((Heheh maybe. I might get kicked in the head tomorrow although the only person who's kicked me in the head is myself...))
Corvina looked at him with a smile. "Not at all Mister Beasley. I've just been chaperoning your dates with Zander and since he can't pay himself..." Zander yipped when he heard his name and walked in between them. She really did feel bad about letting Rayner pay for everything. She grew serious. "I can pay for myself this time." Zander looked back at her and whined. "And Zander." She smiled at him. He hated to be forgotten."
She nodded in agreement and went to put her hair up into a ponytail with one of the hair bands she always had on her wrist. It was definitely nice to be in summer vacation but sometimes the heat was a little too much. Zander didn't seem to even notice it. Thoughts of ice cream seemed to completely occupy his mind.
A jolt of surprise went through her when he called her Cor. It reminded her of the nickname her dad had made for her. Apple Cor. Ok, maybe not the best or sweetest of nicknames, but she'd like it when she was little. She smiled and realized that the attendant was probably waiting on her answer. "I'll take a strawberry cone and a small cup of vanilla ice cream please."
Corvina noticed how well Rayner was moving. It was like he'd never been hurt in the first place. It had looked pretty bad before. "You're moving really well for someone who had their shoulder and chest clawed to shreds. How's it feeling?"

((Ha! Now that's talented. If it's any consolation - I have bunched myself in a martial arts tournament before.))
"Coming right up!" the ice cream guy said and got to work. Rayner looked at her and cocked his eyebrow. He hadn't really noticed because he had been feeling so good. "Huh." He said and soon began to move around even more. He first rolled his shoulders around, then started to jump, did a few twist of his torso, and soon stopped. "Yeah, I feel pretty good..." he said. But now he was confused. This was not normal. He still remembered the time when he fell in gymnastic and tore is shoulder up. How the pain lasted for days and into weeks. He remembered the times when he broke his arm, cracked his head open, and even had to get surgery on his knees. Those pain lasted a long time, even after they have healed. After what he had been through today, he felt nothing - as though he was completely healed. And that scared him.
Rayner was lost in his thoughts - his face expressed so, looking dazed. "Here you are, anything else I can get for you?" the ice cream guy said, handing each of them their ice cream. Rayner snapped out of it. He turned to the ice cream guy and shook his head. "N-no." He said. "Ahem, I mean no, thank you. Here." he handed his bank card over to the guy before Corvina had the chance to pay him. "Thank you, sir, I'll be right back with this." he said and left to the other side to charge the card.
Rayner then looked over at Corvina, giving her a small smile. He was still thinking a bit about his body, and it didn't occur to him that she wanted to pay for her own things this time. He simply looked at her then at the cone in his hand. "Ah, cheers!" he said and held his cone up as though to clink it with her's. The ice cream guy then came back and thanked them for stopping by. Rayner then nodded and lead the way back out to the summer warmth.

((Not really sure how you could do that! Unless maybe an uppercut...?))
Corvina and Zander both watched Rayner go through what looked like a sports physical. Zander seemed rather amused, but Corvina was a little worried. He claimed that he felt alright, but Rayner sure wasn't acting like it. He didn't look like he was in pain, just confused and a little freaked out. She was about to say something when the man came back with the ice creams.
She took hers with a thank you to the man and watched Rayner stumble through answering his question and paying him. "You know, if you're just going to pay anyways, you should at least stop making me feel bad about not paying." Her heart wasn't really into the teasing like she usually would be. That wasn't what she was worried about.
"Cheers." She said and tapped her cone against his. Even when he smiled at her he seemed a little distracted. Corvina watched him as they walked outside and then suddenly stopped in front of him, forcing him to stop too. She reached forward and pushed his bangs up to feel his forehead. "Are you sure you're ok? You looked a little freaked out. Maybe we should get you out of the sun..." She bit her lip. She should have made Rayner stay home and just walked back to her house herself.

