A meadow of wild flowers could be seen from the cliff tops, the atmosphere was hot and ashes filled the air. There was a fire burning in the forest to the east, the flames seemed to be roaring as the trees were ablaze. Along with the roaring the screams of a group of teenagers could also be heard, three boys and a girl. The roaring was not of the fire but of the creature who's territory was being destroyed, Covered in blood and sweat the beast walked out of the forest with a bloody torch that was no longer lit. the great Lowen with his mane scorched let out a deafining roar that could be heard for miles as he reverted back to his human form.
He despised mankind for the way they treated his kind and the way they treated nature. His family, friends, and his son were all lost in the fire. With tears in his eyes Griffin walked away from his former home as it still burned. Feeling like he has no purpose he walks, hoping to find a purpose and a group that he can call a family.

deeper into the burning forest a girl with green scaly skin, yellow slit eyes and long green hair ran with a group of snakes following behind her."come on!" she called back to the snakes as they slithered along behind her. The girl desperately avoided the burning flames that brought up terrible memories from her past. Eventually the girl and her band off snakes made it outside the forest where the collapsed onto the ground from exhaustion. "how did this happen" the girl said as she layed on her back and looked over at the burning forest.
As the girl started to relax into the grass and her snake friends started to slither into her hair she heard a terrified high pitch scream that made her sit up quickly. she looked around a bit before seeing a group of teenagers who seemed to have just barely made it out of the forest. The only girl of the group was starring at the sake girl with a frightened face. The other teens then looked over and their expressions matched hers.
teh snake girl stood up from where she stood and the teens took a few steps back. "um.. I" the snake girl said as she started to back away fear growing inside her. "I ..I" As the snake girls fear increased the teens decreased. they saw she was frightened and decided to treat her like the monster everyone thought she was. "What the Hell are you?" one of the guys screamed as he picked up a rock and chucked at it at the snake girl.
The snake girl was ht in her arm by the rock and when the other teens saw she wasn't fighting back the joined in. meanwhile the snake girl slowly crouched to the ground shielding her head from the bombarding rocks while whispereing " some one.. please.. help me"

Skenith
The earth trembles lightly causing the teens to return to their feared state, they could not do that not to his master! Skenith slid threw the earth his fangs the size of swords, he burst up from the earth, a full sized Snake Drake the the width of a carriage trapping one of the boys whole in his mouth. His venom was more deadly then an arrow to the heart, and his left fang dripped red as it had guillotined the poor boy. "Did they hurt you my lady," He spoke in the language of snakes as he swallowed the boy whole. Skenith's body coiled low and loosely around River to protect her. But the teens had already began to flee.

The Teenagers attempting to escape the snakes and the burning forest were in for a horrible surprise, The boys felt that there might be hope they could see the wildflowers outside the forest. Sadly for them the Lowen was waiting for them.
Griffin enraged to see more teenagers, charged them and with a display of pure brute animalistic destruction ripped them too pieces, blood soaked the tree bark and matted his fur. He stopped and listened, Crackling from the flames and what sounds like hissing of snakes. he went in to see if any other trespassers were still surviing the blaze.

((sorry i used the wrong character before river is my snake girl))
River looked up at skenith and gave a slight nod "yea...I'll be okay" she said timidly as she stood up and staggered a bit. "but" she continued " where are my friends". River then began to look around frantically untill she found a group of snakes laying on the ground several had died from having rocks thrown at their heads. "oh no" river said on the brink of tears as one of the snakes slowly slithered out of the pile and up to her. she crotched down and picked up the small green serpent and placed it in her hair "there you go, safe and sound now"

