"Well they contain information about my powers, my weaknesses, and other valuable information..." She said, trying to calm herself down. She could see how this would cause a even bigger problem with their plan to escape, being that they would need to turn around and return to the place they were trying to flee.
"We don't have to return right away, just maybe later or before they decide to search my apartment. It's just going to cause more problems if they discover them..." She bit her lip, thinking of what to exactly do.
"I can drive, but I rather worry about it after the police go away," Talia gave him a nervous smile. She had totally screwed up now. But if it really got worse, She could always use her powers again. Though she rather not do that again.

"If you need it then you need it," Sam turned the wheel hard spinning the car around, "I'll meet you at the Coffee house in White Fish!" Sam pushed Talia's head low into a ducked hiding position as he jumped out of the car. He fired a shot at the police car as he ran into the trees. The cop car slid to a halt and Officer Colt looked at the supposably abandoned cop car and decided it was empty, he turned the wheel and began running out of his car after Sam. The chase went on for almost ten minutes before gunshots were heard. Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
After awhile, Talia started the Car and headed back towards town, speeding to make the trip faster. She hoped that Sam would be okay, for if he was not, Things would definitely get ugly! Talia would unleash a huge wave of her powers that would ultimatly devastate everyone.
"Please Sam don't die because of me...." She muttered gripping the wheel tightly.
Before she knew it, She had made it to her apartment and was frantically collecting her things into a small bookbag. Talia had only packed what she deemed was important; All her books on Fateweaving (which were only 3) Her phone and wallet, and a quick change of clothes. Once she was done she quickly high tailed it out of there and back into the police car.
"Coffee house in White Fish, Coffe house in White Fish" Talia repeated over and over as she made the trip over. Sam just had to be okay or Talia didn't know if she would be able to live with herself!

Sam made his way back to the dirt road, the gun in his hand was empty and his shirt was stained with blood. Officer Colt was dead, he was officially a bad person, he had been broken by the one thing that was supposed to pull people together, love. To make matters worse another cop car was parked next to the abandoned one, and the two other officers from the station pointed pistols at him. "Hello," he smiled.
They didn't lower their weapons, "easy guys please, just relax." His gun was pointed at the ground in his right hand and with his left he stuck out an open hand, "Cigarette, I'll come easily for one last smoke." He had never smoked before but he was willing to tar his lungs one time for the chance to think his way out of this mess. Officer Howard glanced at the woman with the name tag, Jackie, she nodded and tossed Thorne a pack and with only his left hand he took one out.
The carton fell to the ground as he placed the tobacco in his mouth, "light?" he extended his hand once more to catch the woman's lighter she had tossed. He couldnt think about escape, only Talia sitting alone at the coffee house in White Fish. Not how he escaped jail, not how he killed a guy, not how he was about to die, just her. A puff of smoke rose from his mouth as he smiled, "Thanks for the memories..."
Thorne raised the empty gun and let out another puff of smoke as he pulled the trigger, and there was a moment of silence after the quiet click. This of course was followed by round after round, bullet after bullet shot at rapid fire through the chest of Samuel J. Thorne the second. Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
The boy fell to his knees, followed by the cigarette slipping away from his lips and falling towards the gravel of the road. Sam was dead before his lifeless face kissed the ground. The cops had thought he was going to fire but he had already expelled all his ammo. How could they have known, they couldn't have. By this time Talia would just be passing the dirt road heading towards White Fish, where no one would be waiting for her.

Corvina rolled her eyes as he pretended to be Batman and called out for Alfred. Zander sniffed curiously around the cave. "Does that mean I'm Robin?" There had been a female Robin at one point in the comics after all. She peeked over the edge of the cave. She instinctively grabbed for Rayner's arms behind her when he talked about pushing her over. "Well, you'd come down with me!"
She turned around and followed him over to the camera. So that was the source of the sound. She watched Rayner pull out a wire and stop the beeping. She wondered how he knew how to stop it. As soon as the beeping stopped, Zander turned to them with his little ears swivelling like satellites. Corvina looked at the cut wire he showed her. "I wonder why someone would do that."
Zander sniffed along the wires leading deeper into the cave. Then he just stood still and stared into the darkness. She smiled back at Rayner. "Heck yeah we're going!" Corvina was so excited she started walking forward. She almost tripped over a few of the wires on the ground. She put her hand out to the wall to steady herself. Her hand came back slick with moisture. She smiled sheepishly. "Ok, maybe you should lead, since you have the flashlight."

