Huh... Early in the library, there's an estimate that the ROE was traveling for 5 years, but the dates (that I'm not bothering to check fancy space math on) in the ship's records imply the ship was traveling for at least 15 years. Captain's first entry is dated what I assume is Year 7595 and is an apology for taking so long to start the log, and the log about us helping them is dated as 7610.

Does this have something to do with the different date systems used?

There's definitely different date systems in use, and there's also info in there about the length of days and years and stuff on the Scut'el homeworld, but as mentioned... I didn't bother doing the space math.
