Zander barked in answer to Rayner's suggestion of calling it a tie. He could take that whichever way he wanted. Zander padded to the water's edge and lapped up some water. He watched as Rayner took off his shirt. It never failed to amaze and intrigue Zander why humans didn't just grow a nice pelt of fur covering more than just their heads. He pretty much ignored whatever it was that Rayner was saying in human speak and settled down to let the sun warm him as he waited for Corvina. Then Rayner got into the water and made more strange sounds, obviously pointed at Zander. The water did look cool though. With a glance back at the woods Corvina had gone into, Zander got up and ran into the water.
Meanwhile, Corvina had found a spot where she could see the boys, but the boys couldn't see her. It was cute to see Zander playing in the water and with Rayner. She smiled and decided not to do anything to them. "He likes you, I can tell." She said as she walked out of the trees and set down her backpack and hiking boots on the ground.

Rayner braced himself in the waters, hunching over with his arms spread just slightly on his sides. He stared down at Zander as though getting ready to pounce on him. He didn't move for a bit before faking a leap at the small fox. Rayner laughed and picked up a stick that was floating next to him. "Hey Corvina!" he yelled at her, when he saw her coming out of the corner of his eyes. "Does Zander play fetch?" he asked. But before she can answer he took the stick and threw it towards Corvina. "Go get it boy! Come on!" he said , hoping the fox would chase after it.
Zander was having quite the time playing with Rayner. He stayed in a shallower end where he could move easier and wouldn't always have to be paddling his legs. When Rayner threw the stick though, he just stared after it and looked back at Rayner like really? Corvina laughed at his expression. "No, I'm afraid he doesn't chase after sticks but he does like these." She reached back into her backpack and grabbed two treats for Zander that she'd packed earlier. Stepping out into the water, she knealt down to Zander and gave him one. She held one out towards Rayner. "Here, you can give him one too."
Rayner chuckled when he saw that Zander wouldn't chase after the stick. He shook his head wondering why he even bother trying. He had a strong feeling that it wouldn't have worked. He looked at Corvina when she fed Zander the treat and grabbed the one she handed him. "Hmmmm..." Rayner thought about it for a second and looked down at the fox. He then held it out inf front of him, dangling the treat, wondering if the fox would jump for it. He didn't say a word and simply waited to see what the fox would do.
Once the movie had ended, Talia had at least cried 4 different times. Though a lot of Adults and elderly people were giving her strange looks, Talia hadn't even noticed. Sure she was nineteen and coming out of a kiddie movie crying, but who wouldn't after seeing that movie?! It was just so amazing!
But now Talia had to get control of herself. After all she was on a Date and had already embarrassed herself ten times more than needed. Talia mentally sighed, why couldn't she act her normal age?
"S-Sorry for crying like a three year old..." She mumbled, wiping her face. She wondered if she could somehow redeem herself.
Say something intelligent!! Her mind shouted at her, though all she drew was a blank.

"That's alright," Thorne smiled, whether she acted her age or not during a children's movie, it didn't matter. She had saved his father from death, "There is an ice cream parlor not to far from here." Sam was always in the mood for ice cream and hoped she would be too. But he had so many more questions for Talia, he wanted to get to know the girl under the world travels and the years after the Time Travel Princess. "Are you afraid of anything?" He asked, of all the questions in the world why did he choose the weirdest one. Oh well, at least she was till holding his hand.
The question was easy enough for her to answer yet Talia could not reveal the true answer. What she was most afriad of, was something he could never understand. For he could not change the lives of people with just a wave of his hands. He could not end someone's live as easily as She could. He would never understand Talia's true fear.
"Spiders," She replied to him calmly. It was the quickest thing that came to mind. After all, normal girls were afraid of such things and to him Talia was just a normal girl. She rather liked it that way, anyway.
"What about you?" She countered, trying to keep the subject off of her for a bit.

"Heights," he said, it was really the only thing. Bugs were fine, weapons wee only as scary as the weilder, and darkness... Well he wasn't five. "About five, six years ago I was rock climbing in school and I slipped," he hoped she wouldn't laugh at his mishap, "the rope holding me up got caught around my neck and I hung there until I passed out." He would tell her of the fire department being brought in to get him down and how he almost broke his neck but it was not necessary, obviously he survived. The ice cream parlor was only a block more away, they were very close.
"Wow, that sounds very scary. I'm glad you're okay now!" She said smiling.
"Fate is such a strange thing, isn't?" Fate was something that was always constantly change, Talia knew that all to well. Though if she had to, she would keep changing his fate for the better.
Once the neared the ice cream shop, Talia's mature thoughts all but left her mind and her childlike tendencies overpowered her once again.
"Ooooh! I wonder how many flavors they have!? Do you know? Oh I hope they have mint chocolate chip!!!" She said happily.