((CLOSE! It was definitely an uppercut. I went for it and the guy I was matched up with dodged it so quickly, when I went for it, I hit myself. Right in my face. Embarrassing as hell, but ha!))
"Oh, sorry..." Rayner said quietly as they were walking out of the ice cream store. He was still somewhat out of it, and didn't really hear what she said. He suddenly freeze up when she stopped and placed her hand on his forehead. Rayner felt the knots again when Corvina touched him. But the warmth of her hand brought him back to reality. He playfully pushed her hand away. "Oh, okay, mom." He joked and let out a small chuckle. He started to regain his composure and took a bite out of his ice cream. "I'm fine, seriously. Sorry if I worried you..." He said calmly, sounding more like his old self than before. He took a few licks out of his ice cream.
"In fact..." he looked at her with playful eyes and a smile before tossing himself forward into the ground. With one arm extended, he did a one handed handstand all while keeping his ice cream cone in the perfect upright position. At this point, his shirt lifted up slightly and soon up past his chest, exposing his healing chest. He wasn't able to see it, but there were no signs of starches, no holes, no bruises - nothing. Just some slight scars that looked like they too were even disappearing - slowly but surely.
Rayner smiled and pushed himself back up and on to his feet. He took yet another bite out of his ice cream and looked at Corvina smiling. "I feel pretty good. I guess you can call me Superman, heck, I'll take on another beastly warewolf thing again IF...you promise to be my sidekick and shoot it in the head again..." he smirked at her, joking around with her as usual. He definitely did not notice his wounds being gone. Why would he? He wasn't looking at himself after all. He stood there staring at her, while eating his ice cream.

((Haha, I straightleg kicked myself in the face. I guess I'm pretty limber, or maybe I was leaning forward a little...I don't remember it happened when I was little. You can't learn martial arts without a little embarrassment mixed in!))
Corvina smiled. She was relieved that he was acting like himself again. "That's ok. We've been through a lot recently, so I'd be a little surprised if you were all fine and dandy." She stepped back a little. No doubt there were many girls who had wanted to brush their hand in his hair and she hadn't even thought anything of it til just now. Her hand still felt warm. She licked at her own ice cream cone and held up the cup of vanilla ice cream for Zander, who was sitting on her shoulder.
She raised an eyebrow when he went into a one handed handstand. I'd never be able to do anything like that. Corvina felt a little jealous. "Showoff!" She smiled. She could help her eyes being attracted to his chest, clean of blood and barely any marks. Amazing. Wait...her eyes widened. No marks! "Whoa."
As soon as his feet touched the ground again, she walked towards him and lifted his shirt up a bit, completely ignoring the strangeness of what she was doing in favor of finding out just what was going on. "Maybe you're a werewolf now. Don't they have special healing abilities?"

((True that, I once forgot to tie my pants too tight when I was little...ended up tripping on them. Now that...that was some fun times for a kid lol))
Out of his natural reaction, Rayner jumped back a bit when she came close and suddenly lifted up his shirt. That weird knot feeling was back. However before he realized it was, her suggestion of him being a werewolf sparked his curiosity. He looked down while she still had his shirt up. "What? What are you talking about?" He said and soon saw his reflection in the shop window next to his. "Whoa!" He said and at this point grabbed his own shirt and held it up. He walked up closer to the window and held his shirt like this, looking at where the scars, bruises, and cuts were suppose to be. They were basically gone! Rayner couldn't believe it.
Of course, he then noticed a series of gasps coming from inside the window and noticed a bunch of ladies staring at him. He stepped away and realized that they were in front of the nail salon. Rayner soon turned back around at Corvina. "Uh, lets go somewhere more private..." he suggested and quickly started to walk towards the direction of her place.
There was a park, not too far away from Corvina's place and Rayner decided to stop there. He ran over to a park bench and then took off his shirt. He touched his back, his shoulders, and his chest trying to feel for any sides of the wounds he felt only a few hours ago. "Where did they go?" He questioned. "Holy crap! What am I now?" he asked out loud, though he also realized that Corvina wouldn't know either. And he highly doubted that Zander did.

((Hehe well I didn't get kicked in the face today!))
"Huh?" She looked up at him when he jumped back and realized what she'd done. "Oh, uh, sorry..." She pulled her hand back and felt her face get hot. "I promise I'm not like assaulting you or anything...but that is definitely strange..." She was relieved when he was looking at his chest now. God, sometimes her curiosity just got Corvina into such embarrassing situations. Zander looked at them curiously, wondering why they'd stopped.
Corvina had to stifle a laugh behind her hand when the ladies inside the nail salon gasped. She hadn't realized they were in front of it either. "I think you just overwhelmed those women by flashing them." She grinned, but agreed that a more private spot was definitely a good idea. She followed him, thinking they were going to her house and was a little surprised when they stopped at the park. "I don't think this is very private..." She followed him anyways.
She couldn't help laughing when he searched all over for the injury that had been there earlier. Zander was just excited to be at the park and started climbing over everything. She decided she was definitely enjoying looking at Rayner's chest beyond puzzling over the sudden disappearance of his wounds. "Hmmm, are we gonna have to lock you up on the next full moon?"

