thank you all so much for your concern about me! thank you so much for being there and checking on me and making sure I'm okay!

i would like to update you all on everything:

• the war is over, however the country is very unstable currently
• bashar al-assad fled from syria to russia today and gave up the title of president. to those who don't know, he's the dictatorial (is that the right word?) president of the past 24 years.
• political prisoners (aka citizens who got imprisoned due to political views against bashar al-assad) are being freed
• syria's official flag and anthem have changed to the rebellion's own versions
• the entire government is going to be changed all over again (some past people in power are returning, thankfully the not-so-great ones are leaving!)
• some classes (nationalism and possibly french) are likely going to be removed from the syrian curriculum (nationalism due to idolizing of bashar al-assad, and french because it's only being taught due to the colonization of france to syria from 1920 to 1946)

of course, im going to be here to answer any further questions you guys have!
congratulations, we have all lived history
POWER TO THE PEOPLE!
Congratulations!

Stay safe! <3
Thank-you for the update Anya. It’s good to know you and your family are safe. I have been keeping up on the news. I hope the new government keeps to protecting minorities as they mentioned.

I was aware of the French influence after WWI since it affected family members and their second language was French taught at school after Arabic. It influenced the areas many immigrated to after the first wave left Syria and Lebanon in the 1920s, and then again in the 60s and 70s from Egypt.
Thank you for the update Anya. Glad you're safe and well.
Hoping the new government works out for Syria.
That's good that you are well, Anya. I'm glad you are safe and sound.

Huh, I thought Al-Assad would still be around but I guess I live too much under a rock since now he's leaving. Interesting change of events. I hope the new government being installed will be competent and help Syria thrive.

Regardless, I hope this wind of change will bring about some good to your war-torn country. Your country is beautiful and has a rich history of Palmyrene, Roman, and Arabic cultural traditions in it. I hope it will not be wasted.

Live well yourself as well, and don't let the instability bring you down. Good luck. Hope everything works out in the end!