Skenith lowered his large head to River releasing his long forked tongue to stroke the side of her face, "The were happy taking the stones for you my lady." He hissed. He knew his day too would come that he would get the honor of dying for the girl that linked the worlds of flesh and scales together. "What is it you bid of me Lady River?" Skeniths long coils unwrapped now that the teens had fled, he awaited her command.
River looked up at Skenith and started to mumble "uh.. I .. um" she was unsure of what to do, she had never been saved by anything that looked even the slightest bit like her, other than her little snake friends of course. Then suddenly she heard footsteps coming towards her and Skenith, making her jump and look at the approaching griffin.
Skenith had been hidden in a temple far to the south near the coast to Black Rock, the temple foretold that this girl was the mother of scales, and sister to all snakes. So he headed out on a quest to find and defend her, "What is it my lady?" His head turned to see the flames in the forest.
The great Lion stopped as he witnessed the snake woman and her hoard of serpents, realizing that these were not human visitors Griffin said to them " If you wish to escape this forest I suggest you follow." with that said Griffin began his leave of the forest, trees were falling all around them still being scorched by flame Griffin shouted "Hurry! We must leave here at once!" Not wanting to perish himself he started running to the forest edge where he knew it was safe.
Skenith lowered his neck once more, "Get on my lady." He hissed. "We must get you too safety." He could feel the burning branches falling on his lower coils. Trying to act unfazed by the pain he spoke again, "We haven't much time. Those kids deserve to burn, but I will not let them take your life with yours." His sword like teeth folded back and upward in his mouth as his golden eyes peered threw hers.
river nodded slowly as she swung her legs over skenith's neck "okay , lets go" she said her fear lowering and her courage raising. the little snake she had put into her hair now coiled around her neck like a necklace as it rested its injured body, she stroked it's scales.
Charred earth, a cacophony of loss and agony, misunderstandings. Illismere snapped out of her deep meditation in the center of her Hearthwood, the hidden woods between the veil that she called home. She straightened to stand upon the gargantuan chestnut limb that she had been perched on and listened. A gentle breeze of wind caressed her long hair, toying through the locks and tugging at the her tunic. She smiled softly and asked, "What tidings can you bring me of the Other Realm?" The breeze stirred playfully, then shimmered as it began to gust harder. Floating bits of ash, like snow, and a faint scent of charcoal and embers wafted about Illismere. So, it is true, she thought what I have seen is happening right now- the prophecy is unfolding as I set here! I must find the ones foretold and aid in their journey.. "Will you guide me akashala?" she asked the breeze. In response, a gale took full force swirling leaves and bits of forest up into itself, Illismere Rhiannon at the heart of it. The air became like moltent aluminum and the shimmering grew bright. Suddenly as it had all started, the storm was gone from the Heartwood, and Illismere with it.
The forest edge was in sight, the trees no longer blocked the sun. Still it was dark, the ashes now so thick in the sky that the sun still unable to shine through. Now at the forest edge he looks back to find that the serpent woman and her minions were no longer in his sight. He didn't want to abandon them, against his instincts he runs back to assure they make it too safety.
Heart breaking destruction lay before Illismere as she stood a handful of paces from the decimated forest. Tears welled up in her eyes as she could feel all the swirling confused energies of the souls who had been so agonizingly wrenched from their physical forms. "I know little ones," she whispered to them all as they cried out to her. "This is only the beginning of the hardships. Please be strong for those you've left behind- give them peace of mind by giving yourselves peace. Go on to the Summerland, and I promise you one day I will meet you there. Rest in the Heartwood, meander to the scrying pools. From there you may watch the events unfolding here." She poured out love and understanding to them, then turned her attention to scanning the wood line for ones she sought.
Skenith's giant body ripped threw the trees breaking the burn floor apart under him, he had ventured far, and was tired from his trek north but the temple foretold this. "Forests will burn, oceans will run dry," He whispered to himself, the first part of it was coming true before his eyes. A woman stood not too far from him he changed course and headed towards her, she wasn't one of the teens. "Shall we save her my lady?"
River looked on ahead to the women and noticed griffin was coming back towards them. "um... yes, but do it quickly" she said urgently "we must follow the griffin, I don't know why but i get this strange feeling i can trust him" she said to her large snake companion below her.
Skenith bowed his neck upon reaching the woman. "I mean you no harm misssssss," He hissed, "His eyes fixed on the griffin as a large tree fell crushing his lower body, "Go!" he yelled dragging his body out from under the burning timber, bloody scraped and burn marks lined this part of his coils, "Get out, well meet you at the edge of the woodssss!"
The serpents were in sight, and they turn in a different direction, Frustrated Griffin shouts to them in a voice of rage "So be it! If you all die here today, remember I gave you all fair warning." Griffin with tears in his eyes had made his decision, the trees were falling all around him and although he knew helping these snakes was the right thing to do, his selfishness was getting the better of him. Confused as to what he would do in this situation he punched a tree, already badly burnt no longer flaming but still glowing red cinders the tree snapped in two. He grabbed his hand and roared in pain and anger, he glanced at his burnt hand and said to himself " They don't have a chance..." he paused and then darted after them in a fit a panic and fear.
He was exhausted having destroyed the humans and running back and forth, Griffin's vision was starting to become a blur, the smoke and ashes were filling his lungs. In a final attempt he Bared his teeth and bellowed a mighty roar to reassure himself that he was capable of saving them. The roar boosted his energy and he carried on after the serpent woman and her snakes.

A large serpentine figure, and girl with snake features, and a huge lowen all came into sight. Illismere called out to them, but her voice went unheard. Sorcery! There is an extra hand in all this confusion... I must get to the bottom of it, but first priority is to round up these three before they are lost in this cursed forest, lose hold of their life force and go to join those poor spirits! Decisively, she strode forward into the smoldering forest and stilled her mind and body. Heat rose in thick shimmering waves and choked her breath. Well, at least there is sufficient energy here... Illismere thought ironically as she began to draw the intense heat into herself. It seared her throat and lungs, cracked her lips, stung her eyes, and parched her skin, but she continued to focus it all into a center of swirling crackling energy within her. Then she released it into a mighty beam of blue light that surged from her feet and high into the skies above. It took enormous control, but she held it steady. "SKENITH! RIVER! GRIFFIN!" she boomed with magically enhanced resonance, shaking the ground and stirring the charred trees. "I AM ILLISMERE RHIANNON OF THE SUMMERLAND HEARTHWOOD! TO ME COMPANIONS, AND WE SHALL BE FREE OF THIS TURBULENT FOREST!!"
Skenith was thrown back a bit by the girls yelling, almost right next to her he a bit closer, "We must get out of this burning wood." He cringed still being burned by the charred grass, "get on my neck with Lady River, we will rally outside this destruction!" Fire crackled and he knew in his heart that the other children were most likely gone, burned alive or suffocated, and one was eaten by him. He was getting impatient he had to get his princess out, "Letssssss go!"
