Ayooo. New here (surprise!).
I began forum RP'ing around 2010, but abandoned it for some years to play some more TTRPGs. Recently felt the itch coming back, though, so I thought I'd give this a go.
I come from a different RP culture, where characters are often made up on the fly for whatever's prompted, so I'm not used to having any sort of permanent character that exists in multiple RP. Am in the process of slowly building one here, though - I've always been a sucker for customization.

Oh I'm used to that too, all my current characters are made for the plots I had around them. People are pretty okay with that, too!

Sometimes people do that type of roleplay here too, where they make a character on a fly or only have a rough outline. I like to call them 'one shots' or 'blank slates' as opposed to 'mains/MCs'. It can make for some fun and unexpected plots and characters.
