"As many as our treasure will buy us- but don't forget there's many other candies to try" he said, and took her hand placing the four pixie sticks in her hand, and closed it, and moved his hands away.
She clutched the pixie sticks for a moment, smiling, delighted with her gift from her friend. "Thank you." She said softly. "I hope we're friends forever." The girl declared, excitedly smiling at her friend. Then, she looked around at the candies, curious what the other ones were like.
Vlsd smiled a little, then noticed she was looking at the other candies. "Pick one, and we might can get it..."
Luisa looked at all the candies curiously, holding tight to her pixie sticks. "Hmm... Which ones are good?" She asked curiously
"I've never tried a candy I didn't like.." Vlad said. Guess the chances were low that any of them were gross.
"Okay." She looked at all the candies, wondering what she should pick. If she could tell time, she'd know that it was starting to get into the afternoon... and sometimes her father came looking for her earlier than others.
Vlad waited patiently for her to pick. He was in no hurry..
Luisa pointed at at a colorful candy that looked good to her. It was Gumdrops. "What about this?" She asked Vlad, hoping she could get at least one.
"25¢, each" the man behind the counter said. Vlad dumped some of the silver coins, and a few arcade tokens on the counter...only equalling 56¢ in non-token money. The man handed Luisa the candy she wanted, and handed Vlad the arcade tokens and 6¢ back.
Luisa smiled and held the candy in her hands. "Thank you!" She smiled up at the man and then at Vlad. She then opened the small bag and popped one gumdrop in her mouth.
Most candy would be more expensive than it was here, but this palace rarely had a customer so the candy was cheaply priced, and somehow it wasent more popular.
The man smiled back at her, "your welcome" he said. Vlad ate one of his pixie sticks.

Luisa happily at the gumdrops, smiling. After she finished those, she set about eating one of the pixie sticks. By the end of it, she was a little hyper and slightly nauseous from eating too much sugar at once. "What do you wanna do now?" She asked Vlad.
"I got nothing" Vlad said for once as he ate another pixie stick- like, the eigth one, and he was slightly shaking from hyperness,
"Want to go outside?" She asked, eager to go outside and possibly run around. The girl was so excited, that she didn't notice the shadow of a silhouette that passed the window.
"S-ssure" he said hyperly. He stood up, picked up their treasure and the pixie sticks, and walked to the door, and outside.
Luisa followed him, but stopped short when she saw her dad standing outside the door. "Oh." She dropped the pixie sticks from her hand in her surprise and fear.
"Time to go home." Her father slurred, before grabbing her arm and dragging her along.
She looked back at Vlad. "Bye, Vlad!" She called, waving sadly.
Luisa and Vlad would not meet again for quite a few years. Not til they were much older.

Vlad saw the man, Luisas dad, again. "Bye.." he said quietly and sadly, waving goodbye. Why did grownups always have to ruin the fun..
Years had passed since Vlad saw his first true friend, he believed she was long gone. Within years time Vlad had some things happen, but he still had not forgot about his friend...but did lose hope in them ever meeting again.
Many, Many, Many, years later

The years wore on for Luisa... when she was 8, she'd been removed from her father's home for a time. Only to be returned when she was 11, and removed again when she was 12. The girl never forgot her first and only friend, but she never did see him again.
At 16, she was living in yet another foster home, but this one was close to the place where she'd once met her friend. While she doubted that anyone still used the park, as it had fallen into a level of disuse and disrepair, she decided it was worth the venture.
One evening, she slipped out of the foster home and walked to the park, looking around in the light of the sunset. A soft sigh escaped her. This had been her sanctuary as a child... until her father got worse.

Many depressing things had happened to Vlad as well. When he was about 9 and his little brother was 9 to they're Grandfather died of an unknown illness. He died right infront of Vlad as he tried to take care of him, since nobody else in their family was within a 2000 mile radius, besides his little brother, and as the eldest brother, he had to try to work the hardest. By the age of 11 he and his brother lived on the streets, and would roam free. They would eat what they could- which usually something out if the woods (berries, fruits, meat, etc) and the man at the candy store gave them candy until it had to close due to not making enough money. It seemed the world hated him. When Vlad turned 14 his little brother died of a sickness, just like their grandfather had. Leaving Vladimir alone, and soon he was sent to an orphanage.
It had been a normal night, and Vlad felt like his life could be over. Everything had escalated downhill at a rapid pace. A demon had appeared before him, and just stood there. It had startled Vlad slightly- even if he had never been one to he high on religious views or believed in demons. It had told him that it could help him, make things the way the once were...happier. It had lied to him. Vlad made a contract with that demon, and it possessed him. It received Vlads old memories, and it chuckled. Never trust your inner demons kid, it thought. The demon named Vladimir Zen.
As time progressed Vlad ended up being a murderer in a way, but slowly decided to take a break on it. He decided to visit his old hometown, though he doubted his old friend would be there.
One day not long after he made his decession to visit his hometown. He walked along the sidewalk, looking around, memories.
Vlad being the age of 15 and 1/2

The park was silent... it was sort of chilling. She stood still, staring at the Merry-Go-Round, for a moment reliving the memories of her childhood. Vladimir had been the only bright spot in her dark past. And now, even that seemed to be fading.
What was the point of being here?
With a cry of irritation and anger, she kicked the Merry-Go-Round, and watched it spin around slightly. "Stupid." She muttered, before turning her back on it.
For a moment, she wondered if their treasure was still there... but it probably wasn't. She didn't bother to look.
After a few minutes more, she sat on the bottom of the slide and just glared at the empty park, hating the memories that it held. Taunting her. Mocking her. Reminding her of the life she might have had. But it was too late now. She'd grown up, and she'd never be able to go back.
"Pointless." The girl stood up, and turned to walk back to her foster home, not wanting to linger anymore.
