"Vladimir, but most people call me Vlad" he said. He glarred at her out of the corner of is due, almost as if time had stopped. "My friends name was Luisa..." he said.
Luisa just stood there, stunned. "Vladimir... that was my friend's name." She said softly, staring at him. "Is it really you?" She asked, uncertain whether to hug him or run away or just stand there. It was like seeing a ghost.
Vlad nodded. He smiled faintly, "hows it going, friend?" He asked. He tried to act like he was still the same not she once knew.
"Going alright... my life is a bit better now that I don't live with my dad." She said, studying him quietly. "You... changed a lot. But, I guess I did, too."
Vlad nodded in acknowledgement.
"A lot can change in over 10 years" Vlad said and looked down. "Both looks..and stuff"
"A lot can change in over 10 years" Vlad said and looked down. "Both looks..and stuff"
Luisa stepped into the room carefully, hesitant to approach her former friend. "Yeah..." She nodded, agreeing quietly. "Are we... still friends?" She asked, sort of hopeful that they could be friends, but also uncertain.
Despite how much he had changed, and how differently he may act, making a friend was on the sort list of good things to happen in his life. He looked at her, "yeah" he said. "We're still friends" he concluded.
A small and shy smile formed on her lips. "Okay." Hesitating, she moved a little closer, not wanting to get into his personal space. "Want me to leave you alone? Or... do you want to find something fun to do?"
"Not much 'fun' to have around here. Especially when I'm the so called 'weird' one around here" Vlad said bitterly. "Though, could we catch up? What have you been doing for 10 years??"
Luisa stood still, thinking. "I'll have fun with you... since you're my friend." She offered. "Okay." After a moment of collecting her thoughts, she spoke. "Well... In between being bounced between my dad and different orphanages... and trying to not die." She laughed awkwardly. "I've just been trying to get some schooling... and trying to figure out what to do with my life... aside from the options that most people think I have."
Vlad listened intentivly to her story. Her life could've been worse, but it seems like she was rebuilding it brick by brick. "At least your getting somewhere with your life-" he said. He had eternity to plan his life though.
Luisa sighed a little. "Yeah... I suppose... I just don't want to be like my dad... living in a dumpy place and stuck in a dead end job... miserable..." She sat down on the floor. "That would suck..." Then, she looked at her friend. "What about you? What are your plans for life?"
"It sounds like it would suck.." Vlad agreed. He looked down at her from his bed, "well.." he said and rubbed the back of his head lightly, "I guess go to school' get a job, and try to survive my life" he said, leaving out plenty of detail.
Luisa looked up at him, thinking quietly. "Yeah... most people have that kind of goal." She said. "What do you think you want to be when you grow up? Like... a doctor? Or a lawyer? Or a soldier?" Her blue-green eyes studied him with a level of curiosity and interest.
Vlad looked away from her, "I haven't really thought about that-" he said. He was a murderer but no way in Hell was he telling her that.
Luisa leaned back against the door frame, thinking. "Sometimes... I wonder what it's like to be a crime boss... to run from the law and make big money. It might be fun." She said, then shrugged. "But I dunno, it's just me wondering."
Vlad looked at her, then looked at the ceiling, and rested his back against the wall. "In 10 years I've done some pretty regretful things. Crime isn't all its cut out to be" he said.
She shrugged again. "I suppose. Sometimes I wonder what goes through someone's mind when they do those kinds of things..." With a sigh, she shifted a little. "But, I guess I'll never know, huh?" The sound of footsteps in the hall made her turn her head slightly.
"I guess they're just mental, or mean" Vlad said, then looked towards the doorway hearing the footsteps.
"Maybe." Luisa said quietly, listening to the footsteps pause near the door. She glimpsed someone in the hallway, but they moved in the shadows, hiding. Then, they ran off down the hallway.
