She shot a glare at Hange then looked back at Levi and looked down " I know but...I told Hange I would help them with their research..." She said

She gulped " But I got it...I'll go back to the Infirmary, Levi " She said and walked out the office, heading to where the Infirmary was

Levi exhaled sharply, rubbing his temples as he watched Liora leave. "Tch. Stubborn brat," he muttered under his breath. But despite his annoyed tone, there was a flicker of something else in his expression—maybe concern, maybe something he wouldn’t even admit to himself. He glanced at Hange, already bracing himself for whatever they were about to say

Hange snickered, nudging Levi with their elbow. "Sooo... You really care, huh?" They wiggled their eyebrows at him teasingly. "You’re all ‘Get some rest, Liora’ and ‘Take care of yourself, Liora’—I’ve never seen you act like this before!" They grinned. "Should I start planning the wedding now, or—?"

She walked into the Infirmary and sat down on the bed or chair. She held her arm and winced. She took the bandage off of it and looked at it

It looked red and sore. She ran her fingers along it. She winced and put another bandage on it after she put some more ointment on

She sighed " Why does he care so much...? I thought I was just a crew member..." she said, wrapping her arm

Hange, who had sneakily followed her, peeked into the infirmary with a huge grin. "Ooooh, someone’s deep in thought~" they teased, stepping inside.

They crossed their arms and leaned against the doorway. "You know, Liora, for someone who insists that Levi doesn’t care about them, you sure do spend a lot of time wondering why he does," they said with a smirk.

Hange walked over and plopped down beside her. "Face it—our dear, grumpy Captain actually gives a damn about you. And not just as a soldier." They waggled their eyebrows playfully. "Sooo... what are you gonna do about that, hmm?"“Yeesh, no wonder he kicked you out of his office,” Hange muttered as they carefully applied the ointment. “You push yourself too hard, Liora. I get it, you wanna prove yourself, but trust me, even the best soldiers need to rest.”

She jumped and looked at Hange " Jeez! Don't sneak up on me like that! " She said " And I know that...It's just- " She started to get tears

She gulped and looked down " If I'm gonna end up being captain one day, I have to push myself and prove that I am capable of such a job " She said

She got up and headed towards the exit " And Levi...."She thought for a moment " Maybe he does or maybe he doesn't...Hard to tell " She looked at Hange " And maybe he is still thinking about what I said. He knows I'm right. I'm waiting for him to tell me that " She said and headed out the Infirmary. She walked past Levi's office, sighing

Hange watched her go, their usual playful grin fading into something softer. “Liora…” they mumbled under their breath, leaning back in their chair.

They sighed and ran a hand through their hair. “You’re just like him, you know,” they muttered to themselves. “Both of you carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders. Stubborn as hell, too.”

They chuckled slightly, shaking their head. “Guess we’ll just have to wait and see which of you admits it first.”

With that, they got up and went back to their research, still thinking about the conversation.

As she walked past his office, she stared at the door, like she wanted to knock on or something. She kept staring " Should I or? " she kept thinking about whether or not to do it

" I don't know if I should. What if he was busy? " she sighed. She then walked up to the door " Well here it goes " She gulped then knocked on it but not to hard

Levi, sitting at his desk with a cup of tea in hand, sighed as he heard the knock. He had a feeling he knew who it was. Setting the cup down, he rubbed his temples before responding.

“Tch. It’s open,” he said, his voice carrying its usual blunt tone.

He leaned back in his chair, watching as the door creaked open. “Shouldn’t you be in the infirmary, resting, like I told you to?” His sharp eyes locked onto her immediately, already anticipating some excuse.

She walked in and closed the door behind her. She walked up and stood in front of his desk, arms behind her back " Yea. I did go to the Infirmary..." she said

She looked down " I also...bandaged up my arm and put medicine on it too...like you did..." she said to him " I also was wondering....If you could fix it for me? " she asked him

" I don't think I tightened it enough..." She explained. The bandaged looked like it was coming off. She rubbed the back of her head

Levi let out a quiet sigh, eyeing her arm. "Tch. Of course, you didn’t do it right," he muttered, standing up and grabbing the medical kit from his desk.

"Sit," he ordered, motioning to the chair across from him. He pulled it around to face her before kneeling slightly to get a better angle. With precise movements, he unraveled the loose bandage and inspected the wound, his expression unreadable.

“You push yourself too damn much,” he remarked as he applied fresh ointment. His touch was firm but careful, making sure not to aggravate the injury more than necessary. “Being strong doesn’t mean acting reckless.”

As he secured the new bandage tightly, he glanced up at her. "Next time, don’t half-ass it," he said.

She was sitting in the chair. She thought carefully at what he said. She then sighed " I know that Levi " She said. She looked away from " Its just..."

She thought very carefully about what say " My dad was a captain of the curvey corps back home. I wanted to be him. But all I got was co captain. I never really made the calls " She told him

" If I want to be Captain, I need to do more. I need to push myself to prove that I can take on a the job! " She told him " I know I can't push myself to hard...I just want him to proud of me..." She told him " I want them all to be proud of me..."

