I want to give my characters pictures you know like the little Gray Box with the big ? in it how do I take normal sized pictures and make them the right sizes for that little Box every time I try to up lode a pick it says it's to big

For that you're going to have to use an art program (MS Paint*, Photoshop, Gimp, SAI, &c) to resize or edit the image to be 95 pixels by 95 pixels (the size of the icon box).

Alternatively you can snag a friend or ask someone around here to do that for you, if you aren't quite artistically inclined.

*Side note: yes you can resize images to be 95x95 in Paint, but it's a wee bit of a painstaking process of adjusting the image and the canvas in the program pixel by dang pixel.

I recommend using "Custom Size" in step 2, and save as PNG in step 4. As Copper said, 95x95 pixels is the best!
