He reached into his jacket for something—a small medical kit he always kept on hand—and quickly worked to apply a numbing ointment around her shoulder, hoping it would help dull the pain.

He tightened the cap back onto the ointment container and shoved it back into his pocket. “I care about my squad surviving. I care about making sure you don’t get yourself killed because of some damn reckless sense of pride.” He stood up straight and crossed his arms, his usual cold glare fixated on her. “But if you want me to act like some sentimental idiot, you’re out of luck.”
He noticed her staring at him and narrowed his eyes. “What the hell are you looking at?” he asked gruffly, before shaking his head. “Never mind. Just sit there until the pain dies down. And next time, don’t wait until you’re screaming in agony before asking for help.”

Levi’s eyes narrowed when she mentioned Hange, clearly annoyed by the idea of them sharing anything personal. His posture stiffened slightly, but he didn’t say anything at first. When she mentioned Isabel and Farlan, his jaw tightened, and his expression turned cold.
