You are a normal person, with a normal life, in a normal town. There are clubs, parks, neighborhoods, libraries, schools, businesses, and so on. most of the people may seem normal, but they could be hiding a shocking secret behind those starry eyes. (it's summer in the town, so NO SCHOOL!) You meet people, and become close to them, but you may start to uncover clues about their secrets. (You don't have to have a secret) You may become enemies with someone, or you may become lovers... Your choice.

Fallon was laying in the soft green grass in the park, looking up at the cloudless sky, and was reading through old conversations she had with her teachers through an old notebook. There were still many blank pages, because no one talked to her very often. She had this notebook so she could communicate with people, It's hard being mute. She flipped another page and began to read again.

((Character profile: Rayner Beasley))
It was yet another mild summer day in this town and Rayner loved it! With music blaring from his headphones, he jogged through the mostly empty park. Beads of sweat rolled off his body and damped his clothes. He had been running for a while now...since he had woken up several hours ago to be exact. He had ran through the near by hiking trails, he ran through the town, and now he's running through the park. It was too nice of a day for him not to take advantage of it.
But he was running low on fuel now and his legs soon started to slow down. He decided that maybe it was time to take a break. He came to a slow and steady stop and lifted his water bottle to his face. He squeezed it expecting water to come out, but only a few droplets came. He realized that he had ran out of water several miles ago and soon he lifted up his sunglasses to look for a drinking fountain. It was hard for him to see, but his efforts didn't fail him when he spotted the fountain not too far away.
Panting still, he slowly walked himself over to it.

Sam sat alone in his apartment, it was a small dusty kind of place. The Sub-let had given it to him for half the price a month if he could fix it up. The family in it before him were evicted and had left it a mess. Sam wasn't the smartest, he had dropped out of college after his first semester, he was around twenty one who aspired to do nothing. His mom was in jail, and his father was a drunk who somehow still worked at the local grocery store. They lived on the other side of town, and Sam hadn't gone far, he had no real reason to get away.
The clock read one in the afternoon, "time for work," he said, he grabbed his keys and walked out the door down the steps to the first floor and out to his piece of junk motorcycle. He started it and sped off towards the radio station, it was the only place he felt cool, like he mattered to anyone, he had a small following of under a hundred fans but his show was growing.
Sam sat down in his soft felt chair, head phones on, his voice erupted into a whole new person hidden within him, "Hello Mountain country!" this was his real home, in this room with foam walls and a microphone, "This is Thorne, your week day DJ. Lets roll the music!" A song started to play and Sam leaned back in his chair, his life was a mess, debts piled high, no woman in his life, but here none of that mattered.

Corvina walked out of her house in a tank top and running shorts. Her honey colored hair was tied up in a simple ponytail. She started doing stretches and warm ups to get ready for a run. She was on the high school cross country team and didn't want to get out of practice over the summer. Besides, running helps clear my mind. She thought this as she started her run. There had definitely been a lot of things on her mind recently.
Her father was dying. He tried to hide it behind cheery smiles and blustery talk, but she knew better. Other people might not have noticed, but she knew the man too well for him to hide much from her. It showed in the looks of pain and hopelessness that flashed across his face when he thought she wasn't looking. It showed in the many doctor visits and appointments that didn't seem to come up with any results. At least none that he told her, which probably meant they were bad.
Corvina blinked sudden tears away, commanding them not to make her break down, not now. She only let tears flow when she knew she was alone. She ran harder, like she was trying to outrun her pain. Without even consciously making the decision, she found herself running the trails in the woods.

The cool crisp water dripped down his chin. Rayner felt almost instantly better when the water hit his face. He drank some of the water before filling up his water bottle. He took a look around the park and towards the mountains in the distance. "Another day, Rayner..." he said to himself. Once his water bottle filled up, he stretched himself out a bit and started to run again - this time in the direction of home.
He found himself crossing through the park and back on the trail and continued to run through. The trail wasn't that long and only stretched across the small town. It was nice though, hidden behind the courthouse and one of the supermarkets. As Rayner ran, he noticed someone in front of him. He slowed down his speed and started to move to the side in order to pass her easier.
Once he passed her, he found himself coming to a full stop and his eyes widen. Before him was a rattle snake coiled up and rattling it's tail. Rayner slowly backed away a few steps before turning around at the brown hair girl. He held up his hands as though to motion to stop, hoping she would before she runs into the snake.

Corvina focused on not tripping up on any of the roots that appeared in the trail. She definitely didn't want to twist her ankle. The boy surprised her when he passed. She hadn't been able to hear him behind her with her ear buds in. Corvina didn't really expect to meet a whole lot of other people on the trail, and she felt strangely comforted that she wasn't running this completely alone. She wondered who the boy was. He looked about the same age as her.
Suddenly, he stopped and slowly backed away from something he'd seen on the trail. She slowed down and looked at him curiously. She took out her ear buds and was about to ask him what was wrong when she heard the rattling. A rattle snake was coiled up in front of him. Great, just my luck. Corvina slowly started backing up with the boy.