Rayner let out an annoyed sigh and bopped Corvina lightly on the head. Then he handed her his flashlight and pulled out another one from his bag. He smiled to show that he wasn't really annoyed. "Now we both have flashlights." He said and soon they were off into the dark cave.
There really wasn't much to see in the cave - just more darkness, dirt, rocky walls - just normal cave like things. Every once in a while there would be droplets of water that would fall from the ceiling, but that was expected since they were underneath a waterfall.
Like with most new environments, Rayner stayed quiet and observed his surroundings. He constantly shined his flashlight around and looking at everything. About 45 minutes into the cave, Rayner shined his flashlight upon another camera. "Wait..." He said to Corvina before looking closer at the camera. This one however, was damaged. Made no beeping sound and with a large bullet hole right through the lens.
"Well...someone had a gun..." Rayner said calmly. He then shined his flashlight down the cave again. The light traveled down but hit nothing but more darkness. He looked back at the entrance of the cave which seemed to be a small hole now. He looked over at Corvina. "Well I'm down to keep going..." and before she had time to answer, Rayner already moved forward. He figured that Corvina would tell him if she felt uncomfortable with continuing.

"Hey!" Corvina mocked her head in mock hurt. She gratefully took the flashlight from him when he handed it to her though. "Thanks." She hadn't even thought to bring one along when she was packing. Zander padded forward in the light of both their flashlights, his tail waving like a flag behind him.
Corvina crossed her arms and shivered. "This goes a lot deeper than I thought it would." They'd been walking about 45 minutes so they had to be at least 3 or 4 miles in. Crazy. Her eyes widened when she saw the shot camera. "Someone really didn't want their picture taken." Just what the heck had happened here?? She came closer and inspected the camera, lightly touching the bullet hole. It didn't feel warm. Zander pawed at her leg and she bent down to pick him up. She carried him in one arm and the flashlight in the other.
She followed Rayner quietly. Her curiosity outweighed her worry at the moment. "You don't think this happened recently, do you?" A tone of worry tinged her voice. It could be that whoever destroyed the cameras was still here.

Rayner had scanned the flooring and noticed that they were leaving food prints from their shoes. He looked around for a bit and shook his head at Corvina's question. "No, no fresh footprints. And these cameras look a bit older too..." He said, explaining his thoughts. He continued to walk. "Let me know if you get tired...I brought some water and snacks too." Rayner informed Corvina.
The cave seemed like it had no end. By this point Rayner couldn't even see the entrance any more. He looked at his sports watch and hit the bottom for the backlight to come on. They had already been walking down the cave for a little bit over 90 minutes now. Rayner didn't realize it at all.
When it seemed like there was no end, Rayner saw a little flashing red light in the distance. He looked back at Corvina and Zander before turning his deep blue eyes forward again. "Hey...there's something up there." He informed her then continued to walk forward. At this point, Rayner was extremely caution, being hyper aware of his surroundings even more.
It didn't talk long for them to reach the red light and when Rayner flashed his light upon it, it lit up something unexpected. A large metal door. The only thing was, the door was in pieces as though someone had planted explosive devices and blow through it. There was a large hole through the thick metal door.
"Holy crap...what the hell...?" he said and walked up closer to the door to examine it. "What is this place..." he said out loud, not expecting an answer from anyone. It was obvious that the door has been breached a long time ago. There were clear signs of water damage on it - some rust, some puddles, and even small life forms building within the door.
Rayner looked over at Corvina, searching her green eyes for any signs of concerns or hesitate about moving forward. He didn't say anything but just waited.

