
