The snake continued to rattle, a sure sign that they should adhere to it's warning. Rayner continued to back up slowly and slowed down his breathing. The snake continued to rattle and hiss at them, staring them down with it's beady red eyes.
Rayner continued to stare it down and it felt like eternity before the rattlesnake decided that the two humans before it wasn't a threat. It started to uncoil and slithered away, off the trail, and into the tall grass. With that, Rayner felt like he could breathing again.
"Whew..." he let out and smiled a bit. He looked over at the caramel brown hair girl and flashed a smile. "You alright?" he asked. He felt like she looked familiar. Maybe someone he had met at school, but he wasn't too sure.

Sam's words touch the microphone with power yet grace, it wasn't the best paying job in the world but he was good at it. It was also a way to pay the bills, soon his bike would be payed off and he'd be able to sell the piece of junk for a real bike. "And a final notice from the Montana Rangers, keep a look out for those damn rattlers. Their population has grown," he read the page in front of him, "sixteen percent since last year." Thorne got to choose the commercials and messages he ran on his station, so it was a nice extra chunk of change to help out the Rangers in the area, "But enough of what'll kill you, back to your rock and roll on 106.3."
Sam leaned back in his chair flipping the recording switch off, he took out a bag of chips and began to snack, "if you love what you do," he said to himself, "you'll never work a day in your life."

Corvina felt immensely relieved when the snake slithered away. Hopefully, that would be the only time she would run into a snake, at least for today. She watched the grass it had gone into for a moment and turned to the boy. He was smiling at her and she smiled back.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just glad that snake didn't decide to make us its snack." That was probably the closest she'd ever come to dying. Her hands were still shaking a little so she held them behind her back. "My name's Corvina by the way. Corvina Ginaldi."

The one earbud that Rayner had on was on the radio app. He chuckled once he heard Sam mention the rattle snakes and soon pulled off the earbud when Corvina introduced herself. He held out his hand. "Yeah, I know right? My name is Rayner Beasley, nice to meet you Corvina...wait, do you go to Scottsdale High?" He asked. Rayner felt like had seen her around school.
Corvina wondered what he was laughing about. Her ear buds were still hanging since she hadn't put them back in after the snake incident. She took his hand and shook it a little unsure of herself. It seemed so formal. "Yes...actually I do go to Scottsdale. I'm on the cross country team." She was surprised that he'd asked. "Do you go too? I'm afraid I don't really recognize you." She felt a little embarrassed that he should recognize her but she wouldn't recognize him. It didn't surprise her though. She was content to simply fly under the radar at school.
Suddenly, a growling noise came from the bushes nearby. A small red fox came out of them, staring Rayner down. Corvina calmly walked over to it and picked it up. "Figures you were following me. You were too late though, you just missed all the excitement." She walked back over to where she had been standing next to Rayner. "This is Zander." The fox blinked at him and sneezed.

Talia sighed happily, quite content with the summer day. With a nice cup of tea and a newly required book from the library, Talia was enjoying the shade of an oak tree in the park. This town was very welcoming, which was quite different from the other places Talia had moved to.
It had only been two months since she moved and everyone was already treating her like she had been here her whole life, unlike the other places she had moved to. Talia hoped she wouldn't have to move from this place too soon. It was perfect for her and so far no one had learned her secret. Here she was seen as normal and nothing else and Talia quite liked it that way.

Rayner knew he recognized her from somewhere. Rayner has been on most of the sports teams at school at least once in his high school career. Cross country was one of them, though that was his freshman year. "Yeah, I thought so! I was on the Cross Country team my freshman year for a while...but decided to stick with swimming." He said in a very upbeat and friendly way. Maybe he was still too hyped up from all of the excitement of having to look at death in the eyes.
"And it's all good, I am usually wearing my glass-" but before he could finish, a fox came at them which caused Rayner to jump. He watched the fox and Corvina carefully before realizing that it was safe and relaxed a bit. "Is this your...pet? That's...freakin...awesome!" He said. Normally, Rayner wasn't this talkative but he has never met anyone with a fox.
"Nice to meet you Zander...aren't you a cute little guy?" he asked and wanted to reach out and pet it but decided against it. Soon enough Rayner heard another rattle coming from the bushes and he stood up straight. He took notice of his surroundings again and looked back over at Corvina and Zander. "Hey, we should probably keep moving" he suggested. "Do you mind if I jog with you two? My apartment is just at the end of this trail." Rayner asked.