Corvina nodded, content with his explanation. If she was by herself, or even just with Zander, she probably would've started feeling really creeped out by now. As it was, she was only feeling a little creeped out. A thought hit her. Did any of the townspeople know about this? It was fairly close after all. But no, probably not. People didn't go to this much trouble hiding something just to make it common knowledge.
She gasped involuntarily when she saw the door. It had been so violently opened. "Oh my god." She said in a hushed voice. Zander jumped down from her hands and growled at the doorway. Whatever he sensed on the other side of that door, he didn't like it. She reached for the pocketknife her dad had given her when she was little. Corvina carried it around with her wherever she went. She reached out and gently touched the jagged edge of the door. When she pulled back her thumb was bleeding. It wasn't deep or bleeding a lot so she didn't worry about it.
Corvina wasn't sure what she expected to find anymore. She looked at Rayner. He seemed to be watching her, waiting to see if she'd go forward or not. A part of her thought how weird it was. She was so used to being the watcher, not really being noticed by others. It was strange to suddenly have that changed. "C'mon." She said as she gingerly walked through the doorway.

Rayner smirked a bit when Corvina stepped through the door before he did. It made him see another side of her. They hadn't known each other for that long, not even a full week yet - but already Rayner felt a good connection with Corvina. She wasn't like most people at their school. Beneath her quiet and independent exterior, Rayner had noticed her adventurous and fun side of her. She reminded him of himself. He didn't think he would find someone as similar to him in the town that they live in.
He stepped through the door and now walked beside Corvina. Within a few steps, they weren't walking on dirt any more but some sort of metal flooring. The ceilings had remains of hanging light fixtures with either blown out light bulbs or light bulbs that simply did not shed light any more. Their footsteps would echo through the deep hallway along with Zander's little claws against the floor.
It wasn't long until they reached another door that resembled the first one - blown to pieces, in shambles. Rayner carefully stepped over it again and helped Corvina and Zander over. On the other side was yet another path, but this time the walls around them resembled one of an actual room - with worn out walls and titled metal flooring. Rayner looked around carefully. The room was deep, and there were some reamins of desks, chairs, and even a few old computers that looked like they dated back to the early 2000's when people were making the switch to flatscreen computers. Some plant life could be seen growing from the cracks on the side of the walls. There were a few doors along the walls of the room. Two of them being obvious having signs labeled as "bathrooms" on them while the others remained a mystery.
"Wow..." Rayner said as they moved to the middle of the room. "Is this some sort of hideout?" He thought out loud before laughing. "I mean...this is my old Batcave, yes." He joked looking over at Corvina with his usual smirk. He stepped towards the computers and began to look at it before pulling out his cellphone from the waterproof case he had it in. He flipped on and noticed that he had little to no service where he stood. The little signal bar would go in and out when he moved around. He turned it off and pulled out the little waterproof camera and kept it by his side.
"This is so weird..." he said again and shined his light around before noticing one of the doors said Power on it. "Hmmmm..." he walked towards it, opened the door and noticed a generator that ran on gas in there. He had seen these before, having spent some time with his dad in a cabin in the middle of no where. He lifted the lid and checked for oil. When he saw the black fluid reflecting back against his flashlight, he searched for the switch and flipped it on. "Here, could you hold my light?" He asked Corvina and handed her his flashlight. Once she did, he began grabed the starter string from the engine and began to pull it, generating power just like one would with a law mower.
His muscles flexed with each tug and soon enough the engine started and the generator was on. "YES! We have power!" he said.

