The first thing is to announce... actually advertise... that there is a pre-Epic Week raffle/contest/dice thingy going on in the Games Forum for Anonymous Characters. You have questions?
Why only anonymous characters?
Well, they get the short end of things on most all the raffles which require either writer accounts or public characters to participate.
But doesn't that allow one writer to participate a lot with as many anonymous characters as they have?
Yes, that's right. There are currently a couple dozen anonymous characters who have entered, and who knows... maybe there are only a few writers, or even one writer (maybe my writer, since I'm an anonymous character), it doesn't matter. One dice roll per character gets them a slot in the final raffle (which we at the station haven't quite figured out yet what it will be) and actual prizes (which the station hasn't quite set in stone yet due to some uncertainty revolving around the contest budget) will be given out to the characters. it doesn't matter to the station if the same writer get more than one prize, because this is about showing off Anonymous characters!
I like the idea of showing off one's anonymous character, but without knowing what the prizes are, what is my incentive to participate?
To win something I guess; showing off your anonymous character while you're at it. At the end of the day, you lose nothing to play.
When does this contest close?
The very last moment an anonymous character can roll a 1D100 to participate is 11:59:59pm Pacific Daylight Time April 23rd 2025. At midnight starting April 24th, the beginning of Epic Week, rolling will be closed and no new characters will be able to participate. We at the station will then organize the final phase of the contest depending on how many participants have entered.
Now, the second thing is if you for whatever reason don't want to participate in the contest, but want to show off an anonymous character, feel free to post about them here. Also, if you are roleplaying with an anonymous character and want to show them off, do share their profiles. You may want to seek permission from their writers before doing so as a courtesy, but the fact is all character profiles set to one of the public settings can be viewed on the character list, so I don't see why sharing profiles here would be a problem.
Anyway... join the contest. Share cool characters, Or not. It's all about fun, and Epic Week coming up will be fun!
Just an end not that this thread is not the place to discuss the pros or cons of anonymous characters. There are a couple threads out there already where that discussion is welcome:
