He tightened the cap back onto the ointment container and shoved it back into his pocket. “I care about my squad surviving. I care about making sure you don’t get yourself killed because of some damn reckless sense of pride.” He stood up straight and crossed his arms, his usual cold glare fixated on her. “But if you want me to act like some sentimental idiot, you’re out of luck.”
He noticed her staring at him and narrowed his eyes. “What the hell are you looking at?” he asked gruffly, before shaking his head. “Never mind. Just sit there until the pain dies down. And next time, don’t wait until you’re screaming in agony before asking for help.”
With that, he turned away, but he lingered just a second longer than he normally would’ve—maybe, just maybe, he wasn’t as indifferent as he wanted people to believe. Levi exhaled sharply, eyeing her arm with his usual deadpan expression. “If it doesn’t get better soon, I’ll just cut the damn thing off,” he muttered flatly.

She nodded. Since they seemed to be alone, it got her thinking. Should she bring up Isabel and Farlan? She was concerned that what if he never opens up about it. She looked at him then looked back down thinking
She gulped and sighed " Levi...." She said " about me expressing what I was feeling. About wht I said about my family..." She took a breath " Hange told me about...." She sighed " Hange told me about Isabel and Farlan...." She said, going quiet after a little. She cared about Levi. She knew how he felt. What he is feeling

Levi’s eyes narrowed when she mentioned Hange, clearly annoyed by the idea of them sharing anything personal. His posture stiffened slightly, but he didn’t say anything at first. When she mentioned Isabel and Farlan, his jaw tightened, and his expression turned cold.
He looked at her, his voice low and gravelly. "Hange... should know better than to talk about them," he muttered under his breath, though it wasn’t a direct attack on her. It was just his frustration seeping through.
After a long silence, Levi sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose as if trying to push back his emotions. "Isabel and Farlan... they were like family to me," he began, his voice quieter, though still edged with that familiar bitterness. "We weren’t blood-related, but we shared the same damn struggles. We fought side by side, trusted each other like family. Losing them... it was like losing part of myself. And even now, I can’t shake the feeling that I should’ve done more to protect them."
He paused, eyes hardening, but there was a flicker of pain in them—quick and fleeting. "They were the closest thing I had to real family. So yeah, I’m not good at talking about them. I don’t need anyone’s pity or sympathy."
Levi crossed his arms, looking away as he tried to mask the vulnerability that crept through. "But I get it. I know what it’s like to lose people... and I guess I’m not exactly open about it. You can’t let yourself get soft. Not in this world."
There was a long silence between them, Levi clearly reluctant to say anything more. "If you really want to help, just focus on your training and don’t worry about me. I’m fine."

She chuckled " You are just like my dad " She said " But in a good way of course " She sighed and looked down and gulped again. She sat there for a moment and thought " Sometimes I like to think that just maybe...There is a not so stubborn, hard-headed person inside. Someone who thinks of one of their peers as something more than just a peer. More than a crew mate "
She chuckled " Hange seems to agree with me " She said " Don't think maybe, instead of being Hard-headed and Stubborn, you could loosen up a bit? You know, be the person you at least used to be when Isabel and Farlan was around? " She said
" I know it's hard but...." She said. She stood up " But what if you got to see them one last time? " She said " They would want you to. They would want you to move on " She explained " It's not easy but it's time to trust someone. Especially someone who has been there " She said
" There was a reason I asked about that photo of that guy " She said " That was my father " She told him. She started walking away " I'm going to go rest now " She told him " Think about what I said, Levi " She told him and left the room, holding her arm

Levi stood there, his arms crossed tightly over his chest, staring at her retreating form. His jaw clenched, and he remained silent for a long moment, his thoughts swirling in his head.
Her words stung more than he cared to admit, and for a fleeting second, he allowed himself to consider the idea that she might be right. The idea that he could loosen up, open up—allowing others in, even if just a little, was not something he had ever allowed himself to entertain for long. He wasn’t sure how to handle those thoughts, and the suggestion that he could be more than just a stoic captain, that he could be more to others, unsettled him.
As she left, he didn’t say anything more. His usual scowl deepened, but deep down, he was thinking about her words, her father, and how she seemed to understand him in a way few people ever had.
"Dammit..." he muttered under his breath, but it was unclear whether it was frustration with her or frustration with himself.
He turned away, pushing the thought of Isabel and Farlan back to the recesses of his mind, but her words lingered, echoing in his head.
Maybe there was a reason to move on. Maybe. Levi
stepped into Hange’s office.

Hange looked up from their papers when Levi walked into the room, a knowing smile crossing their face as they saw the serious look on his. "Back so soon, Captain?" they asked, leaning back in their chair and giving him an expectant glance. "So, did you finally agree to take Liora under your wing, or do I need to bribe you with more coffee?"
They raised an eyebrow, waiting for Levi's response, but their tone held an understanding, as if they already knew what was going on in his mind.

Levi crossed his arms and leaned against the doorframe, his usual stoic expression in place. "I’ve thought about it," he said, his voice as direct as always. "I’ll take Liora into my squad."
He paused for a moment, watching Hange for any sign of a reaction. "She’s got potential, even if she’s stubborn. She’s not like the others." Levi glanced down for a second, as if pondering the next words. "I’ve seen her push through pain... and not just physical. She's got the kind of resilience that can be useful in the field."
He exhaled a sharp breath, almost as if irritated with himself. "But don’t go thinking I’m going soft, Hange. This is about her proving herself. I’m not handing her any favors."
Levi straightened, his gaze now steady on Hange. "I’m doing this because she needs it. Don’t make me regret it."