Corvina looked around. If she was only a little creeped out before, she was much much more so now. This looked like one of those horror escape games where you never really escaped in the end. You just died. Zander padded alongside them, his claws clicking on the metal floor. His hackles were up and it was clear he didn't like this place, but he followed because he wouldn't let Corvina go on without him.
She stepped carefully through the door with the help of Rayner and flashed her light around the room. This one actually had things in it. The plant life in the walls seemed pale from the lack of sunlight. She walked over to one of the computers and wiped the dust off the screen. The old computer chairs looked a little moldy so she decided not to sit in them. A layer of dust covered everything and it made her want to sneeze.
She smiled. "Yes and you had so many visitors that you had to have a bathroom for the boys and one for the girls." Zander sniffed at a computer modem and sneezed. "I agree with Zander. The batcave could use some cleaning." Zander's ears perked up and he looked back at Corvina when he heard his name. She walked up to one of the random doors that were unlabeled and tried the knob. Hmmm, locked. Whoever had gone around destroying doors hadn't gotten this one.
Corvina looked up to see Rayner going into a doorway labeled Power and quickly followed after him. This was the last place she wanted to get lost in. She watched him inspect the generator and took his flashlight when he asked her to. Some of the lights that hadn't been broken or blown flickered on and made her blink. She laughed when he got so excited about the power. "Great. Now you can make Frankenbat."

"Mawhahahahaaha!" Rayner laughed. The but the laughter quickly became coughing from the gas and dust in the area. "Alright, lets-" he coughed again. "Get out of this room..." he said and soon they were out and back in the area. Rayner turned off their flashlights and stored them back in his pack. The light wasn't great but it was better than not having anything.
Rayner walked over to one of the computers and noticed that they were turning on. It was taking a while to load, but it was expected since it was so old. Rayner looked over at Corvina and smiled before noticing that more lights are turning on. He couldn't see it earlier but the back wall was made of glass. Flickers of lights came on from behind the wall and everything could be seen clearly from the glass.
His blue eyes widen when he noticed the series of large tubes that began to light up one by one. Most of them broken but some were still intact. The ones that were still intact contained a clear blue-green fuild and soon Rayner saw something that made him jump back slightly. Human bodies floating in the tubes. Bodies that had been rotting away and most were gone. He noticed the bones on the floor in front of the broken tubes. "What in the world..." Rayner said softly. He was shocked. Just what was this place?

Corvina rolled her eyes at his evil laugh and covered her mouth and nose so she wouldn't start coughing too. Zander, of course, didn't have any such benefit as hands to cover his nose and sneezed again. Corvina hurried back out of the room, excited and also dreading what the original room they'd found themselves in would look like under some better lighting.
She walked over to a computer and jiggled the mouse. It didn't make it start up any faster than it already was, but at least with them on now, they might find out something about this place. Zander barked and growled at the unnatural things behind the glass. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw that Rayner was moving towards something. He looked horrified. "What-" She turned to see the glass and past it the rotting corpses in the test tubes.
She couldn't speak and couldn't move. Corvina was frozen in a moment of surprise and horror and disgust. Her face started looking as green as her eyes. She forced herself to look away. What she ended up looking at was a door next to the glass. On an impulse she walked quickly over to it and threw it open.
The sight wasn't any prettier inside the room. The smell was nauseating. Next to each tube was a clipboard. She was close enough to read the nearest clipboard. And recognize the name. Sandy Pitcher. A girl from Corvina's kindergarten class who'd gone missing. With a sinking feeling in her gut she read the names of another few. And recognized every one of them. If not the whole name then at least the last name. Her stomach twisted and she ran to a corner, not able to hold her stomach any more. When she was able to talk again and wiped her mouth she said. "They're all people from around here. Not just from our town but the surrounding towns too."

