Hi all! I have permission to post this, so don't worry about that!
I started both a goal on ko-fi and a gofundme in order for my friends, family, and anyone else who would like to, to help support me in getting a cat for emotional support.
My plan is to adopt a cat by mid January depending on how money adds up and when I can get in to visit some kitties!

Ko-Fi: https://ko-fi.com/daestorm/goal?g=7
(Items bought from my shop will also support this goal. )
I'm able to adjust the ko-fi goal to include what is given on gofundme. If I am given more than the goal of $500, the extra money will go in savings toward cat emergencies.
This will be my very first cat, and my very first pet that is my own. I had a goldfish as a kid, and helped take care of my family dog as a teenager, but my family never had a cat.
However, I've always been incredibly connected to cats. They're my favorite animal (tied with tortoises) and they seem to connect with me just as much as I do them. I'm often the person who goes to someone's house and their cats warm up to me very quickly. Even cats that usually hide from visitors have wound up sitting on my lap! I have stayed in houses with cats for a few weeks at a time in the past, and I always find that they bring me a lot of peace and comfort, as well as motivation. I have AuDHD so, motivation can be difficult sometimes. However, when it involves more than just me, and involves someone else, I am able to bust through my executive dysfunction quickly.
I'm also disabled and struggle with depression and anxiety my entire life. I say this not to garner pity, but just to be completely transparent and honest.
With certain things going on in my life and the world right now and for the foreseeable future, an emotional support companion is something that I (and my therapist) believe would be really good for me.
I've done a lot of research over the last year especially, but really over several years, and I know exactly what I want. A young or adult cat, (over 1 year, under 4 years) that is a domestic short hair, no gender preference, from a local rescue/shelter, already spayed/neutered and vaccinated.
I do have some cats in mind that I have bookmarked and favorited and checked out the pages of several times over the last couple months. My very top "contender" is
Twilight! She's a cutie, and her name is one of my favorite things ever. IYKYK.
I know exactly what I need for this new cat, and will be getting all of the things leading up to adopting and getting a room set up as the "main room" while introducing the cat to the house.
The total amount I plan on spending is $700. $200 of that is coming from myself, and will primarily cover some of the essential items required. (I've also gotten some donations of items as well.)
So I've made a goal of $500 to cover more cat items, the adoption fee, and first vet visit.
Some people prefer to give via ko-fi and others gofundme. Which is why I've created both.

I don't have much to spare, but I slid a fiver your way on Ko-fi.

Thank you so much friend!
A cat has officially chosen me!
This is Georgie. He was being bullied terribly by his former owners other cats, to the point where he wouldn't come out of hiding even to eat. He's very nervous and shy, but as you can see here in the videos, he's such a sweet baby.
He's 7 years old and just needs some peace and quiet and love. He melted my heart the second I saw him, but meeting him was even better.
I'll be fostering him for three weeks to a month before finalizing the adoption.
Any amount of support will help me get Georgie nice and comfy in his forever home.
I love him so much already!!!