((haha, great accomplishment! ))
Rayner looked up and to Corvina. "Har har har...so funny..." he said, rolling his eyes a bit. He sighed and rubbed his face with his hands. "What is going on?" He asked before turning to Corvina really quickly. "Wait, we should test this right?" he asked. "I mean, how did you find out about your powers?" he added, now turning his full body towards her, his arm resting on top of the back of the park bench.
For the most part, the park was empty - expect for a few joggers and walkers wandering around. The park lights were slowly coming on as the sun was setting behind the nearby mountains. He looked back down at his hands and at his chest before pulling out the pocket knife he has always had on him. He flipped it open, letting the sharp black blade spring out. Soon he brought the blade up against the palm of his hand. "This is one way of testing it..." he said and began to press the blade against his flesh. He hadn't cut himself yet. In fact, a part of him was starting to think that it was a bit too rash of him to do so and the environment was not too sterile. This was not the best place to do it.
But he wanted to know what he had become. What was going on with his body.

Testing it did sound like a good idea. She tilted her head thoughtfully, trying to remember when she'd first found out about her power. "Well, I was playing hide and seek with some other kids and they all freaked out when I disappeared. My clothes didn't though, so they thought I was a ghost or something." She grinned. Now that had been fun. Her dad had been quick to stop her and tell her to keep it a secret though. "After that, I started working on it. Kind of like a muscle, stretching it. Now I can stay invisible longer, and include objects and people too."
She was surprised when he pulled a knife out and put it against his skin. "Hey! stop that!" She reached out and grabbed his arm. "There's a better way to figure out what's going on than just slicing your hand open!" She frowned. "We just work backwards and isolate certain events and possible causes." It felt like scientific method all over again. Ugh. She carefully took the knife out of his hand and sat down on the bench next to him. "Now, that certainly didn't start healing like that right after you were attacked, and you looked like it hurt the whole time we were walking back. So when did it stop hurting so much?"

He was being too rash. It was definitely not like him. But he felt like it was necessary to figure out what he had become and how to adapt as quickly as possible. It was something that his father had taught him time and time again. Hurry up and wait...adapt quickly and prepare yourself for what's to come... his father's voice was ringing in his head. Rayner placed the knife down and sighed. Corvina was right. Working backwards was the best option here.
Rayner took in a deep breath, letting it exhale slowly through his nose. He was thinking about of the day's events. It was a bit blurry, it didn't seem like his head recovered enough. He stayed quiet as he thought about things, from being attacked by the beast, to being blasted out of the cave, and even the moment he got home. His eyes widen when he thought of it. When he washing off. It started to feel better almost instantly.
"The water in the tub..." he said. "That's when I was feeling better." he added. "But how?" He questioned, his mind now falling into any lessons he learned during his biology classes. "Man this is all so freakin' strange." He said and looked at her. But suddenly a smile appeared on his face. "And kinda freakin' cool..." he said. "It means if you ever try to kill me...I can just heal, right? Ha! Ha! Ha!" he joked, trying to make the situation lighter and in a way, calm himself down.

Corvina watched as he though over the events of the day. There wasn't really a whole lot she could do to help him at this point, just wait. He seemed to puzzle it out pretty well though. She blinked. Well, that was thankfully easy to find out. She was just glad he wasn't about to injure himself again. Zander came trotting up to them, wondering why they were just sitting down instead of playing with all the interesting objects in the park.
She smiled back. "Well, not if I keep you from water Merman." She thought back to Rayner almost cutting himself earlier. It was so rash and unlike him. "Just don't go out of your way to get hurt just cause you can heal with some water though. I don't want to test whether or not this will heal severed limbs or near death."

"You wouldn't do that...to a swimmer? Come on!" he pretended to whine. "You are one cruel, cruel person, Cor..." he laughed. He would have to test this out on his own. It would worry Corvina if he did this in front of her - even though Rayner considered that having Corvina there would be safe, in case his new found powers didn't kick in and he ended up bleeding to death. He did not say anything in response and only smirked at her. He grabbed his shirt and put it back on so that he was decent and stood up. At this point his ice cream cone had melted which upon realizing, Rayner chuckled. He fed the waffle cone to Zander.
"Well that's enough excitment for a day." He suggested. "I'm sure your dad wouldn't want you hanging out with a merman like me for too long, shall we go?" He asked. There was a lot for Rayner to do when he get back home, examine the files he had stolen from the lab and also of course, his new powers.