Rayner walked up behind Corvina right when she had said that most of the corpses in the lab were people in the town. He had lived in their little town long enough to know many of the people - especially the people who have gone missing a while back. He frowned as his eyes scanned the large tubes and the corpses. The ones outside of the tubes had decomposed a long time ago, down to nothing but skeletons - while the ones still floating in the liquids still had some features intact, but was a disgusting site to see.
Rayner looked around and noticed a hallway at the back of the circular room. It had a huge metal door to it that looked as though it too had been blown off, just like the ones that they have encountered before. Rayner began to walk towards it, carefully stepping through the assortments of corpses on the metal flooring. He took a few steps up the stairs and stared through the door. Clearly down the hallway, he could see three doors - one leading to a room that overview the circular room that they were in, another had a sign that said Control Room, and lastly another door with no labels.
He looked back at Corvina and soon stepped through the metal door and into the small hallway. Immediately he sees skeleton remains of what looked to be a security personnel laying on the floor. He was holding a handgun. Rayner kneed down and picked up the gun. He checked it's chamber and there were still bullets in it. He held the gun in his hand and decided it'd be best if he kept this one with him, just in case.
He reached the unlabeled door and twisted the knob. The door opened up to a set of stairs leading downwards. Rayner couldn't even imagine how big this place was. He closed the door and went back over to Corvina. "This place is a lot bigger than I thought it'd be..." he said. Actually...it was a lot different than he thought it'd be overall.

Corvina barely noticed when Rayner left. She had sat down and pulled her knees up to her chest. Zander whined and nuzzled her, sensing her distress. He avoided the tubes and the bodies, seeming unsettled by them. She couldn't stop seeing the faces of those that she'd known and were here in these tubes. There were few and most features she tried to recall were blurred by time. God she never thought anything like this had happened to them.
Corvina felt herself on the verge of hyperventilating and worked on controlling her breathing, blotting out everything else from her mind. She closed her eyes for a moment. When she felt calm enough, she opened them again, avoiding the bodies and tubes. She stood up and noticed for the first time that Rayner was gone. A stab of panic went through her until she noticed that another door was open too.
Seconds after she noticed all this, Rayner came back through the door. She felt so relieved to see him. "Maybe we can find a map. I bet there'd be one on the computers." Her eyes flicked down to the gun in his hand. "I hope we won't need that." Zander seemed content that she was back to normal and sat on his haunches, watching the two of them.
Corvina took out a water bottle filled with now lukewarm water and drank some. She walked back to the computer room, careful not to look back through the glass. She approached one of the computers and frowned. "It needs a username and password."

Rayner could sense the anxiety that was coming off of Corvina. Though he was disturbed by what they have discovered, he remained calm on the outside while his mind raced with theories and ideas of what this place might be. He nodded when she suggested on finding a map on the computer and soon followed her out back to the first room. When she mentioned the need for a username and password, Rayner sighed. If he had known that this was the type of day they were going to have, he would have brought some more technological equipment from home.
"Hmmm...well we don't even have a clue of to what this place is." Rayner said and shook his head. He tucked the gun into his pocket before adjusted the straps of his pack. In truth, the pack with their supplies was wearing him down a bit but he kept it on his back. He did not want to leave anything behind just in case they needed it.
Rayner scanned the area once again and soon an idea came to his head. "Here, hold on." He told Corvina and jogged lightly over to the bathroom doors. Without looking which gender bathrooms he went into, he quickly went into one of them and looked upon the walls. Sure enough, there was an emergency floor plan posted on the wall. "Bingo..." Rayner said and soon popped his head out of the bathroom door. "Come on, I found a map!" He informed Corvina. He urged her to come into the men's bathroom with him to look at the map posted on the wall.
Once she did, he pointed out the emergency map showing all of the exits and escape plans for the facility. The map showed 3 different floors - one above them and one below them. For the most part, they have discovered everything that there were to discover upon the middle floor.
On another map, there were a few separate rooms but the layout of the upper floor resembled one of a house or apartment floor plan - with living corridors, bathrooms, kitchen, and even some recreational rooms. The only real thing that stood out on the top floor was the Helipad entrance.
The bottom floor, however, were much different. There were several rooms that were labeled as Containment Cells, Therapy, and even Isolation Cells.
"Look, we're over here..." He said pointing at the middle floor map. "Just what is this place?" He thought out loud. "They have testing rooms and what seems to be jail areas too...do you think they were conducting some sort of experiments here?" he asked, looking down at Corvina.