Corvina smiled to see how enthusiastic Rayner became. It was infectious. She looked a little embarrassed. She wasn't really used to getting a lot of attention, and he was so excited when he saw her with Zander. She had to admit a fox wasn't a common pet though. When Rayner said he usually wore glasses she studied his face, picturing him with a pair on and smiled. Now she recognized him. "Amazing how different people look without glasses."
Corvina was relieved when Rayner didn't pet Zander. The fox didn't usually take well to strangers, except for little kids. She jumped when the rattling sound came again and quickly agreed with Rayner's suggestion that they keep moving. She set Zander on the ground since he'd just get jostled and probably fall off if she set him on her shoulder. "Yeah, I don't mind. And Zander won't bite unless I tell him to." She gave him a smile to show she was joking.

Rayner gave a slight chuckle but he was very cautious about the biting "joke". He wouldn't be surprised if Corvina had trained her pet to do such a thing. He started to walk along the trail and slowly picked up the pace and soon they were jogging at a nice and steady pace. He did his best to keep up with Corvina - though he was quite athletic, he had been running all morning already and had started to feel a bit fatigue. Lunch would be a nice...and soon. Luckily his apartment wasn't too far away. Though as tired as Rayner had started to feel, it didn't stop him from being curious about Corvina and her fox friend.
"So how...did you...come across such a pet anyways?" Rayner asked in between breathes. He looked down at Zander while he asked and couldn't help it but smile again. "It's a freakin' fox...it'a freakin' fox!" He thought to himself.

Corvina kept pace with Rayner. While he had been running all morning, she had just begun. She had to keep it easy going for Zander though too. Foxes weren't exactly distance runners., which explained why he'd come so late when they'd stopped. She put one of her ear buds in but left the other out in case Rayner said something.
She smiled at his question. It looked like Zander had gotten a new fan. "Well, when I was little, we lived in a different town and our house was just on the outskirts of the town. You could look from one window and see woods, another and see the other houses. I was outside playing when I heard this little whimpering noise. I went to go check it out and it was this little baby fox. I had just picked him up when I heard a growl coming from deeps in the woods. I looked up and there was this wolf standing over the bodies of the mother fox and her other kits. And then," Corvina smiled a bit as she remembered. "Then, I just got so angry I started yelling at the wolf. I don't really think it would have scared it off if my dad hadn't come out to see what I was yelling about."

Rayner was quite amused with the story. The thought of a little girl yelling at a wolf is ironic in a fun way to him. "Well that's pretty cool," Rayner had started to say as he adjusted the one earbud he still had on. "And you guys have been together ever since, eh?" He asked though the answer was obvious. He looked down at Zander and back up at the trail before them. It was coming close to an end. He could see the apartment complex in the distance.
"So you got any plans for the summer?" Rayner asked.
"So you got any plans for the summer?" Rayner asked.
"Yup." She smiled lovingly down at Zander. The little fox kept on trotting on but she knew that he knew they were talking about him. His ears flicked towards them. "He's followed me around ever since and gets upset if I leave him at home." Corvina rolled her eyes. "It almost caused a big problem with school."
She felt a little disappointed when she saw the trail was coming to an end. Maybe it was the near death experience they'd shared, but she'd come to like Rayner in the short time they'd spent together. Corvina was inwardly elated when he asked what her summer plans were. "Well, I'll be running a lot and swimming at the pool. And my dad and I go camping every summer." Her smile faded when she realized they probably wouldn't go camping this year.

"Oh no way, you have a pool?" Rayner's ears perked up. He loved swimming and was probably one of the best simmers on the swim team at school. There's some something about floating in liquid space that made him realize how alive he was. That, or maybe it was the fact that it was a place where anyone could easily drown and die.
When Corvina told him of the camping plans, it made Rayner realize how long ago it was since he had actually gone camping. Sure, he had gone on plenty of day hikes, but camping? It has definitely been a while. "That sounds pretty awesome, I hope you and your dad have a great time then! Nothing like the great outdoors, right?" He asked and admired their surroundings. "Maybe I'll run into you again on a run." Rayner said and slowed down a bit when they reached at the end of the trail.
He hoped he could run into Corvina and Zander again. It's not everyday he meets someone who has a fox.
"Or maybe we can hang out or something..." Rayner added, hoping it didn't seem to awkward suggesting such a thing to someone whom he had just met. Just then his stomach growled. Guess it was lunch time.

The light sound of conversation broke the spell of the book Talia was reading and now her attention was currently on the two people whom were headed her way.
"Strange...." She muttered watching them walk down the trail. Out of all things, Talia never expected a fox to be following them. Though she did not know the duo, Talia did recognize there faces and vaguely remembered seeing them around town.
Their conversation was quite normal, a listing of different summer activities, yet Talia couldn't help but find it interesting. Though this was very Strange to Talia, being that she wasn't a very nosy person and normally stayed out of people's conversation, but now she seemed obligated to listen to them. Maybe it was her lack of friends that made her act this way. Talia sighed. If only she had friends....