She smiled and rolled her eyes. "Well I suppose I can't very well keep you from the water all the time. I'd have to stalk you everywhere and lock you out of your own bathroom." She wrinkled her nose. That would just be bad. She looked back at him and grew serious. "Seriously though...don't do anything stupid. At least not without me and a camera there." She grinned. Of course she couldn't let the mood stay serious for long.
Zander happily took Rayner's waffle cone and crunched it to bits. He licked his lips afterwards and looked up at Corvina, who hadn't gotten to hers either. She laughed. "Alright you can have it." He finished hers off quickly too. She smiled at Rayner. "Oh, I don't know. My dad encourages me to be friendly to all peoples, and look past the prejudices against aquatic sentient beings."

"A camera?" Rayner asked, slipping his hands into his pockets. "I'm not some circus side show you can just film to make vital videos, Cor." he said sounding very serious. "I'm a merman, dangit!" he laughed. "And your father is a good man." he smirked. "Lets not keep him waiting, up we go!" he grabbed her hand and pulled her up and started to walk towards the direction of her house. Rayner held Corvina's hand for a bit before letting it go to run ahead of her. He started jogging backwards to face her and Zander.
For a brief moment he made eye contact with Corvina but soon it glanced down at Zander. "C'mon Zander, Bet you can't catch me!" Rayner said, waiting for the little fox to catch up to him.

Corvina grinned. "Good for you. Be a merman and proud!" She didn't have much choice but to get up when he pulled her to her feet by her hand. He seemed to hold her hand a little longer than was needed but she didn't mind. A part of her didn't want him to let go.
She watched him start jogging backwards. "Hey, you might not want to-" Too late. Zander had already pounced on Rayner's chest, barking happily. She laughed. Zander had recognized Rayner doing the same thing as Corvina did when she wanted to play and wrestle with Zander. It was kind of adorable to watch actually.

"Whoaaa buddy!" Rayner laughed as caught the fox in his arms. " Sorry buddy, you can't knock me off my feet." he smiled and looked at Corvina. He released the little fox, letting him drop down on to the grassy floor. He lightly jogged with Zander beside him. Rayner turned around and faced Corvina. " Hey, you coming or are you planning on pouncing on me too?" he questioned and laughed when Zander leaped up next to him.
Corvina smiled. "Of course I'm coming." She ran to catch up with them and matched their jogging pace. "And as for pouncing on you, well I'm still considering or not I'm going to do that." She looked at Rayner. "Hey, do you think that your power might go beyond just being healed by water?" Not that being healed by water wasn't strange enough, but he did seem to have an affinity for water. He was even a great swimmer.
"I don't know, to be honest I'm kinda shocked that I even have some sort of power," he said as they jogged along. In no time, they were already in front of her house again. Rayner came to a slow stop. "Guess that'd be one of the things we could test," he said and knelt down to pet Zander. He looked up at Corvina as he stroked his hands through Zander's soft fur. "Hey, should we test if I could fly too? I could go throw myself off of your rooftop right now." Rayner joked.
((Gah! This got buried under a day's worth of notifications!))
Corvina grinned. She remembered how excited she'd been whenever she first found out she had powers. She'd wanted to show everyone. Of course she knew better now. "At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if Zander developed the power to speak or something." That would definitely be awesome. Although, he did know a lot of things about her... She looked at him and he looked innocently back at her. "Mm hmm." She laughed when he suggested jumping off the roof. "Yeah, no. That would mean that I would be responsible for you breaking whatever bones you break by jumping off. Try little things. Little tests to see how far your powers actually go."

((Aren't you popular?))
"Oh yeah, it would be awesome if Zander could speak," Rayner said and continued to pet the their little topic of conversation. "That way he can tell you that he wants to come live with me." He smirked and soon picked up the little fox as he stood up himself. He sat Zander perfectly balanced on his shoulder and turned to face Corvina. "Ha, alright, I was just joking anyways. I'm not about to go toss myself off of places...though it'd be fun." he said, half serious. He did after all, enjoy parkour. He looked over at Corvina and then her shoulder. They were standing in front of her house, but he a part of him didn't want to leave yet. "Does your shoulder still sting?" he asked.