Hange, absolutely ecstatic, sprinted down the hallway, laughing maniacally as they went. “LIOOOOORA!!” they yelled, unable to contain their excitement. They hammered on the door with their fists, practically bouncing on the spot. “Guess what?! Guess WHAT?! Levi’s taking you into his squad! You’ve made it! YOU’RE IN!”
Hange was practically vibrating with energy, grinning like a child on their birthday. “This is HUGE! You’re going to be training with the best! Get ready, Liora!”

She walked up to the door, still hold her arm, she opened the door " What is it Hange? " She said, still holding her arm
She noticed how excited Hange was " And chill Hange. You look like a kid who ate to much candy " She said, walking to her bed and sat down, leaving it open for Hange to come in

Hange was practically stomping around in their boots, excitement radiating from every inch of them. "Okay, okay, I’ll try to chill, but this is BIG, Liora!" they exclaimed, their voice practically vibrating with energy. "Levi has officially decided to take you into his squad! He wants you on his team! You’ve got a spot in the best squad there is!"
They paced back and forth in a circle, their boots clomping loudly on the floor. "You’re going to get so much training! This is your big chance!" Hange said, finally pausing to look directly at Liora, their grin so wide it almost felt contagious. "I mean, seriously, Liora! This is HUGE!"

She couldn't believe her ears " Wait. Really? " She said. You couldn't tell but she is very excited " Yes! " She smiles " Ican finally hopefully fulfil my promise to my dad! " She hugged hange but carefully
She looked up and smiled " You hear that father! I can fulfill my promise to you! " She thought to herself
Liora's mind: what changed his mind? I wonder if Levi is thinking about what I said to him a moment ago....

Hange's grin grew even wider as Liora hugged them, and they patted her back enthusiastically. "Yeah! Really! Levi doesn’t just pick anyone for his squad, you’ve got the talent, Liora! You’re more than ready for this!" They pulled back and gave her a proud look. "I’m so happy for you! You’ve got this!"
As Liora spoke to herself, Hange didn’t miss it and gave her a knowing smile. "I think Levi’s thinking about what you said too. Maybe it’s time for him to let someone in. He’s stubborn, but he’s got a soft spot, trust me."

Levi, back in his room, sat silently for a moment, processing everything. His expression was as stern as ever, but there was something faintly softer in his eyes as he reflected on Liora’s words. He had always been closed off, but there was something about her that made him reconsider... It wasn't easy to admit, but maybe she was right. Maybe it was time to stop carrying the weight alone.
He let out a quiet sigh. "What the hell did she get me thinking about..." he muttered under his breath.

She looked at Hange " Hange...I noticed something very odd about Levi " She said " You said he is stubborn. He tells me he never stares at anyone..." She said
" Maybe it's just me but...when I train....I feel like he is staring directly at me. Not at the other trainees " She said tp them " I don't know...maybe he will open up. On his own. I just pushed him to do it a little bit " She said

Hange raised an eyebrow and smirked, their excitement still evident. "Oh-ho, looks like someone’s picking up on Levi’s subtle ways," they teased. "Maybe he does have a little thing for you. I mean, I wouldn’t blame him—you’ve got the guts and the drive. And you’re clearly not afraid to speak your mind."
They leaned in closer, lowering their voice dramatically. "Maybe... just maybe... Levi’s got a little crush on you, Liora. He might not show it the way most people would, but trust me, that guy has his own way of doing things."
Hange stood up straight, grinning mischievously. "But hey, if he does, you’ve got a lot of potential to melt that cold, stubborn exterior of his. I’m rooting for you!"

She smacked the back of Hange's head " Don't you think that way Hange " She said " Levi does not have a thing for me- " She said. She thought for a moment
Liora's mind: Does he...?
She shook her head " I don't believe he does....I'm sure Hange " She said to them

Hange grinned, rubbing the back of their head where Liora had smacked them. "Oh, come on, Liora! I know it’s hard to believe, but sometimes it’s the quiet ones you’ve got to watch out for." They wiggled their eyebrows, clearly having fun with the idea.
"Alright, alright," Hange said, raising their hands in mock surrender. "But mark my words, Levi's got a way of hiding his feelings. If he does have a thing for you, he’ll probably keep it locked up tight—he’s not exactly an open book."
They gave Liora a knowing wink. "Just don’t be too surprised if you start noticing a few more ‘coincidences’ or weird little things. He may just be more interested than you think."

She got up and pushed Hange out the room and walked out and shut her door " Alright Alright! Enough! We got more research to do " She said and started walking to their office
" I did say I'll help you after all " She said. As she walked by, She walked past Levi's office. She peaked in then continued walking

Hange laughed as Liora pushed them out of the room, but they quickly followed her down the hallway. "Alright, alright! You’re no fun, Liora!" they called after her.
As they caught up, Hange grinned at Liora's determination. "Yes, research! I forgot about that—guess we’ll get back to work then. But don’t worry, I won’t make any more comments about Levi... for now."
When Liora passed Levi’s office and peeked in, Hange noticed but said nothing. They were curious about what was going through Liora's mind, but didn't push her. Instead, they gave her a playful smile and said, "Well, looks like someone’s got their eye on something, huh?"

She shook her head " No. NO I DONT! DEFINITELY NOT! " She said, chuckling " Let's go! " She dragged Hange to their office. She got there and closed the door
She sat down in a seat with her notebook and pen " Alright, What do we have so far? " She asked Hange, looking at them