She started to get tears " I couldn't save them from being murdered by those Titans, Levi! " She said " What if its my fault for the reason they're dead?! " She said

She finally let her emotions out. All of them. Instead of trying to hold them in. She looked at Levi " If only I had done something to save them...Maybe they would still be here! " She started crying

Levi was silent for a moment, his sharp gaze locked onto her as she finally broke down. He had seen this before—survivor’s guilt, the kind that ate away at people until there was nothing left. It was a pain he knew all too well.

"Tch," he muttered, setting the medical kit aside. He crossed his arms, eyes dark and unreadable. "You think you could’ve saved them?" His voice was calm, but there was an edge to it. "You were a kid. And even if you weren’t, even if you were the strongest soldier alive, you can’t save everyone."

His expression softened, just barely. "Blaming yourself won’t bring them back. Won’t change anything either," he said firmly. "What will is how you move forward. You wanna be Captain? Fine. But you don’t get there by throwing yourself into the fire just to prove a point."

Levi let out a slow exhale, his gaze never leaving her. "They’d want you to live. To fight smart. Not to die over guilt." He glanced at her wrapped arm. "So wipe your damn tears and stop being reckless. You’re not the only one who’s lost people."

She looked at him " But you know how to hide the pain. I can't even do that...even if I wanted to " She said. She whipped her tears away and crossed her arms " I try but somehow I managed to always let my pain out..." She said

She looked around the room then back down. She looked at Levi wondering why the heck he sounded like he cared so much. She thought she was only a crew member " I wanted to save them, Levi..." she said " I miss them..." She looked at the photo of her dad on the wall

Levi followed her gaze to the photo, his expression unreadable. He knew that kind of longing, the way loss clung to you no matter how much time passed. He had felt it with Isabel and Farlan. He still did.

"You don’t have to hide it," he finally said, his voice quieter but firm. "Pain doesn’t go away just because you shove it down. It just sits there, waiting to eat you alive." He glanced at her. "But letting it control you? That’s how you get yourself killed."

He leaned back slightly, arms still crossed. "Missing them doesn’t make you weak. It makes you human." A pause. "And wanting to save them… that’s not a bad thing either. But you’re still here, and that means you’ve got a choice—live for them, or let the past drag you down."

Levi exhaled through his nose and looked back at her, his sharp gaze softer than before. "It’s up to you."

She sat there, quiet as she let Levi give her advice. She looked at Levi " Heh. Look at you Mr. Captain " She said, whipping her tears away " Giving me the advice now " She smiled and laughed a little

She sighed and gulped " You know, Hange has these crazy ideas that...." she looked up at him " The reason you seem more worried and caring towards is because..." She looked away " You may have feelings for me...." she said " Crazy Right?..."

She chuckled a little bit then looked down. She didnt want to admit but....maybe she was starting catch feelings Levi...just a little bit

Levi clicked his tongue, looking away for a moment before his gaze flickered back to her. His expression was unreadable, but there was the slightest hesitation—something unspoken lingering in the air between them.

"Tch. Hange talks too damn much," he muttered, though his tone lacked its usual sharpness. He leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. "But... maybe they’re not entirely wrong."

His eyes met hers briefly before he glanced away again, as if the admission itself annoyed him. "Doesn’t mean anything changes," he added quickly. "You’re in my squad now. That’s what matters."

For a moment, he looked like he wanted to say something more, but instead, he just sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose. "...Get some rest, Liora." His voice was quieter this time—less of an order, more of a suggestion.

She nodded and got up, heading toward the door of the office " Alright Levi " She said, opening the door. She smiled secretly at what he said then walked out

Before she did, she looked back at him " Oh and Levi..." she said. She tilted her and head smiled a little " You should get some rest as well " She suggested and walked out

She headed to her room, thinking " Oh Levi " She said to herself. She walked into her room and layed down, thinking. She slowly closed her eyes, resting up some

Levi watched as she left, his eyes lingering on the door even after it clicked shut. He exhaled sharply through his nose, leaning back in his chair and staring at the ceiling for a moment.

"Tch. Annoying," he muttered to himself, but there was no real bite to his words.

He ran a hand through his hair, then glanced at the neatly stacked paperwork on his desk. Normally, he’d force himself to push through the exhaustion, but for once, he considered taking the advice given to him. With a quiet sigh, he stood up, extinguished the lantern on his desk, and made his way to his bed.

As he lay down, staring at the ceiling, his thoughts drifted to Liora—her determination, her stubbornness, and the way she looked at him before she left.

"...Damn it," he muttered, turning onto his side and closing his eyes.

The next day

Liora was still in her bed. It was morning and she yawned. She opened her eyes a little and sat up stretching. She got up and checked her arm. It looked better so she took off the bandage and threw it out.

She through a tink top and leggings, tying her hair up, grabbed her sword and made her way to the training room

She walked in and smiled " Alone ay? " She shrugged " Might aswell " She was the type to start training early, but she forgets to eat something

She walked to the middle and started training