Corvina shuddered, thinking of the room just across the glass. "I'm not sure I want to find out what this place is." Zander jumped up onto the table that the computers were on and batted at a mouse. Though he also seemed disturbed by this place, he was also easily distracted and entertained.
Corvina just assumed that Rayner really had to go to the bathroom when he ran into one of them. When he came back out saying that he'd found a map, she was surprised. She never would have thought to look in the bathrooms. That was clever. "You know, I'd prefer you at least ask me out on a date before leading me off into the bathroom." Zander jumped down to the ground and followed them.
She looked at the map with him. She was relieved to notice the helipad entrance. "At least we won't have to walk another hour and a half in the dark to get out." The top floor didn't look too terribly interesting. Just living spaces. The bottom floor though... She touched the rooms on the map. "Just what were they doing to people down there?"
She turned to Rayner when he asked her about the experiments. "Maybe...but they must have failed right? If they'd been successful then wouldn't we have noticed something different by now? Unless they were interrupted...like by whoever had forced their way in."

Rayner only laughed about her date comment before quickly responding with "What? aren't we on one now?" he smirked. "Just kidding." he said and continued to observe the map. "I'd go with the 'interrupted' idea..." Rayner said, agreeing with her. There was no way with how the doors were and the cameras that the people working in the facilities were not interrupted. He pulled out his phone and took pictures of the maps before taking one last glace at it. He noticed a few pathways leading out of the facilities and into the nearby woods.
"Alright lets get out of this stinky place..." He said and soon lead them back out to the main room. He wasn't sure if this was the time to venture downstairs. They had traveled quite a bit already. He wasn't worried about himself necessarily but more so for Corvina's and Zander's sake. While he had no family waiting at home for him, Corvina did. He was sure that her dad would be worried if she didn't come home or something were to happen to her.
He checked the clock on his phone. It was already evening time. Most people in the town would be out to dinner by this time with their families. He turned to look at Corvina before pulling up the pictures of the maps. "Hey, look...I know this is a lot to take in right now - but it's getting late..." he started to say. "I noticed that there are a few tunnels around here that can lead you back to town quicker than through the hiking path that we took. If you go now, you can get back before it gets too dark..." he begin to say. He did not mention that he would be exploring this place by himself nor even perhaps, spending the night at a place like this. "I really don't want your dad worrying." he added.

Corvina raised her eyebrow at him. "Well, this is certainly a...unique...place to have a first date. You'll have a hard time topping it for a second date." She smiled. With all the horrifying things they'd seen in this place, making jokes and sarcastic comments seemed the only way she could cope with it.
She crossed her arms and nodded. This bathroom hadn't been cleaned in years and it showed in the mold growing on the walls and the rusted metal of the sinks. Even curious little Zander wouldn't go near the toilets or the urinals. She was trying to breath through her mouth as much as possible. She was a little relieved when the left the bathroom, not that the main room was much better.
Corvina was surprised to see how much time had passed since they'd come into this place. She was definitely all for leaving though she noticed how Rayner kept saying "you." She immediately started shaking her head. "No, we're leaving. You, me and Zander. I'm not going to leave you behind in this place." Her gaze was fierce for such a small girl. "And we can come back tomorrow together."

"Awwww, but mom! I wanna stay and play!!!" Rayner whined in order to break the tension. He was somewhat disappointed that she would not allow him to stay. With anyone else he would have turned on the Rayner charm, but with Corvina it was different. She wasn't like the others at school. He let out a sigh and a small smile appeared upon his face. His hand fell on to her shoulder and he gently squeezed it as though to assure her that he understood. They were all leaving together.
"Well, the tunnel seems to be this way." He said, letting go of her and leading them over to the door that Corvina couldn't open earlier. He jiggled the handle and soon stepped back. In one quick motion he drew the gun he had found earlier and shot the knob. The knob falls to the floor and soon the door opened to review a lit tunnel leading out of the facility. Rayner smirked. "Hey it worked, just like the movies..." he trailed off. He looked back at Corvina, "Well after you m'lady and fox." he said. The tunnel would lead them to a small trail behind the downtown area of town.
