When she got to him, it was obvious he was asleep, by the fact he was breathing. Vlad slept in peace until Luisas voice reached his dreams, and his eyes slowly fluttered open. His sleepy eyes made there way to Luisa, looking up at her with a small yawn.
Luisa smiled down at him, and waved. "Hi. Did you stay here all night?" She asked curiously, looking around for any sign of his parents.
Vlad continued to lay there on the ground, taking a moment to try to wake up fully. "I couldn't find him" he said sleepily, probably still half asleep.
"Oh." She crouched down to his level. "Want me to help you look for him?" She offered kindly.
He looked up at Luisa from where he lie, "he's nowhere around" he said. Signaling he had looked, he had tried to find him, but failed.
"Okay..." She sighed a little and sat down. "What do you wanna do then?" She asked, looking down at him. It felt weird to her to be up higher than him. Normally, she looked up at everyone.
Vlad sat up, now that he was awake. He looked at her face, seeing the bruises, he reached out and lightly touched a bruise. Ignoring the question, he asked "why are you all bruised up?"
She pulled back when he touched her bruises. "I fell." She lied. "Down the stairs. It was dark and I fell." She avoided his gaze, embarrassed. "I'm fine really. It's not a big deal. Bruises go away."
He pulled his fingers away from the bruise when she pulled back. He looked down, "that must have hurt.." he said believing the lie, not knowing any better to believe it. He looked at her, "not a big deal?" He asked, with a tone like he thought it was.
She managed a small smile. "I'll be okay. I'm used to it. I fall a lot." She continued to lie, because that's what she'd always done. Why did she protect her father? Because she loved him, good father or not, she loved him. That was the curse of being a child, no matter who your parent is, you are loyal to them. And because of this loyalty, she lied, even to her new friend.
Vlad looked up a moment before looking back at Luisa. "There will be no falling on my watch" he said his chin up confidentally, Determined that he would let his new friend fall and get hurt more than she already was. He believed her little lies.
Someday, Vlad would probably see through the lies, but for now, he was blissfully unaware and Luisa was okay with that. She smiled a little at him. "Okay. I'm counting on you."
He made that hand signal Soldiers do when they salute a general/commander. "Okay" he said gladly. He would keep her from falling and getting cuts or bruises. The cut on his cheek still there from yesterday, the blood dried over it, making it all the more noticeable.
She smiled. "I'll try to help you not get anymore injuries, too." She said softly. With that, she got up and said. "What do you want to do?"
He put his hand down, and stood up, and looked towards the merry-go-round. For some reason that was his favorite thing on the playground, and it was obvious his eyes were focused on that alone.
She smiled. "Want me to spin you on it this time?" She ask cheerfully, eager to have some fun.
He looked t her, "that sounds fun" he said eagerly. "We could take turns!" He declared his idea.
"okay!" She walked over to the Merry-Go-Round. "Get on and I'll spin you!"
He followed her to the merry-go-round, eagerness floating all around him on the inside. He was excited. Once they were at the Merry-Go-Round, he climbed on.
"Ready?" She asked. And when he was ready, she started pulling it around and around, running as fast she she could go. It was kind of fun to run like that, and she laughed and smiled as she did.