Sam wondered why the extent of the female kind had a constant craving for mint ice cream. Mint was for toothpaste and gun, not ice cream. But it seemed every girl he knew liked ice cream his ex-girlfriend, his mom, his female friends in school. Mint flavored ice cream, the weirdest thing, "yeah I'm more of a cookie kinda guy. Cookie dough, cookies and cream, even plain vanilla."
"That's even better, especially cookie dough!" Talia smiled widely.
She just about fall in love with ice cream, though she didn't exactly no why.
"Gelato is also amazing, if have the right kind" Just thinking about that brung back the fond memories of living in Italy. Every week Talia would buy the sweet creamy Gelato from the small corner shop on her street. She sighed. If only she had some Gelato now, then she swore she would probably be happy for the rest of her life!

They ordered their deserts and sat outside looking out at the mountains. It was one reason Sam had no intention to leave Montana, the sunset was the most beautiful anywhere. Well he had only seen pictures of other places and in Seattle the sun never came out, and if it did he had been too little to remember it. Sam gestured to the sky's golden purplish hugh,"it's almost as pretty as you are."
Zander looked at Rayner warily. Then he cocked his head and looked at the treat before looking back at Rayner. Corvina watched and tried to hide her smile. Zander didn't really like when people tried to make him do tricks; he'd rather choose to do it himself. The treats were good though and she saw the wheels turning in his little head. Sure enough, Zander jumped up onto Rayner's arm and gently plucked the treat out of his hand before turning to look Rayner in the face up close. He then climbed up to Rayner's shoulder and ate his snack.
Corvina was surprised. Zander had never crawled up onto the shoulders of anyone but herself and her dad. "See? I told you he likes you. Otherwise he would've bitten you instead of taking the treat oh so gently from your hand." She smiled.

"Ha, I guess that's good for me...I get to keep my arm for another day! Comes in handy when you're a swimmer." he laughed and pet Zander behind his ears. He looked over at Corvina and to the waterfall. "So here we are..." he said trailing off a bit and walked towards the waterfall. He figured if Zander wanted off, he would jump off already. Rayner didn't mind having the fox on his shoulders though. He continued to walk until he was waist deep into the crisp ice water and motioned Covina to come and join him.
Talia felt utterly stupid for just sitting there and blushing after hearing his comment. Of course her social challengeness just had to come out now!
"T-Thank you.." She managed to say after what felt like forever! Talia didn't know what was worse, Her childlike tendencies making her seem like a complete werido or her being speechless over a compliment.
My life just hates me... She thought, trying to get her mouth to say words.
"You remind me of a mountain!" She suddenly blurted out, which did nothing to ease her embarrassment.
"Er, I mean you're um very sturdy for someone whom is going through a lot right now..." She added quickly.

Fallon had been on vacation for the past month. but when she got back, so much had happened. She didn't really know what was going on. She took her notebook and went to her favorite place in the park and sat down under the willow tree. Soon enough she found herself staring into space again.
"Um thanks," he laughed, just then his phone erupted, "hey I have to take this..." He nodded apologetically and headed outside. He was out there for almost twenty minutes before telling the person on the other line he was really in the middle of something at the moment but he'd call him back later, it wasn't happy news, but it didn't make him cry either. It was almost not even affecting him at the moment. He walked back into the ice cream parlor to see his treat had melted, he took a quick bite off the top before tossing it away.
"I'm really sorry about that," he smiled to let her know everything would be ok, "ready to walk back?"

"Something happened..." Talia could tell, and not because she had felt the threads of fate weave in another direction. Mentally sighing, She could already tell how the rest of her night would play out.
Great less sleep for me then.. Talia thought to herself. It seems that her secret duty would never be done.
"Sure, Let's go" She said throwing away her empty ice cream container. As they walked back, she wondered whoms fate she would be changing this time. Would they live or would they die? Would their death be caused by her or by a natural cause?

"All good," he smiled. He leaned in and kissed her soft, chilled lips with his much warmer mouth. "I appreciate your caring heart." Pausing as the left the shop, he held the door open for her, "but everything will be ok." They were still about a half hour from the apartment, and he never once let go of her hand. It made every a little more ok, all of the worlds troubles faded away with her.
"It's beautiful out here. Much better than a lake, in my opinion." She followed Rayner out into the water, stiffening a bit as she walked when the coldness of it hit her. Zander decided to stay up on rayner's shoulder for the moment and started licking clean his paws. Once she got in deep enough water, Corvina went under. It was cold as heck but she found it was better to get it over with faster. She came back up laughing. Even though it was cold, there was something thrilling in the sudden shock of it. She went over to the waterfall and stuck her hand under the running water.
